I stumbled onto this site while searching for the full quote in relation to 'life is limited, knowledge unlimited'. Impressed by the discussion here, I decided to join. I also like the name of the site. Easy to remember!

My interests are Chinese medicine, medicine and healing of all kinds, Chinese and Indian philosophies, mostly the non-dualistic approach, music, electric guitar (oops, wrong forum!), longevity (maintaining health and vitality life-long).

I had two 'Wen-Hui's cook moments on the day I read the forum posts: one was with a new barber/hairdresser here in Campsie, and the other was watching a documentary on NITV that night about J.B. Lenoir, a consummate blues singer/guitarist from the mid '60's (died a tragic death towards the end of the decade).

Thanks for making this forum available for like-minded people to share ideas and experiences.

I stumbled onto this site while searching for the full quote in relation to 'life is limited, knowledge unlimited'.

I hope you found the full quotation. It's from Chapter 3 of the Zhuangzi. Of course, there are many different translations - here is one of them....

“The Secret of Caring for Life”

Your life has a limit but knowledge has none. If
you use what is limited to pursue what has no
limit, you will be in danger. If
you understand this and still strive for knowledge, you will be in
danger for certain! If
 you do good, stay
 away
 from fame. If
 you do evil, stay
 away
 from
punishments. Follow the middle; go by
what is constant, and you can stay
in one piece, keep
yourself alive, look
after your parents, and live out your years.
