Pit/Chaos doesn't show last post

Why not show for the Primordial Chaos forum an update on the right hand side as to the last post/topic. It only reads 'protected forum'.

Why not show for the Primordial Chaos forum an update on the right hand side as to the last post/topic. It only reads 'protected forum'.

Because it's a protected forum.

If you want to see the latest post you'll have to put in the effort of clicking the link. I know how terribly tiresome that can be...

I split this out to a separate topic.

As background, the name was recently changed but I like what ZYD has suggested as "The Realm of the Hungry Ghosts"

Why does it show 'protected forum'.

Mainly because we are not trying to advertise what is in there... but I think you have a point for those who are actually logged in.

So I'll see if that can be conditionally displayed for actual members.

I find it another move to normalize The PIt.  It's becoming a valid location, instead of a place where we put things that are overly offensive and/or break forum rules.   This way It Is advertising some of the crap that people have been banned for.

Do we need members so bad that we hook them in with our most negative stuff?

I agree with you in principle thelearner but what I didn't know previously is that it's possible to make the last post visible only to members, and once you're logged in. So there's no advertising invloved.

Regardless, I would prefer it remained hidden for the other reasons you stated.

I am curious what others think of the Pit/Chaos last post visibility?

I am not sure I have all the history correct but I think in the beginning, it was a place where folks could go unmoderated, start topics and have it out...  but then it was changed to being the Pit of unsavory stuff and one could not longer start topics there.

I wonder... if members dirtied it up... if they couldn't also clean it up...

I find much less objectionable going on and with the new experiments of Owner Permissions (aka member responsibility towards each other), it seems fitting to not hide something from members.

Now that I can see the last post, it does 'feel' normal in a way it never did before.
