We should all strive for happy endings. Imo

I suppose but then a Buddhist would tell you to stop striving.

The end is just a new beginning though so WTF?

RIGHT! Strive, Not strive ..its your life and your pick.I personally think we are better off with goals which we exert to meet, but theres no judge to say we failed or succeeded, so WTF. :)

Yeah.

Needs

Wants

Desires

We must satisfy our basic human needs.  Steal from Wal-mart if we have to.

Wants give us targets to shoot at.  Inspire us to work harder, do better at what we do.

Desires will keep us awake at night.

Aye sez I, An so we'll be keepin to the Code then.

Yeah.  Knowing what to expect from others is important.  Plans can be made and exicuted effectively.

Which reminds me, who started this thread and where are they?

I guess you and I are running neck 'n' neck in number of posts in this thread.

I wasnt counting, but you may be right about our relative count. Folks start threads they abandon, without seeming to have resolved the reason to create it. I guess its just whim to stimulate talk that wanes, or rejection of the response it got. Its weird... but If you are hovering around my interest in this thread,,, well I go to my Content, and if ive posted in a thread ,I tend to go back to see if im still involved, as policy I try to respond reliably to any thing directed at me, whether positive or not. You seem to do the same. I consider it very gentlemanly.

and why not i join you gentlemen of the code. just walked down town, saw a friend on the tavern cafe street patio. went to the corner and spoke with him and then i almost stepped in, mustve leaned like i was going to -- the owner stepped out and said "nope!"

ok, i said, then she said "when i kick you out, it is for two weeks" i deserved it, i said. then she said, "i kicked out darryl and"...she named a few other names,,i reckon i was supposed to know who she was talking about. i didnt. she said "you coulda got us shut down that night"  anyways, i stuck my hand out and told her my name and that i was sorry. and told her she did me a favor, becoz, i was a little too cheerful that night, and about to get generous.. i guess it's kinda like being suspended here, there is always another place to go, maybe i'll grab another water and walk some more,,,,,weather feels nice out.  oh, i didnt start this thread btw, but its in the off topic section and i am known to frequent such places

You mean like the TTC?

Yes Zero, sometimes we must be reminded of the Code.  It is so hard to remember everything we should remember all the time, especially when we become emotionally involved.

I normally hit the "View new posts since my last visit" (or however that is phrased).  I try to remember which threads I am commenting to and do a reading of posts since my last post to see if anyone has spoken to anything I have said.

And true, I actually feel bad if I miss something someone has said to me.  I never want anyone to feel I am ignoring them.  But then, there are many discussions I just will not or have no iterest in being a part of so I will skip over (I didn't want to use the word "ignore") them.

I have been accused a number of times of always wanting to have the last word.  While this is true in some cases it isn't the reason in most cases because what I am doing is responding so that the other person knows I have read what they said and offer any response I feel appropriate.

You mean like the TTC?

Well , yes ,, I was also drawing analogy between it and the pirate code of Pirates of the Carribean. :) As far as the TTC is concerned I cant see it other than as suggestion, a finger pointing in a direction rather than specific commandments. Its a document one works with , not obeys, per se.

Yeah, Im sure just responding , can seem argumentative,, cant help that, sometimes I just opt for clicking the button after deciding the good stuff has been covered , and , so as not to swamp or be swamped ,just  skip some discussions.  It seems like the right approach.

I still use the "Thank you" button as if it read "I read your post, have no disagreement or anything further to add" button.

But yes, your association of the TTC with the Pirate's Code is fair enough.
