Neidan: Refilling yuanjingqi, building the foundation
SecretGrotto replied to LaoZiDao's topic in Daoist Discussion
Thanks. I'm concerned, if a practitioner experiences all the signs of the Small Heavenly Orbit, and later the Large Heavenly Orbit, BUT they have only used widely available "false" Neidan teachings, should they restart their training? Is it definitely the case that such a practitioner only imagines that they have established the SHO, and that it is impossible to genuinely produce such a result from "false" Neidan teaching? -

"Again I put another question, 'We all know the saying that if the fertilizing fluid (Jing) is sufficient you desire no sexual activities, and Qi sufficient you no longer desire the food, and pre-heaven mind-will sufficient you won't sleep any more, would you please tell us how to make the three sufficient enough and how to know that the three are sufficient? ' My master observed, 'The revolution of small waterwheel, like the furling and unfurling of a bellows, plays a magnificent part in replenishing the Qi which, accumulating in lower elixir field, will reach the height of its growth sooner or later. When there is no fertilizing fluid (Jing) emerging Hui Yin acupoint will automatically close up, and the penis will gradually shrink till it has the same size as like a baby. Generally speaking, a male baby never possesses sexual desire, of which everybody knows. This phenomenon can be used to solve the question why a man, who has obtain the sufficient Qi and converted all fertilizing fluid (Jing), will never have the sexual desire." - http://www.taoiststudy.com/content/step-5-administer-fertilizing-fluid-jing2 Can it then be said that the condensation of Qi into Generative Force/Jing is a habit of the body, which is gradually stopped after sufficient sublimation of Jing into Qi because that maybe signals the body to stop the habit and not produce Jing anymore? Or is it specifically Generative Fluid that has to stop appearing at Hui Yin before sexual desire ceases, and that general Jing is still produced to fuel other aspects of physicality? EDIT: I refer to 'The Way to Eternity' at www.taoiststudy.com because there are many parallels to 'Taoist Yoga', sometimes it seems to even be quoting almost directly from it just with different terms and translation. Fertilizing fluid (Jing) in the above may refer to Generative Fluid, and thus, when all Generative Fluid has been converted into Generative Force->Qi, and no more Generative Fluid appears then Hui Yin will close naturally. So the condensation of Generative Force into Generative Fluid is the habit of the body that can be stopped so that no more Generative Fluid exists. However, when the paragraph says: "if the fertilizing fluid (Jing) is sufficient you desire no sexual activities," fertilizing fluid in this case must mean Generative Force, because if you have sufficient Generative Fluid it seems like you will definitely be prone to seeking a sexual outlet. "If you mistake the revolving of small waterwheel for the method that can be applicable for the whole process of converting the fertilizing fluid (Jing) to Qi, you are immensely mistaken, because the invention of it mainly aims at refilling fertilizing fluid (Jing) and compensating for the previous loss of fertilizing fluid (Jing) by the previous unrestricted indulgence in the desires and emotions, and partially transforming fertilizing fluid (Jing) to Qi. So here we can conclude that the small waterwheel makes up the initial means while harvesting Qi the subsequent one which, after the fertilizing fluid (Jing) has been restored to sufficiency, will supersede the former and be used for fully conversing from fertilizing fluid (Jing) to Qi." - http://www.taoiststudy.com/content/step-6-harvest-pre-heaven-vital-energy Above states that the Channel MCO/SHO is used to produce pre-heaven fertilizing fluid (Jing) or Yang Jing/Generative Force, which is really interesting, since the MCO moves Yang Qi in the Ren and Du channels so how would that produce Yang Jing? For sublimating Generative Force into Yin Qi firing the LDT is the main technique: "As soon as the pre-heaven Qi, in the form of pre-heaven fertilizing fluid (Jing), has been hoarded up in lower elixir field, practitioner should at once put into practice the method of transforming the pre-heaven fertilizing fluid (Jing). Settle your mind-will in lower elixir field, attach a good deal of attention to breathing in and breathing out---both processes should be carried out smoothly and extensively, not violently and hastily in the least. Launching the breathing in with mind-will ascending the Du Channel, and breathing out with your mind-will descending the Ren Channel. Breathing in and then breathing out for about thirty-six or seventy-two times you will get the feeling that the lower elixir field, of its own accord, begins to engage in the action of breathing in and breathing out as does the lung. Perceiving this practitioner should terminate the acquired breathing and again slip into profound stillness to put into practice moderate fire."

I bought Damo Mitchells 'Four dragons' book and DVD. There are a couple of short clips on youtube showing Damo and his students performing the sequences. The four dragons are very old and primitive qigong movements. It is pretty basic, but precision is required to some degree. The same benefit would probably be derived from any other similar qigong that involve more spinal movements. Damo goes and writes a whole book about very simple sequences, mainly dealing with how the movements can help purge and align the body. I'm doing the four dragons now instead of Ji Ben Gong and Wu Xing Gong, because I like the spinal involvement more and it feels less static.

Advice on where to begin on the physical/meditation path?
SecretGrotto replied to BearlyTao's topic in Daoist Discussion
There are unfortunately those type of discriminating students that, after trying a practice for less than 100 days and not seeing the type of result claimed, tend to abandon the practice and the teacher BECAUSE the practice was to be performed with blind faith and the mechanisms behind the practice was not explained properly. Modern students are bombarded with a vast array of teachings, not knowing if they are coming or going, and if something is not understood and practice results are lacking, they'll just move on to the next best thing. That is why it is important to UNDERSTAND the principles and mechanisms of each practice and how it harnesses the processes of the energetic physiology of the body and spirit, BECAUSE if a student understand the mechanism they'll know when to expect results, why results are lacking, and how to remedy the situation. Blind faith is everything that is wrong with religion today. Religion, arguably, will be deemed an abomination by the original teachers, because their teachings were misinterpreted and cast in stone with religion demanding that people be sheep and not ask questions. Some of the greatest yogis had plenty of teachers and they succeeded, because they kept asking questions, kept learning until they understood the mechanisms or found a teacher who could explain it. Examples are Sri Yukteshwar, Chunyi Lin, Pranabananda and Yogananda. Sure, there will be those other types of students who are willing to put in the 100 days or 300 days, and benefit greatly from the practice. However, if improper or deficient instruction makes them get stuck at a certain level, they'll be much less likely to switch practices and remain stuck, so to speak. -
Advice on where to begin on the physical/meditation path?

There is most definitely a set course that will lead to predetermined results. Read 'Taoist Yoga', there's a free PDF online. This may be somewhat inaccurate, and I would love a clarification from somebody who knows, but it goes like this: 1) Sublimate generative force into vitality/yin qi EVENTUALLY you see white light in 3rd eye, which is the sign vitality is 'saturating' 2) Keep sublimating generative force EVENTUALLY Channel Small Heavenly Orbit is definitely felt to start 3) Keep sublimating generative force AND spinning SHO EVENTUALLY Extremity Small Heavenly Orbit is felt in arms and legs 4) Keep sublimating generative force AND circulating Extremity SHO EVENTUALLY white light matures to be golden light in 3rd eye 5) Keep sublimating generative force AND circulating Extremity SHO EVENTUALLY Large Heavenly Orbit starts 6) Keep sublimating generative force UNTIL mortal gate closes and penis shrinks to that of a baby 7) ... Advanced stages follow, BUT they have definite roadsigns letting you know when to start a different practice, all leading to creating the immortal foetus and maturing it. This is Taoist Internal Alchemy - Bottom's up, working from the coarsest energy upward. A simultaneous Top-Down approach can be used with attunements, Fu Fa Shen, Stillness-Movement lineage connection/attunement, and the cultivation of Virtue for best effect. Since all the classic texts (I've ever read) explaining bona fide Internal Alchemy leading to a foetus and Yang Shen body use a Bottom-Up approach, I'm doubtful that a Top-Down approach alone can provide the same effect since the interface with the physicality is neglected compared to the Bottom-Up approach. Anyone please correct me here, and point me to a teacher who primarily use lineage attunement BUT also teach their students the intricacies of sublimation, starting the SHO, forming the internal and external medicine and the creation and maturing the foetus. -

Advice on where to begin on the physical/meditation path?
SecretGrotto replied to BearlyTao's topic in Daoist Discussion
At least for me, the key teaching was this: Gather the fuel 1) Treasure generative force and vitality by stilling the heart-mind. 2) Regularly sublimate generative force into vitality/yin chi. Meditating and doing all sorts of practices is like pushing a car uphill, when you can just get fuel and let the car do the work. I've struggled for years until the right teaching over-exclaimed the importance and methods of treasuring and sublimating the fuel. I highly recommend the book 'Taoist Yoga', where I found these teachings. To reiterate, simply gather the fuel and let the process unfold naturally. You'll be surprised at how fast things start happening then. Otherwise, if you do intense practices but constantly leak the fuel you won't get that far. Details 1) Pay attention to your scrotum, if it stirs or contracts in response to you seeing or sensing something attractive, then you can take that as a sign that generative force has condensed into generative fluid. You want to prevent this, because this is leaking the fuel precursor. Your senses are the five thieves that steals your vitality to allow you to indulge in sense experiences and stir the heart-mind. Remain ever aloof, nonchalant and cold and dead as thousand year ash in the face of any temptation. At least that is the ideal that prevents the heart-mind from stirring and leaking the fuel. Generative force is rationed out to the body, and it will seek an outlet, of which the path of least resistance is the mortal gate to the penis which will then stand erect, even in the absence of provocative thoughts. Now this is key: a) Sit cross-legged in meditation posture, focus on the lower dan tien, c) imagine a ray of light from your 3rd eye firing up the lower dan tien, you can put your hands as a mirror in front of lower dan tien to reflect and amplify the 3rd eye ray to fire the lower dan tien, d) put your left middle finger in the centre of your right palm and vica versa with your right middle finger, e) now tune the breath smooth and regulated as if the breath is blowing on a spark in kindling that you wish to ignite, tune the breath according to how much heat response you feel in LDT, f) keep meditating in this fashion, and you will see that the penis shrinks away in a matter of minutes. The above is key, because if you allow the morning wood to remain, the generative force is being spent partially by keeping the erection and you want to sublimate the generative force into vitality as much and efficiently as possible utilizing all generative force which appears. Also, if you allow the erection to remain, it will promote the stirring of desire. 2) The generative force is sublimated also as above. Yan Xin calls the highest of all technologies, the feedback loop that one creates by feeding the 3rd eye ray externally into LDT, which balances the yin and yang energies in the body. External energy can be fed into the feedback loop by imagining all the light of the sun, moon and stars concentrating as a light into the top of your head, then going directly to the 3rd eye to feed its ray. The breath, you will feel, affects the burning of the stove or LDT, and you can tune it dynamically to maximize heat in the LDT. It all comes quite naturally. I find that 3 half-hour sublimation sessions spread out per day produces a good result. The key is regular sublimation. You're pressing grapes to make juice, and your body releases new grapes gradually, which you get to press shortly afterward making the fuel of vitality. Neigong and qigong has for me been somewhat pointless until I learned to properly gather the fuel. Only in further stages will movement practices allow the body to align and purge blockages that will allow you to better start the Channel Small Heavenly Orbit, which is the workhorse of intermediate internal alchemy, since it helps to refine the energies and promote the sublimation of vitality into consciousness-level energy (shen). -

The Aetherius Society is Hacking Virtue with Network Theory
SecretGrotto posted a topic in General Discussion
For a while now I've been using the techniques pioneered by Dr. George King, who I have researched and found to be the real deal. This is info is a bit out there, and not for the uninitiated. His society, the Aetherius Society, is using network theory to maximize their virtue returns, and they are using extraterrestrial assistance during certain special times in the year to multiply virtue returns by 3000 times. Very interesting stuff. Dr. George King, through long years of receiving instruction from advanced extraterrestrials, stated that the path of Virtue is the path of spiritual growth in this new age. Yan Xin, if you read his speeches, also emphasizes the cultivation of Virtue above all else. Virtue is one of the three most important things to cultivate, Essential Nature and Eternal Life being two other. Virtue removes the obstacles reached at certain stages of the cultivation of nature and life, by invoking Divine Grace when Heaven is glad. If you look at Dr. King's Twelve Blessings, you will see that blessing intent is transmitted to all the great propagators of Virtue, ranging from the peace workers and healers to the Sun, the Lords of Karma and the Absolute itself. This exploits a very logical and well known result of network theory, which states that graph nodes with higher degrees (of virtue) influence a greater proportion of a graph. So by blessing the entities who have the highest Virtue, one also gains higher virtue oneself compared to blessing an entity with only subtle virtue. Secondly, there is an extraterrestrial craft known as Satellite nr. 3, which amplifies blessing intent during Push periods, which also magnifies virtue returns. It's sneaky, but endorsed by advanced races, and it feels to me like they might be on to something. http://www.aetherius.org/the-twelve-blessings/ http://www.aetherius.org/cooperating-with-the-gods/spiritual-pushes/ -

I'm not sure how to interpret that, please advise. I love how Dr. George King says, I'm paraphrasing: "Self-imposed limitation is the only way of attaining real freedom." In one of his channeled books he also explains how great Saturnian entities remain perfectly still as a large ovoid of light, yet move so actively in the spiritual world. -
I'll just stick with this: "To learn martial arts without internal qigong, one will regret this for life. To learn internal qigong without martial arts, one will enjoy countless wonderful benefits."

My own journey toward a worthwhile practice has been fraught with tribulation, doubt, lack of motivation, and an incessant search for real answers. You are on the right path if keep that immaculate ideal of real attainment always before you. Even if your spiritual search has to be your mistress, who you always keep in the back of your mind, and always come back to. The thing about meditation, especially for a beginner, is that it is fickle. Quite fickle. In the beginning it gives you a little taste of that sweet intoxication, but then for a while afterward it is withheld from you just to see if you are sincere. Just to kick you back into the manifest world, tempting you to forsake your attempt of extricating yourself from manifestation. Then you give up, but try again and again when new inspiration spurs you. That is why proper instruction makes all the difference, and is worth search for, worth reevaluating your practice for. You may go your whole life with a good practice, and a good teacher, but still miss the highest attainments due to wrong or deficient instruction. I'll be lucky if, in the end, my practice gives me good health, and I'll be grateful for it, but I will always aspire to the highest ideals. "When writing the above paragraph I could not refrain from tears (for it is not easy for students to meet enlightened masters). I have endured all sorts of difficulties and hardships in my search for well over thirty masters of whom only a few were truly enlightened whereas the majority were incompetent." - Taoist Yoga p.126 Chao Pi Chen stresses that it is the students responsibility to find competent teachers. Always be respectful, learn from all, but have compassion for yourself and your goal of fulfilling your highest possible destiny. It is your journey, your life, your responsibility. If you stop growing, start learning and seeking more, you will surely find the way if you keep your eye on that highest ideal. Remember, the Creative Imperative seeks to tempt and seduce you into lowering the vibratory rate of your life energy and becoming more engrossed in manifestation. The higher your vibrations become, the more difficult it will be to resist the temptation to stall or fall, even if at a very high state of attainment. Last night I was surprised by the warmth in my spine and of being reminded of the vivid memories of being a child waking up at night and having his spine always on fire. Can you remember that feeling?

"With the same determination, if the generative force is gathered for another hundred days an additional sixty-four chu of vitality are gained while the positive principle is increased to two units; the body now becomes very strong and all ailments vanish. If the gathering of generative force continues for another hundred days an additional sixty-four chu of vitality are gained with the positive increased to three units; all cavities in the body are cleared for rejuvenation, and the practiser's steps are light and quick with clear sight and good hearing. With continuous advance for another hundred days, another sixty-four chu of vitality are gained with the positive principle increased to four units; the practiser now feels very comfortable like a wealthy man who has all the means to enjoy life; his skin is lustrous and his white hair turns black (as before). After another hundred days, a further sixty-four chu of vitality are gained while the positive principle increases to five units; his spirits are very high and new teeth grow to replace the fallen ones. After yet another hundred days, another sixty-four chu of vitality are gained with the positive principle increased to six units; he enjoys the cream of life while restoring (his body) full to its all-positive state..." - From Taoist Yoga p. 19 If I may share, this morning after two weeks of following the Taoist Yoga instruction, I felt very comfortable. Uncharacteristically comfortable. It occurred to me that bliss must be a state of extreme comfort, because the feeling bordered on bliss. It is such a magnificent feeling and accomplished practisers are really underselling it, although I experienced just a glimpse as a beginner. Most books you will read on spiritual cultivation thoroughly undersells the pricelessness of this deepening comfort. It is something, if someone has a glimpse of it, will forsake everything to pursue it. It is a wealth that makes you feel like a wealthy man, even if you have no earthly possessions, and makes you enjoy the cream of life. Oh, what wonder! May all men learn the proper methods of sublimating generative force and treasuring vitality, as outlined in the incomparable Taoist Yoga.

Your best tips for almost instant success in Astral Travel? (my progress so far included)
SecretGrotto replied to 4bsolute's topic in General Discussion
I heard Phasing is very effective (from AstralPulse). Briefly, one should focus with a keen but calm, warm interest at the darkness behind closed eyes. Notice how random patterns appear and change, watch passively but with keen interest. Remain alert and aware, keep watching, and then eventually you'll just instantly find yourself phasing into something like a lucid dream. Or so they say... I've never had luck with AP, probably because you need to energize the lower and middle dan tien centres to have enough psychic energy to remember an AP afterward. So I'm starting from the bottom, with dual cultivation of essential nature and eternal life. AP is just a distraction in the marathon of internal alchemy. -
"10 THE METHOD OF GATHER VITALITY When (vital) breath vibrates and the penis stands erect, the practiser should press his middle fingers on the dragon and tiger cavities (in the centres of the two palms) raise his tongue to the palate to make a bridge linking with the channel of control, look up and to the left, breathe in to raise (vitality) to the region of the brain (ni wan) and then breathe out to lower it to the mortal gate (at the root of the penis). After several such ascents and descents, the genital organ will retract." Taoist Yoga changed my life, precisely because of this instruction. I consider myself fairly well read in the field of esoterics, but sometimes instruction needs to emphasized properly to stand out. Taoist Yoga emphasizes the method of gathering vitality, which is the key to get the alchemical process started, since it gathers the fuel for the process. A big problem I've had over the years is precisely this, gather vitality, because "generative force seeks an outlet" and I would get frequent erections that would would culminate in the stirring of desire. I did not know how to deal with the Morning Wood properly, which constantly resulted in the leaking of the generative force. With this profound instruction I now have a way to quickly and effectively sublimate the generative force so that it is not leaked. This is most valuable and for the first time in my life I can properly feel vitality gathering and Qi moving in my body and healing taking place. This is a golden key, together with the stilling of the heart and desires.

No ... join us: "From now on, pay no attention upon anything, the two eyes abstain from gazing outwardly, the two ears from hearing the outside, be on a vegetable diet, shorten the time spent on sleep, refrain from talkativeness and laughing, give up all contemplation and desires, court no comfort and ease, have no interest in differentiating the beautiful from the ugly. In this way you cleanse your heart constantly, as like a cicada drinking dew. After a long time you will feel refreshed and spirited. Like a tortoise remaining motionless in its dead-like state, you will imperceptibly prolong your lifetime and release you from the regularly unavoidable torture by ailments. "However, the precaution you should take is to discipline your heart is to guard against "five swindlers"---the eyes, ears, the nose, tongue, body---from surging up to wear away the pre-heaven nature from outside or within. Only when there is not any one of the seven kinds of emotions--joy, anger, melancholy, anxiety, grief, fear, and terror--- arising, the first five yin pre-heaven mind-wills responsible for producing the senses of taste, sight, hearing, smell, touch remain peaceful, two eyes gaze inwardly, two ears hear inwardly, the nose smells inwardly, the tongue rises gently against palate, the whole body remains motionless in silent sitting posture, the mind-will settles inwardly in lower elixir field, and fertilizing fluid (Jing) remains indifferent to any temptation, you are qualified for further advance in the pursuit of Tao." - http://www.taoiststudy.com/content/step-5-administer-fertilizing-fluid-jing1
