These are definitions that make sense to me, thank you. The part about a master, I have accepted that it is not something to start on my own.

So opendao in your school both qigong and meditation are considered bad or harmful for neidan? Correct me if I'm wrong.
-
A question to to all: having qigong as a base do you think it can be harmful to learning neidan, a useful basic excercises to build on or completely unrelated? I think the first view was expressed in another neidan thread which is why I ask. edit: nice timing Neophyte, we basically asked the same question

So how does the life that never comes down to Earth collect "mp yin qi"? Because without it they would be dead, right? Yin being the container without which yang has no reference frame. These gaps and breaks make having a certainty about these theoretical things seem strange to me although they are good for contemplation purposes. I would say this is more about efficiency in process than a strict law about connection. Grounding is easily achieved barefoot(or bare butt as the case may be) touching Earth and maybe for a powerful practice that requires alot of balance it becomes a necessity atleast for a beginner.

The opening post was about something that is not in the classical texts and making a contrast between what is found in the literature and what is done in the xiaoyaopai with the guidance of a FFS. Therefore not being found in classical internal alchemy texts seems to be implied. Well this is just my limited understanding. I think you are right about books, lineage not much available in English.

No comment on other things, but here's some food for thought: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/10321227/Alien-life-found-living-in-Earths-atmosphere-claims-scientist.html

From what I've seen actual sharing of methods on a forum even books isn't that common. Indeed might give wrong ideas using just a written format though I guess with talent and experience of the things mentioned in the books one can begin work until a teacher is found. And I agree with effilang, making the clear definitions is the perfect solution.
-
I think you need to read more carefully what effilang said on this thread.

I thought Vitalii has been consistently saying "qigong" is not neidan. In your school do you start straight from neidan practice?

I rarely use the ignore function and then I only used it for people who have no other purpose here than trolling. Because of this topic I checked my ignore list and the three people I found still to be in my ignore list were actually the same person(all banned). That said, if you can not feel compassion for someone ignoring them is much preferred.

Yes not being insulting is a skill I would very much appreciate. Having just had a similiar school vs. school here I'm going to give you a fair warning that as a warden I'm in a trigger happy mood for recommending such posts to be moved to the pit. edit to add: disagreeing is fine

You are convinced your school has the right interpretation but here on TTB no school is given preference. If you wish to represent your school here why don't you start your own thread to introduce your school instead of attacking other schools?

Dreams? I find being content with what I have better and slowly improving from there.

That was an interesting link to the blog before you edited it hagar. Some crazy building projects(the cruise ship and bridge for holiday traffic made me shake my head) going on in Norway it seems that we never hear about here in Finland. If only I could read Norwegian better. Man can try to make the earth follow but earth and nature will claim it back in time with infinite patience.

It's natural to get some offtopic posting in these threads but please take some time to think before posting(you will notice I'm far from perfect in this regard but atleast I'm working on it). In regard to insults, please just don't go there. The TTB rules are not strict by most forum standards but I personally think it's an opportunity to develop as a person. The more freedom we have, the more we can show what type of people we are. You might not think developing as a person is what it's about... but from my personal experience think serious meditative practices improve our ability to be calm in face of adversity and also, by being calm in the face of adversity we also improve in our energy practices. You won't become a saint but you will atleast know to conserve your energy. TLDR; I hope we can avoid further devolving into attacking people and their practices.

I agree with both your sentiments here C T and Taomeow. I personally buy local and organic when I can. There is a group of bodybuilders here who buy organic eggs directly from farms, I think they get it at the same price as store shelf eggs. They are doing the same with meat now I think and other people are joining them now. You can visit the farms and see that the animals are well kept, not like a horror show... Even if it's interesting I don't want to derail any further off topic from giving advice on turning vegetarian, maybe worth a new thread?
-
Yes now we are getting somewhere more interesting. Stop eating McDonald's garbage and buy local, organic is the best starting point if you want to be moral. It isn't really vegetarian vs meat-eater, that's more of a diversion that stops us from thinking about the real things. If you hate vegetarians or meat-eaters with a passion it will just take energy away.

Once in my teens I was walking by the lake and a really fat crow(well prepared for winter!) was sitting on a branch near to me. I imitated a crow sound to him and he got startled. It was like he was looking at me and thinking "Did that human really talk or am I imagining things!", he kept a close watch on me as far as we could see each other.

This stuff is what most cows are fed. Grains and soy: Since the meat will be fed with the same modern agriculture monstrosity using the grains and soy she hates she is blaming the wrong people. She's making a null argument. The same stuff that kills the birds, mice under machines is being used to feed most of the meat in western countries.

Wish we had ravens here, but I'm more than fine with crows.

I think I know what you mean, but that is mostly the polarising debate between vegans and meatlovers. They both love to shock each other and create positions that are untenable. I almost don't eat any meat can't really digest it, which is why I stuck to vegetarian once. I was drawn into the debate every time some one found out I didn't eat meat(no vegetarians here back then!)... But I love fish and fishing isn't that much different than killing a cow in my viewpoint. My preferred food is organic straight from the farm or forest. It's best one find out for oneself what type of diet suits you based on your own ethics(not someone elses ideas of morality) and ultimately your health.
