great article! reading the rmax stuff makes me wonder why i got such great teachers in martial arts because they are saying the same stuff only without as much internal taoist stuff which to me makes alot of sense as opposed to Professor Sunshine's disconnect with the taoist lingo.... to me the poetic, flowery names of the taoist arts actually helps me quite a bit.... western though i may be.

I wan't to stick to positive things so the greatest thing about that whole thing was pushing hands with one of his students.... its always enlightening to push hands with people from different schools.

I actually did a weekend thing with this Ahn guy and I wouldn't but alot of weight in this idea.....but thats my opinion. I suspect he has mixed this up with opening ming men which could be mistakenly and ineffectively done this way I guess.

Peter, I have seen Tom Brown pop up in your posts and wonder what you have to say about his classes. Pretty good, which ones, where, and other such things. I really enjoyed his first books about when he was a kid but haven't been able to find his latter ones.... which latter ones would you suggest?

I stayed with some crazy russian ascetics and every morning and evening before and after work we would go to the river and submerge about three times or more..... if not we at least went to the pond on the proprty we stayed on.... the pond was looked down on because it was warm compared to the river. It certainly did clear the mind..... also the run thru the tall grass drenched in the cold morning dew was great too. ahhh those were the days..... now its just cold showers.... but thanks sean for the link to the rmax thread..... the cold buckets were a favorite too when there was no river or on the road..... just keep them out side overnight so they can get cold..... kinda hard in the summer.

Here is part of a matt furey email that fits in here. How to Zap Fatigue Within Seconds It's amazing but true. Most people get up tired and go to bed tired. Going to bed tired is somewhat understandable - but waking up tired is inexcusable. How can you be tired when you wake up. You haven't even done anything yet, right. Okay, perhaps you didn't get enough hours of rest. Or perhaps you got the hours of sleep, but there wasn't enough rest in the sleep. Or maybe you're under immense stress and this is affecting your energy level. All of the above is understandable - yet, it can still be overcome, and with ease. Let me tell you how you can take 5 simple steps to greater health and energy ... NOW. Here they are: 1. Before lopping off to bed at night, mentally program yourself for energy. How do you do this. Simply say 'I'm going to wake up totally energized tomorrow.' Why is this important. It's important because most people say 'I'm tired' when they go to bed and this leads to them waking up in the same mental state they went to bed with. 2. When you wake up in the morning, immediately focus on a big image of something you want to do, be or accomplish. 3. As you focus on this mental picture, tell yourself, 'I am going to do everything I set out to do today.' When you say this to yourself, say it with ENTHUSIASM. 4. After doing this, sit up in bed, pull your feet close to your buttocks and begin to massage the kidney point at the bottom of each foot. Start with your left foot. Massage deeply at least 50 times, then massage the right foot the same number of times. Doing this will amaze you. It will cause your energy level to rise ... and fast. Not only that, it is one of the cornerstones to raising your sekxual energy to a peak. This is covered in detail in my course on Chuang Shang de Gong Fu. Check it out http://www.chineseculturesecrets.com 5. When you're finished massaging the kidney points of each foot, raise your energy further still by doing some Hindu squats and Hindu pushups, as well as some deep breathing - http://www.mattfurey.com/conditioning_book.html - or the Magnificent Seven, which attacks the waistline like no other program on the planet - http://www.mattfurey.com/combat_abs.html 6. After doing your training, take a cool to cold shower. The hot shower is fine to finish up with .. but start with the coldest water you can take. It will increase the vital energy in your body in an instant. Well, my friend, that's all for now. Kick ass - take names! Matt Furey P.S. Truth be told, I could have simply told you to do Hindu squats, Hindu pushups and so on to raise your energy level. At they will - and they do it immediately. But... here's the deal: I believe in strengthening everything on the inside as well as the outside - and what I have taught you today goes to the heart, soul and kidneys of the matter in a way that you've probably never experienced before. These six steps will blow you away - and ... when you add Combat Conditioning into the mix - LOOK OUT. You'll become the master of your Universe. To find out more ... go to http://www.mattfurey.com/conditioning_book.html
