What happens . . . if Chi is directed into the 3rd eye (?)
Mudfoot replied to Lataif's topic in Daoist Discussion
What about being able to see a person cringe in all eight layers of the etheric field while being zapped by the power of the almighty LDT? Isn't that a worthy spiritual goal? -
Neidan ( all experiences and opinions wanted)
Mudfoot replied to Clouded_mirror's topic in Daoist Discussion
Lets sort this out: Most Bums don't practice Nei Dan. A majority of those that indulge in discussing the subject seems to be self-taught, mostly with translated books. Those that claims to be members of a traditional school refuses to speak about specific practices, instead taking abstract. Those few that do speak about methods are called frauds or ignorant. Leads to interesting discussions... ð- 163 replies

Shouldn't it be five students for five levels? You can read a bit about the five levels on Wong Kiew Kit's Shaolin Wahnam site. And then you have to decide if his interpretation is valid and useful for you. I think Damo Mitchells latest book (chopped to pieces in another thread) also take a pick on the subject. Or, you can find any live teacher of Shaolin qigong who also probably will have a (different) version of it.

I did state that I didn't get it, you have that in your quote, so you might safely assume I did not understand your explanation. And I do not understand how this is related to Nei Dan, but again, I do not practice Nei Dan. I just sometimes discuss it on this forum. So, to simplify: I do not understand how (A, which I do not understand) is related to (B, another subject I do not understand). ð At least I know I'm ignorant. Btw are you allowed to visualize in Hsing-I? Bruce Frantzis say you should feel, not visualize.

Isn't this a dynamic movement? At times, the right hand is on top, at others, the left? How does that fit?

Would you prefer "tradition" or "school" over system? I do not do chinese, but the word "Pai" do tend to pop up in this context. And do not most traditions and school systematisize (can you say that in english?) their teachings? Or are you bickering about semantics? ---------------------------------------------------- Added later: while on the subject of semantics, I am sure you will not find any reference to the word chakra in the "genuine" nei dan schools. The question is, will you find energy centers in the same area, with similar/same energetic properties, in Nei Dan and traditional chakra - based systems? And if so, is there a difference? We will never find out! ------â------------------------------------ But your music theory is probably valid. I am in the same position with that as I am when reading Cleary's collected translations on daoist classics: I still don't get it. So obviously the error in this equation is me!

You have tried to explain this for a long time, and I must say I cannot follow this thought. Can you explain this as if I was in eight grade, you know, with small words? Very small words. Small. Which, in the case of the LDT, are not the same. The LDT would be the kanda (bulb), at least in some systems. But then, some daoist teachers tend to include a larger area, and for example JAJ does include the front and back chakra points (or something like that).

Long story, starts with "a teacher said....".
-
Does that include the I Ching? I can understand that a person interested in a spiritual practice is interested in follow that method back to the roots of the spiritual tradition you define yourself as a practitioner of. Doesn't Chan and Shaolin focus on Bodhidharma because he is the direct link to the Buddha? Wouldn't be as cool to be a part of a later indo-himalayan movement....

For someone who really have no clue about chinese culture or history, is there a better interpretation of Chapter one of the Chuang tzu, about the big fish (Clearly trans) than going Nei Dan?

And a psychopath might be attached to create pain and so on, rather then just being in a flow. Ok.

So this does not include achieving pleasure?

Unfortunately I read that, and my imagination created a very disturbing image. ð

Lets say there is a reason I haunt an english based forum.....

And when you feel ready, I am sure that an in-depth thread about WLP will keep us warm now that cold and darkness descend on the northern hemisphere.

Santi for the lungs : but other organs ?
Mudfoot replied to rideforever's topic in Daoist Discussion
Yes. If someone is looking for a strong stance with a spiral flow, the qilin stance should be on the list. The qilin stance has a couple of drawbacks: It is slightly difficult, and the "sweet spot" where things really happens is tighter than in most stances in my tradition. -

I consider it a translation error.(The secret of the golden flower)
Mudfoot replied to dosa's topic in Daoist Discussion
You know what I am saying ðĪŠ First someone speaks about a chinese term. Then someone imply that this term is really, really important, and if the rest here do not understand how it is defined in (xxxx) Pai, we know nothing. Then someone fails to describe what the term means related to actual practice. Descent to lower regions follow swift. PS I know, it is just Nei Dan envy. DS- 41 replies

I practice standing. Full lotus is a no-no, popped a meniscus trying to kick a dudes head in my late teens... ð In a proper standing position you can do most of what you can do in full lotus, and some things you (I, actually) cannot do in lotus.

The method I was taught from my main teacher only requires touch with one hand and one foot on the tree. Makes me motion sick though if there is a wind, so I tend to use a no-touch method with trees.
-
That would depend on the method. Some methods are supposedly dependent on you being an out-doorsy person.

What is your opinion on the possibility of doing an actual relevant translation of a chinese text? If just "ling tai" is translated: 1) Pedestal of Awareness 2) Terrace of the spirit 3) Numinous terrace And these are just three examples. The possible number of permutations of a text is swindling.- 41 replies
