Buddhism & Hinduism/Vedanta: Same or Different?
silent thunder replied to old3bob's topic in General Discussion
well... at least you're not bitter about it. -
In my experience it is disturbances in xing and ming that likewise disturb qi, flow and distribution. Religious thinking and influence is a major disturbance in many people's lives... (particularly if they don't happen to agree/adhere with the dominant religious force in their native or current habitat). Leaving, living with, trying to adopt, choosing to reject... all quite challenging depending on one's xing, ming and baseline natural state.

Son and I saw Dylan a few months ago @ Hollywood Bowl with Willie n Crew... absolute legend. Just found this rare gem. Rather amazed at the quality of some of these 60's n 70's live tv performances.

and your statement seems to imply that there's something to achieve or acquire via some requisite process in order to take us to a something, or away from something else when our nature is our nature... -

Seeing, Recognising & Maintaining One's Enlightening Potential II: Open Tradition Edition
silent thunder replied to forestofclarity's topic in General Discussion
Such a strong point about health... without health, what else among the material can be enjoyed or made use of... not food, not travel, being sick in grand clothes, being too sick to be with friends and family? Missing moments with those we love? Health is paramount in the material. And as far as commodities go, or currencies and value. The highest value in my experience has settled in awareness. Attention is the one commodity of life beyond compare. Attention is the currency of moments... it is the currency of life and living. What we allow ourselves to attend to in awareness is what we spend our life upon. Our life is comprised of the moments of attention that make up our life and if i count myself truly wealthy, it is in the grand fortune to have formed and shared myriad loving and cherished moments with inspiring and beautiful people, places, animals, and the rest of the ten thousand! -
МОНОЛОГ ПИЛОТА ЧЕРНОГО ТЮЛЬПАНА As I heard it from a friend from Ukraine back in 1995.. When the dead were flown home during the Afghanistan War (russian incursion), some referred to the pilots who flew them as carrying home Black Tulips. 'The Black Tulips we bury in the ground'. The bitter rewards of war. So many Black Tulips planted... I wake most mornings with a song playing in mind. this mourning... it was black tulips heavy mourning for all those mired in the midst of conflicts not of their choosing...

Is there a "safe" way to contact spirit of recently departed
silent thunder replied to dontknwmucboutanythng's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
The dissociative aspect of localized awareness seems a tricky aspect and one of the most compelling 'side paths'. When i am experiences reality as a singular, 'seperate' unit, this can be incredibly encompassing and all consuming. Luckily death flips the coin and resolves the equation so to speak. and all the while, we are never seperate by even a hair's width for even a millisecond, ever. -

The metaphor of the onion resonates with significance in my awareness. For, at the center of the onion... beneath all the layers... lies emptiness. -

@dontknwmucboutanythng if there are unresolved aspects of the relationship, or a need on one end or the other, then they will contact you. In the dreamscape is rather common for this to occur. -

Is this forum still about Taoism...?
silent thunder replied to wandelaar's topic in Forum and Tech Support
Not a fight, but a dynamic trilarity. Opposites are not in opposition. They are complementary. They support each other. When Niels Bohr created his family crest he chose this latin phrase and the older red/black taoist symbol to complement it. Contraria sunt complementa Opposites are complementary. -

My Home is inside me. I am always Home. I cannot be lost. This saying is from the Sami People who are nomadic and follow the reindeer herds from Scandanavia to Mongolia. Spirit is like Home, but even closer... like tao. We are never seperate from tao, ever, by a hair's width, for even a micro-second. Cultivate presence, here and in this moment and it will unveil.

Highlights for me, that we often don't know the end result of our 'help' (or interference)... for us, or others. Especially without presence and awareness...

Everyone post some favorite quotes!
silent thunder replied to GrandTrinity's topic in General Discussion
This singular quote by Khalil transformed my retiscence to become a Father, into a willingness to participate in the shared dance of life's continuation of itself. "Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not for you, And though they are with you yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts, For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far. Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness; For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable." ~Khalil Gibran -
Depth and breadth of insight combined with genuine caring is how I'd describe Trunk's contributions here as they've impacted me. Much gratitude Brother!

Been coming across old posts thought to make a place to recall some Bums who are wandering elsewhere and are missed. @gentlewind he and I joined same day I believe. He has published a couple ebooks of poetry since he left. @BaguaKicksAss her direct insights and pure manner always kicked my butt in the best way. @GrandmasterP we lost touch with him when he retired and moved to the coast. I imagine him watching the waves. @Brian I miss his insight and humor.

Celtic influences, lyrical melodies, deep sound, somber yet not depressive. Insightful lyrics. A welcome new artist on the list to track often.
