  2. Why gendao is worth having on this forum

fair enough... we all have our window on the gem. for me coincidence gave way to synchronicity by the gods I miss @BaguaKicksAss!!! May she thrive whever she be, in her kicking of arses and her circles of walking!
  3. Levitation and possibly flight?

I'm great at flying! My landings could use some work...

  5. Levitation and possibly flight?

levitated twice in my young life or rather, localized mind harbors vivid memories of such... once out of body while exiting the dream state and once wide awake, off the back of our couch These days, I'm more interested in emulating the high skill of the likes of Liminal_Luke than floatsies. Integrity, Sincerity and Poise. Those are siddhis I crave.

    Coincidence? or....
  7. The scandal of me sitting in full lotus padmasana

on the topics of beans and farting... Let us not void the conversation of Pythagorus. Who refused himself beans, due to their phallic and mystical properties and due to their tendency to cause 'the venting of the spirit' in most noble man. For Pythagorus has been attributed one of my most beloved quotes of wisdom. "Remain silent, or say something better than silence..." Perhaps he understood the detriments to cultivation of 'silent but deadly'? sincerely, silent thunder
  8. Everyone post some favorite quotes!

“Life, according to Zen, ought to be lived as a bird flies through the air, or as a fish swims in the water.” -- D.T. Suzuki "The right art is purposeless, aimless! The more obstinately you try to learn how to shoot the arrow for the sake of hitting the goal, the less you will succeed in the one and the further the other will recede." -- D.T. Suzuki
  9. About to head out by myself for a time soon. Next week I think. Time to disconnect on one level... to reconnect at another.
  10. What are you listening to?

this is still my favorite... My gal was pregnant with our son, when we saw them last, at the legendary Hollywood Bowl. I stood behind my gal, hands on her womb the entire show, swaying. Every time Lisa Gerrard sang, he danced. They've gotten back together and are touring Europe. They'll be in Los Angeles in May this year, a week before my wife's Birthday. I got tickets for the three of us. He can dance next to us this time
  11. What are you listening to?

Going back to the early 90's. My gal and I in our first and second apartments. I used to put these guys on loop and my gal and I would just dissolve into each other's presence as we flowed in, through and around each other through our home for hours. We studied and played the Jerzy Grotowski method. It was the precursor to my interest in Qi Gong and moving meditation forms.

I'm reminded of a sign that hangs on the door of a dive bar that I pass on my way to our local noodle shop. When they open the door to the bar, the sign can be read as you walk by: No man is entirely useless. Even a bad man is useful as a good example of how not to be. I smile and thank them silently for the reminder that I'm not entirely useless... Then go devour a bowl of spicy noodles with a frosty cold beer.
  13. Opening the Dragon Gate of the Antarctic

Oh yea we got those! incredible patterns. I always called it Pixie Breath... really mesmerizing. Haven't ever seen it since moving away from Canada and Minnesota.
  14. Sumer: the "black-headed" vs. the "red-faced"

Does anyone else recall the Archeologists who claimed to have found the wreck of an Egyptian vessel in the waters off the coast of Brazil? The discovery would be over twenty years ago, closer to thirty. Early 90's. No recall of the source, but it was not sideline news, it was a major carrier and the original story was followed up. Seem to recall it remarked on in a book as well, about morphological similarities in Southern America and North Africa as represented in sculptures and bust carving found throughout S. America. Before they could get back and really dig into the discovery, they found the Brazilian Government had dumped over it and any traces were buried under tons of refuse and garbage... anyway, just jogged what was a very intriguing memory for me back then... a story I retold many times over the years.
  15. Don't eat street food in China

We've slashed our fish consumption quite a bit, especially in the last decade and recent years... even more. Shrimp... anything from the Gulf... not a freaking chance. Chinese farmed fish... nope. Pickings are slim, but my gal is a hunter and a mermaid at heart, she finds the clean good stuff and we enjoy it even more as it's not always available. Particularly when eating out I avoid fish. Just no way to know what the source is, despite what they say... guess I'm cynical, or just had too many system red alert signal sessions like Nungali to be willing to play roulette any longer. Reeeeeally tired of feeling off from crap food any more. I'll just skip a meal, rather than eat dump food. It's not all gloom though, by any means, Torrance has a truly massive Farmer's Market each Saturday and Tuesday. All venders must be locally sourced within 50 miles to participate. Scores of amazing produce venders, organic Bison, organic cheeses, local raw honey... it's amazing. The line for the eggs is always the longest...
  16. Opening the Dragon Gate of the Antarctic

I miss Winter. Never minded Winters in Minnesota. They were amazing to me. Just need the right gear, really to be comfortable. And few memories are more intoxicating than one of my solo cross country treks, catching a sun break, just after a light ice storm in Minnesota. It was early afternoon, temps hovering around but moving toward freezing with a light drizzle. Heard the pull and didn't hesitate... Tossed the skiis in the truck and headed out to the trail head. By the time I'd arrived, temp dropped to perfection, freezing the rain covering the world in a light case of crystal water. Turned to snow for a bit, then died off, leaving silent crystal perfection, or so I thought... Then the Sun broke out and I stood their gape mouthed at the glowing crystal forest of silence. Peak moment. Such a gift! I may forget my own birthday someday, but I'll carry that my whole life.

    !!! Love The Hu!
  18. What are you listening to?

They're so dang tight, in the pocket, so technical and clean and so hard! I found these guys just click hounding on youtube, but usually I get new music at work. I work with a ton of musicians who moonlight on tv and film sets as electricians/grips/propheads between tourd, or until they get their break... so I'm always asking asking bugging picking... who's into what and then taking copious notes. (cuz i can't seem to remember when I'm in the store any more).
  19. The Human Spirit, Rowing Across the Atlantic

Don't think it was a new version, old school property version, but in good shape with a few harrowing photos that gave me goose bumps. Utterly gobsmacked that he went back. I think Shackleton knew his health was failing and he didn't want to die at home in bed, so he headed out for an Adventurer's death. Chilling book. Incredible Fortitude. Now that guy was an inspirational leader...

  21. What are you listening to?

Show is starting to ramp up now after a month of budget wrestling matches and indecisiveness on behalf of the Producers and Art Department. But they have found their drive and the purse strings have opened so... We'll be picking up our third stage and a new mill this week. Going to be crazy time again for the forseeable next month or two. This will be playing on my headphones pretty much daily on loop, as I channel my inner ocean currents to counteract all the crazy.
  22. The Human Spirit, Rowing Across the Atlantic

My son, wife and I recently read the biography of this trip aloud together, in turns... wow.wow.wow! Three years! Every single man came survived... gob-smacked is the term I used too throughout the harrowing account, particularly when they realized they were going to have to kill, butcher and eat their dogs. I can't imagine the fortitude involved in that process. no. fucking. way. And then, after it was done... Shackleton made the rounds and asked the men if they wanted to accompany him back there for another go, some years later! stone cold crazy mate... stone cold.
