Does craving cold drinks have a meaning?
silent thunder replied to redcairo's topic in General Discussion
Cold drinks are one of the few things both of my TCM teachers mention frequently as a really bad thing that should be avoided. edit to add: unfortunately they didn't say anything about how to avoid other than willpower and mindfulness. -
Why do some progress faster than others?

If it's really your intent... you will find a way. If it is not... you will settle for an excuse. -

Sign me up. I've been an Independent since my Father described the system to me when I was 10. That was Carter and Reagan in the 1979/80 election process. Electoral College, Cronyism, the economy of favors, gerrymandering of congressional districts to distort representation, Oligarchical representation, Corporate favoritism, economic warfare, classism... Sign me up neighbor!

My self prescribed treatment will be equal parts kombucha, vodka and sleep. I'll learn the results tomorrow. No matter who becomes president... I don't sense many 'winners' in this process. G'night Bums... keep your monkey mind to a minimum and your heart wide open.

With all the bitter back and forth, I still just see bait fish, arguing over which shark gets to feed on them. I voted... now how do I take a shower on the inside?

Energy Feeling and Pain Around the Heart.
silent thunder replied to Shad282's topic in General Discussion
First, I'd consult with my teacher. If my teacher wasn't a Dr. of TCM, I would also consult a Dr. of TCM and a Western Physician.- 84 replies

Is the wudang orbit all that it's cranked up to be?
silent thunder replied to Oneironaut's topic in Daoist Discussion
There is a Tibetan method 'The Ruby Red Eyes of the Dragon'. Could you be thinking of this? -
Stripping away untruths that cloud our perspectives and filter our experience of reality is a painful and downright terrifying process. It's usually far easier to remain within the familiar bonds of our self inflicted, long held untruths that yield the predictable painful process we call our lives, than to begin dissolving and rupturing the illusory perspectives in favor of truth which seems massive beyond reckoning and a near complete unknown. To paraphrase what 9th mentioned, I would echo with, "That which is truth... terrorizes the illusory."

My process no longer values 'trying' to do things. I value being. To me TRY is an acronym that stands for 'To Resist Yourself'. Trying introduces energy to a process that isn't required or helpful. Just do. Wu Wei. As you said... pure being. Effortless authenticity of self. No effort required to just be that which you already are... Tension, effort, are the natural result of the mental process of wishing things were not as they are... Just be. -

How in the world does one not let this election stuff get to you
silent thunder replied to Taoway's topic in General Discussion
In a country as large and culturally varied as America, no decisions or policies brought by any politician will be favorable, supported and accepted by a meaningful majority. There is simply too much variety of perspective and perceived value to achieve real unity on the level of duality, so this current process is utterly natural. We live in a predatory world system... even the plants. Look at nature, energies always settle in balance. How that plays out is based on the interplay of the essential qualities of all elements flowing within the system. Politics is not separate from nature. What we are observing now, is the current expression of the combination of elements within our system. We are exactly where we are, because there is no other way we could be... and America exists not unto itself, separate and autonomous. We are all interlinked inexorably with all other systems within the overall flow of life on this planet, (which is not isolated unto itself either). We are the expression of our collective reaction to the conditions of the system. The most potent force of change in my life, is shift of perception. As my perception shifts, so does my reality. To offset the sense of paralysis brought on by observing the seemingly untouchable and nasty process of politics on the national scale, I get more active locally, where my small amount of force, can have an observable affect. -
In my experience, the universe is comprised of manifestations of interwoven, co-arising and completely interdependent patterns of energy within a field of awareness... yet there are, from certain perspectives, identifiable patterns and thus... Identification with certain patterns arising in this field results in the very understandably yet distinctly illusory sense of 'unique self', 'individuality' and separateness from those patterns not identified with ("i did this", is a fine example); subsequent actions taken by the 'sense of unique self, identified with one pattern' are not so much expressions of uniqueness as they are predictable patterns themselves.h The Norse talked about Fate being a river. You could fight the current (conditions of life beyond your pattern, or control), or you could flow with the river (wu wei), either way, the conditions of the patterns beyond your identifiable pattern, will still carry you in the flow of the overall fields in the reality that is underlying awareness. Perception tied to a specific pattern results in the illusion of 'powerful, personal choice' exerted upon the other 'separate' patterns, when, in my experience, much of what we call choice, is the tendency to apply meaning after an event, to justify the compulsive, predictable response, to assuage the fear response to 'not being in control'.

Is the wudang orbit all that it's cranked up to be?
silent thunder replied to Oneironaut's topic in Daoist Discussion
Such profound gratitude for the amazing humans, walking our plane with love and a desire to help! What gifts they bring. Zhou Ting-Jue and Wang Li Ping both affected the field of my awareness in paradigm disintegrating ways... not in ways I didn't expect... but in manners that I didn't even know could be affected... I was... how to put it, it's like my energetic essence was rung like a bell... and my experience of life shifted... a manner of being and a level of experience that was there all along, but unnoticed in the way I imagine many fish are unaware of water. In the resonance of this shift, it was like vibrating in a new manner that revealed levels of reality previously not even contemplated... As I look back on it, there is a constant breath like expansion and contraction... flowering and receding... outward/inward, a simultaneous expansion to the extents of imagination and contraction into the depth of stillness which is at its core, connected to everything and every non-thing. In the resonance of this reality altering, profoundly simple, awareness, the old way of viewing and experiencing life is shelled. I can still look at my old way of viewing the world, but it's like holding an empty scarab carapace. An incredibly detailed and uncannily familiar carapace... but a small, tiny shell of a box like 'thing', so small, a frighteningly tiny, three dimensional 'thing'. Regarding the MCO, it's been consistently downplayed by my in person teachers and tends to be emphasized only in books and conversations. Repeated questions about it were met with a tone of "the MCO is open and flowing in all humans beginning in the womb. If it is not flowing your body is not alive" Do not obsess on the MCO. It is a natural process and can be a useful tool. It will become more useful naturally with the practice, with no special prodding or attention. When you sit, sit. When you stand, stand. When you walk, walk. s Do the work. Nature sorts itself. edit: quote mishap
