  4. Anyone notice a change of taste after Qigong?

Interesting. I couldn't say, I don't eat for at least an hour after working with forms. I do have tea, but the taste changes with each pot...

I see and swim with them regularly when I practice at Redondo Beach. Simply awesome!
  6. Chi Practice for Drumming

I've done a lot of hand drumming. Could the difference in sound be related to the difference in the size of her hands?
  7. Do Non-Citizens Vote in US Elections?

  8. What I have found is that continued practice gathers inertia. Inertia carries me through lapses into old habits. Practice for hundreds of days in a row gathers enough inertia to carry me over a period of no practice, or sometimes brings me to a point where I feel the need to change my practice to a different focus for a time. As inertia is gathered and maintained, I find greater mental and physical peace, emotional stability, I take things less personally, useless habits fall away easily as desire to pursue them are not present. I experience less dualistic thinking, my vibration is higher, lighter and I abide more easily in contentment whatever is happening around me. Most traditions I've encountered stress if you're going to start cultivation 90-100 day commitment is a good marker to gather initial inertia. More importantly than that, I no longer berate myself if I miss a day or take some time off. The uselessness of self abuse and judgement is so apparent now, I kind of chuckle when those thoughts randomly show up. Love yourself. and again, the most important part of my practice has nothing to do with breathing, forms or visualizations. The core of my practice is Kind Heart Quiet Heart Sincere Heart
  9. Buddhist Relics Tour

I encountered these at the Bower Museum in California some 12 years ago. It was intensely powerful. I highly recommend it if you're able...
  10. Incense

I use a variety. Sage is always around the house, Cedar, Sandalwood and Nag are regulars as well. Over the last few years, though for working with in meditation or qigong, I prefer using an oil burner and a blend I happened across at a retreat.
  11. Self hacks/Health hacks

I've relaxed on my nutrition, compared to where I was a few years ago. I'll eat some things in the last few months that I've avoided for a while, and it's mainly about opening up to the energy of the moment and sharing with people I love. My approach to eating has changed considerably. I'm much more aware of my state of being before and especially during my meals. Eating in a state of intentional joy, focusing that energy through my food as I'm consuming it, as our energies are combining is wonderful. For a while now I've been cooking and preparing the meals with this process, but recently, since the passing of my Father, I'm really aware of occupying a place of joy or simple gratitude and making that the focus of the meal. Powerful. It's bleeding over into other aspects now. Where I'm particularly picky these days is with everything I consume mentally. What am I choosing to read? What kind of media am I opening my mind up to? How much unintentional violent and dysfunctional information am I being exposed to? What thought paths do I allow my self to meander down? With what am I feeding my mind?
  12. trusting spirits?

I think just because they don't have a body, doesn't mean they're smart, or nice... As with all things... discernment is invaluable.
  13. Jeet Kune Do

One of my teachers was an early student of Bruce. He taught a mixture of Shao Lin Five Animal and JKD. I had a very similar feeling to the one you describe.

  17. Sikhism

Interesting question. Can't agree with ThisLife as about where to find info though... I find there to be nothing reliable about wikipedia.
  18. Is celibacy for 10 years realistic?

I've never experienced much use in trying to build up the spirit by beating or denying the flesh. I build up the spirit by building the spirit, not by focusing on denying some other aspect of myself. That said, there are natural cycles I've not intended, yet have occurred and celibacy for some periods of my life have happened very naturally and with no struggle, nor suffering. I just stopped seeking or engaging in sex for a time. Life moves in cycles. I intend to follow Nature, Nature follows Tao.
  19. What do you think of loyalty?

Depends on the situation. It's good to be loyal to spouse, friends, pets. It's not so good to be loyal to say, abusive parents, or spouses, or friends.
  20. Kung-fu Movie Stars

Nope, I haven't seen The Raid, but I'll check it out. I'm with you on Tarantino, he has a tendency to go into shock porn and it takes me out of the story, ruining the film. Any more, I avoid his stuff.
  21. Getting Up at Sunrise

Circadian Body Rhythms For The Win.
  22. Kung-fu Movie Stars

I was so happy when in the middle of Kill Bill, Gordon Liu suddenly popped on the screen. Nice move Quentin. So along with those mentioned, I'd add Gordon to the list. and Tony Jaa as well...

  24. What would you tell your 20 year old self?

If you love it, if it feeds your soul, never give up on it... if not, don't worry about it, don't obsess on it, just let it be. If you are betrayed or hurt, don't waste your time fighting for revenge or justice and don't isolate and cut yourself off. Your energy is much better spent on healing and connecting where you have love. cultivate three things above all others. kind heart quiet heart sincere heart
