  1. meditation on the wuji center

Haven't heard of that one... but it's intriguing. I spent a half hour or so searching, but didn't find anything like what you're describing. If you come across it again, please share it here.
  2. What exactly is the mind and where is it located ?

the laws of man are ego=centric... they are broken every moment of every day, and you may or may not ever be caught and if caught, you may or may not be punished... but just try telling a hurricane or a tornado that killing people is illegal.
  3. How do we know what's yin and what's yang . Really.

Well, if we were talking about a real coin and if we were to look at it closely, it would have many more sides than six, it would have mountains, valleys and myriad edges and faces that could be then used to prove how it does not fit my example. (interestingly, the fact that this very allusion to a change in perspective about said coin altering the experience reinforces the intention of my post) But in following the spirit of my example, if not the letter... using an abstract idea of a coin that is being shared as a metaphor in order to convey a rather simple concept regarding the topic in layman's terms, two seemingly opposing aspects of one unified 'thing'... I'm betting that you got the meaning and are having a bit of fun... It's always a gamble though, trying to gauge the intent of words written without knowing someone well and without body language and tone of voice to lend context. You've taken a seemingly intentional tone of condescension toward several people here, in a rather surprising number of your posts, given that you have so few, who were merely sharing what are simply different views about a deep, abstract concept. So I'm not sure how to take you yet. Many confrontations begin not with the words spoken, but by the intention and the manner in which the words are spoken... I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt though, until I'm certain, so I'll stick with, you seem to be having a bit of fun. I hope so, I like fun. I also love, well intentioned, honest, open discussion about deep topics. Indeed it's one of the great loves of my life.
  4. For married and cohabiting Bums - on sharing chores

In my experience, who does what depends largely on who's inclined and who's able. Some are able but not inclined to some tasks, others inclined but not very capable. My wife and I both have careers and a child and so are also quite busy, so we tend to disperse the chores into who does what most efficiently so the shit gets done and we can settle in to dancing, enjoying life and sneak-attack-ninja-tickling our son when he least expects it... As to your implication that because you're a man, you are more versatile? I couldn't agree less based on my direct experience in life. In our life, my wife and I have naturally found our niches of who does what most effectively, but since there's always love and mutual respect... asking for help is never shunned, nor refused. Life is a process, not an absolute. Discovery, Awe and Exploration are encouraged, so around here, nothing is written in stone, so to speak.
  5. How do we know what's yin and what's yang . Really.

Really well said mate! Harmonizing my mind to the unified nature of what appears to be opposing conditions has alleviated some of the stickiest aspects of life that brought me so much suffering for so long... reconciling the opposites, is a cure for many sources of dis-ease. In my experience, yang and yin are not separate 'things' that oppose one another. They are not things at all... they are a natural, dynamic expression of varying degrees of extremity of the conditions flowing from wuji. Again, as I experience it, yangyin or yinyang is a unified dynamic process that may often appear to have two opposing entities... yet is one unified process that possesses varying degrees of extremity in its expression. Nothing is hot or cold except in relativity to something else. And these states are never static... every 'thing' is in constant flux. An example I like is Tidal Flow of the oceans and waterways. Constant fluctuations in conditions of yangyin, but yang cannot exist without yin... there can be no waves that have only crests. The coin has two sides, but it is one coin. yinyang is a unified dynamic process that only appears to be two dueling separate conditions from certain perspectives.
  6. Nasreddin and The Wise Men

    *deep bow* thanks!
  7. What exactly is the mind and where is it located ?

I hope so! Conversations are pretty boring when everyone agrees all the time.
  8. What exactly is the mind and where is it located ?

http://www.ctvnews.ca/health/health-headlines/woman-born-without-a-cerebellum-baffles-doctors-1.2003732 This is pretty remarkable. A Chinese woman, discovers in her mid twenties that she has no cerebellum. This reinforces my experience that while the brain can affect the mind, it does not generate it.
  9. some negative cult traits

Nice distinction. Thanks mate... I'm not taking any of this personally, other than than in the manner of enjoying the conversation quite a bit.
  10. Discussing Tao with the "science"-minded

Alan Watts approaches addresses this so succinctly for me...
  11. what is reality and what is illusion ?

Brian... *deep bow* thanks mate... what a whopper of a post for me! specifically: time varying, charge disbursements... wow inductance... double wow I've experienced sensations and awareness relating to these concepts when playing Qi Gong in groups of people or with trees versus my solitary cultivation. Now my left brain can play with it too... pure awesome
  12. What qigong dance music are you listening to?

I've also looped this one, for somewhere near twenty years now and proceeded to just lose myself in it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeAfo6YYqjc
  13. What qigong dance music are you listening to?

Wow... Kira! I knew from the moment I saw Kira that I was going to marry her...
  14. some negative cult traits

Aye, language variation isn't at all the same thing as directed, intentional hijacking of an existing language and set of cultural norms for the purpose of influencing other people's sense of reality in order to elicit control or power. It does though, for me, lead to the interesting observation that language variations really add to the propagation of and the tendency to prop up, tribal conflict and lack of comprehension that is such a part of divisive us vs them thinking... which is the goal of cults. Question that pops up for me again now, when does it stop being a cult and start being culture? edit to add: When does it go from condemnation to acceptance? Is it a certain level of popularity? That's fascinating to me. As for the breathing concept, I can see where it's a trigger for folks, but there's nothing personal in it, nor any value judgement in it, regarding what you or anyone else posted. I'm just openly sharing a concept that I'm resonating with and sitting with of late. Don't take my concept personally, it's not in any way intended as a valuation or devaluation judgement of what you or anyone else has posted. I indeed care about a myriad of things and spend a fair amount of time each day, consciously cultivating very particular breaths. Nonetheless... there's nothing I have to do, not eat, sleep, drink, breath, not even think... it's not required. But the option sure is nice.
  15. some negative cult traits

Sort of points out that each individual language exists as a form of cult speak. No one but your tribe understands you...

  17. Hot Tea

This was fun... a fully functional teapot made of chocolate. I about spit my tea out when I heard they spent six weeks preparing... that's dedication.
  18. What qigong dance music are you listening to?

    Thanks mate! Love that thread.
  19. What qigong dance music are you listening to?

I love playing wuji to music! This is one I am recently putting on loop and then just letting it all flow... As for not being able to find the thread titled "what are you listening to?"... the search function on this site appears to be completely broken. I was going to share a link to a teapot made out of chocolate today on the Hot Tea thread, but when searching the site... apparently the word tea has never been used here... pfft technology is funny.
  20. some negative cult traits

Oh no doubt it sounds strange to many... but nonetheless, there is no need for it... perhaps a deeply conditioned desire, but not need.
  21. some negative cult traits

if it matters to you then it matters. no doubt there. for me, one doesn't need to do anything, including breathe. anyone who says differently, seems to me is selling something... or lying which is just as good as telling the truth... eventually. or perhaps... they're just mired in the relativity of perception which is a chain of dogmatic slavery na? beliefs, indeed any idea/ideal/concept held to be true... what is it? lie, truth, teach soon, never learn... learn what? teach who? cult of self, cult of belief whatever I believe, is my master good stuff... thanks for posting this.
  22. some negative cult traits

Interesting stuff.... in the end though, as I experience it... truth or untruth? for me truly it matters not both serve the truth for the truth is the truth and untruth serves truth in showing what truth is not
  23. Drugs and Alcohol

Very well said! Intensity of dynamic intention, awareness and interplay with flow intensity, resonance and dynamic polarity all in constant flux... but which ones are me and which ones are not me. who am i? I've never heard of that study but I can readily accept someone taking large doses of LSD and being unaffected as from my own experience, lower frequency vibrations may still flow all around and through the system, but a system of high frequency or intensity, would render such things almost imperceptible, unless perhaps, sought out or, 'allowed' to take affect. Again, though, I find it hard to imagine anything which is outside of me. Where I am, I don't perceive there to be anything external to 'me' there is what is, nothing is separate, everything is a constant dynamic flow... I think this is also why I don't experience the sense of a longer time being superior to a short time. There is now. *deep bow* really awesome response, it's triggered such awareness of some very subtle energies.. much much love... this conversation has me high lol I'm going to go channel this awesome energy now This place and these amazing conversations continues to be one of my favorite drugs so grateful for TTB and all of you.
  24. Drugs and Alcohol

or sex, or food, or air, or water, or coffee... what is the nature of what we call 'a drug'? is a much more productive and interesting question, to me.
  25. Dalai Lama says no need for successor

he's alluded to it before, but this is big... *very deep bow of respect* wow... seriously... wow.
