NYC and Jersey drivers were on the whole, admirably aware in my experience of seven years in and around the city. Most of it on my bicycle. Probably out of necessity they're more aware due to the massive numbers of vehicles and small area of operation. Minnesota and California are pretty much tied for the worst I've experienced. Between a lack of patience and just pure 'not giving a shit' moves that put everyone around them in danger, they stand out to me. Saw a guy on my way to work Friday, weave back and forth, making eight lane changes within a quarter mile, cutting off three cars and a tractor-trailer, to get two and a half car lengths ahead of where he'd been behind me when he decided he'd had enough. I used to ride a Suzuki Intruder 1400. It was my sole mode of transportation for the first four years I moved to Cali in 2000. Sold it when the phone craze took over and haven't replaced it. Too many close calls... with folks on their phones.

dmattwads has been contributing here for like a decade. He's got a long established practice. Besides, are there now 'prerequisites' to opening a conversation about high level manifestations? Perhaps leave the conversation to those who are interested in contributing sincerely, if it bothers you song.

Biggest money grab by the 1% in history... and globally. And almost no one batted an eye at it. And even if they did (or like me spiraled into disbelief and deep depression) what could be done about it? Everyone was under stay at home orders for Covid. Small businesses and the remnants of the Middle Class are left to atrophy while the major corps receive grants and guaranteed loans... to purchase up all the newly available corpses of the small business community. We'll likely never recover. Hello Bladerunner.

Pandemic Panic - Transcending the Fear

Since Sept. 8, we've had four people test positive for covid on our crew. Three folks hired to start on Construction showed positive in the pre-work test and thus never entered the facility. One person in Production became exposed over a weekend event with family and within minutes of the test result everyone in contact with that person and department, had left the facility and were paid for two weeks of quarantine time while awaiting their all clear. We've been operating in several zones since early October to avoid incidental contact between various departments. One person quarantined as well after a friend he'd hung out with over the weekend called and told him they'd tested positive. He went home immediately after that phone call and quarantined for two weeks as well, then returned last week, all clear.- 317 replies

Kindred Spirit... we park several blocks away and walk around and through the park to enter our market, avoiding the main street and parking lot entirely. I swear folk's IQ and patience all but evaporate in parking lots here in SoCal. Some obsessive rush that overrides logic for the duration of the drug-like pursuit of 'scoring the perfect spot'. We have a grass fed bison stand that we will be trying out for the first time this holiday season.

Yea, I'm sure you're right and it's much longer than 30 years. Part of that entire industrialization/acclimation process. *spit* I know the longest of all the lines at our Farmer's Market is for those eggs. It stretches past the neighboring six or seven stalls sometimes. It was the line that first caused me to check them out. Whenever I see Americans willingly wait in a line patiently... I get intrigued.
-
By the gods... The health saga of eggs is downright comical. Seems to oscillate every few months for the last 30 years... badgoodbadgoodbadgood. I stopped paying attention long ago. Get my eggs from a reliable source. They are local uncaged and the yolks are a deep amber orange, not yellow/green. I generally eat 2 or 3 every day and often ask my wife while I'm cracking them... "So are eggs good again? or bad again? I forget." my answer is. *they're amazing!

Pandemic Panic - Transcending the Fear
silent thunder replied to Michael Sternbach's topic in General Discussion
It's good to not fear it. Most will recover if infected. That's not really the point though is it? Being afraid or not? I got it. Never knew it, until we tested our son after he had symptoms for several weeks. I choose to alter my behavior now to help protect others. I do it out of love for my fellow humans and to support the system from being overwhelmed. I don't need protecting. Many don't. That's not the point. I was infected from my Son who contracted it at school, it was traced to likely being infected two days before they closed. Way back in the Spring. We passed it to my wife, who had a severe reaction. When it was looking dire, she opted not to go to the hospital, as at that time, they were isolating folks completely and allowing no contact. They also seemed to be flailing about in their treatments and were relentlessly pushing respirators. She recovered on her own at home as well. We used bone broth, vitamin D and touch/qi therapy on her and she slowly recovered. Most will survive it, when they get it. That's not the point to me. Its lethality to millions of my fellow humans is the point. I'll be fine, even if re-exposed. My system is thriving on excellent food, daily blasts of Qi flowing unimpeded through my system and a life that is saturated in people whom I admire, who love me deeply... a thriving career that challenges my body and mind. This is no reason to treat it like it's a common cold or regular flu and act the tough guy and pretend no actions are useful in helping our neighbors, friends and family. Our downstairs neighbor Kathy had been fighting a plethora of deeply debilitating health effects for all the years we've known her. I wore my mask and kept my distance from her and her family for her good. Knowing I can carry it without knowing I'm infected... Her husband had to work, or face being evicted and losing their home. She got sick again and this time, couldn't recovere. They turned off life support two weeks ago Monday. They brought her remains home just a few days ago. Fear isn't the point. Love is. Love.- 317 replies

Pandemic Panic - Transcending the Fear

Masks are such an easy way to protect others. I have no patience for the bitching and whining. Grow up. Wear a mask. Stop being wilfully ignorant, or incorrigibly thick. Much of the time it fades from awareness. You'll get used to it, or not. Grow up. At work, I wear a mask from the time I leave my vehicle, until lunch, 6 1/2 hours later. I eat my lunch, outside, on my own, well away from others, then put my mask back on when I'm done eating. I wear it in the bathroom. I forget I have it on much of the time. I take it off when I get in my vehicle at the end of the day, 11 hours later. Some nights I notice that I'm still wearing it half way home, then remove it. I have three masks with me at all times and swap between them when I'm working strenuously if they get soggy. When shopping and running errands on weekends or evenings, I wear a mask from the time I leave my vehicle until I re-enter it when done. If it ever slips, exposing my nose, I notice this instantly and re-fit it. All you Chin Diaper Fucks and 'Look! My Nose Is Poking Out' Fuckers can go pound sand.- 317 replies

Money has no intrinsic value. Money equals options in society. In nature, it's useless, other than as the paper or metal coins it is. Can't eat or drink money, can't live in money. But in society... it's the option to move within society in myriad ways. Have a shit roommate? Have a savings account and a job? You have the option to move. Car took a shit? Have a job? You have the option to repair/replace your car, buy a bike, rent an uber... Money is the idea of value in modern society. It equals options of motion and acquisition in society. In the desert, in the deep forest? it's paper and metal.

For solid foundational Qi Gong info... I highly recommend the work of Dr Yang Jwing-Ming. In particular for beginners, The Root of Chinese Qi Gong. I still, years into my practice, revisit it. A modern classic in my experience. -

For me it's not limited to sex that can get me hung up mentally... it can be any aspect of life. Sometimes, often even I'd say, it's my hesitation and mental obsessing regarding a subject that is a greater disturber of my essence, than the effect of the thing I'm obsessing about... Lately, after years of effort and straining, I'm more in line with cultivating quiet and a softness of being. This then nurtures a place of being able to 'hear' the natural pulls responding within awareness' field, which is in direct intermingling with the world about me. Spherical Listening. Whole Being Listening... and an acceptance and allowing of space and being for what is naturally arising and falling away is my praxis. Awareness of process and then allowance. Some aspects are meant to be carried, others left by the path. Listening with calm centered awareness has been so beneficial to being able to distinguish what to hold and what/when to release. Release is perhaps my most valued tool in praxis of late. But as in life, All is part of the process. Two monks were walking along a river, looking for a place to cross. They had both taken the vows of chastity, celibacy, not touching women at all. When they found a suitable place to cross a young woman was standing on the side, looking across and doing that jitter step of hesitation. The water was shallow here, but still moving so swiftly, she was clearly in distress about crossing. One of the monks offered to carry her across. She readily accepted with much appreciation and then the monk picked her up and carried her across the river. As the monks continued their walking, some time later the other brother, a bit agitated, could hold his tongue no longer and asked, astoundedly and somewhat admonishingly " Brother! I'm confused and upset!" "By what?" "By how you could break your vows so easily and not only talk to, but touch and then even carry that woman in your arms!" Laughing, the Brother reached out and put a hand reassuringly on his Brother's shoulder. "My Brother, it is you, you should be worried about!" "Me? Why?" "I set that woman down two hours ago. But you're still carrying her!" when in doubt, follow nature, nature follows dao.
