I lightly ice my coffee as well, just to take the edge off. Enjoying some as I type this... Always recall my Dad moving ice chips from his water glass to his coffee with his spoon on our Saturday Morning Breakfasts together.

Inch worm...

One egg hatched this morning. She's about 3/4" long and may have the entire plant to herself as I don't see any others, but I'm not looking over much, or too carefully.

I abhore violence... Yet I've spent thousands of hours honing the ability to effectively harm people through martial practices... I abhore violence, yet I have an extensive armory collection of melee weapons and modern firearms... I tell myself that the reason I learned to fight effectively was to possess the knowledge, skill and ability to inflict the minimum amount of harm to stem a violent situation; or, if need be, be able to end things quickly to protect what is precious. I guess when push comes to shove, I should admit I'd rather be a warrior in a garden, than a gardener in a war.

Fixing society... Leading people... Those most suited to the job, in my experience, are too wise to accept the position. Sages understand the inherent limitations that prevent one in the job from doing the job as it would need to be done to bring about benefit. Or they realize that they, being one person... do not have the capacity to know what is best for everyone... or even if they did, the job does not confer ability to create those conditions. Or that no set of conditions, no matter how carefully manipulated by one man, or one administration are going to benefit everyone at all times. Assuming one knows how to 'manipulate nature' so that benefit arises for all involved is a trait of those living in fundamentalist certainties. It is the realm of dictators and despots, not sages... therefore... i'll keep my tail in the mud is the wisdom of wei wu wei arising and forstalling the interference in the first place... i.e. I'll keep fishing thanks.

Reminds me of a saying I heard only relatively recently... A Master is one who has failed more times than the Student has attempted.
