  1. What is Taoism

Dao is not a word, or a thing. Daoism is a word, associated with mental imagery and as such dependent on the individual and cultural connotations of such. To me, the definition of Daoism is akin to the Druidic definition of man. A man is three things simultaneously. He is who he thinks he is. He is who others think he is. He is who he actually is. Daoism is a word, a mental notion, concept. Internally generated and culturally influenced. Daoism is what you think it is. What others think it is. what it really is (all and beyond and none of the prior two) in my experience, not selling this as 'the' truth, only sharing my experience.
  2. stuff to do to feel qi better ?

I'm with you. Walking has become pivotal to my overall process. My daily walks through our neighborhood in the hour before Dawn are blissful, energizing, healing and stabilizing. Particularly when conditions permit barefootedness. Bare feet touching earth is bliss beyond description these last years.
  3. What made YOU laugh today/tonight ?

Well said. Honestly, it seems to me a natural venting of the fear, this extreme of reactions. The more it's vented here, hopefully the less is available for anyone stuck in the house with them. There was a permeative shift from 4-7 am this morning, resulting in deep bliss and resonant gratitude where the fear was festering.

“If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien “War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Two Towers “You can only come to the morning through the shadows.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien “In sorrow we must go, but not in despair. Behold! we are not bound for ever to the circles of the world, and beyond them is more than memory.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien
  5. Microwave bad effect on food qi ?

Neither my wife nor I have ever gone in for microwaving anything. I don't know particulars of what microwaving does or does not do to foods; but I know how I react when I eat food cooked or reheated in it. Her parents tried to buy us one, (for themselves) as when they came to visit, for weeks (or sometimes months) each year and wanted to easily reheat their coffee... ffs. That didn't fly lol.

  9. Everyone post some favorite quotes!

Gildor was silent for a moment. “I do not like this news.” he said at last. “That Gandalf should be late, does not bode well. But it is said: Do not meddle in the affairs of Wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger. The choice is yours: to go or wait.” “And it is also said,” answered Frodo: “Go not to the Elves for counsel, for they will say both no and yes.” “Is it indeed?” laughed Gildor. “Elves seldom give unguarded advice, for advice is a dangerous gift, even from the wise to the wise, and all courses may run ill. But what would you?” JRR Tolkien Fellowship of the Ring

  17. What are you listening to?

Discovered this album by Ackerman in 1989. Sophomore at University. Recently wed to the gal living off campus. My gal who sits next to me now, grinning as she instantly is transported by this song back to recall us dancing through our empty apartment in unadulterated joy. We ate our meals on the floor. No tv, (didn't bother with one til we graduated a few years later). We had my cd player (also on the floor) and a bed, (the frame of which we soon broke, so the mattress also moved to the floor). Don't need much. Just the essentials. Will is still touring. Ran into a friend of his in the lobby of a hotel we were staying at for our son's 11th birthday. Thanks for the soundtrack to one of the greatest windows of my life Will.

  22. What are you listening to?

They just ooze 70's Thai Funk, which is Mark Speer's (guitar) obsession. Their name is the Thai word for airplane. I'm a wee bit smitten with them, they've been my flavor of the month since September lolz. Ms Lee (bass) only picked the instrument up a year or so before going on tour with Mark and another band. Something of a prodigy she is. The more I listen to them, the more I'm amazed by all three. That drummer is never out of the pocket. He's a freakin metronome. He and Mark met in the gospel scene in Houston. As for Mark. The longer I listen the more he shines in a way few guitarists do... and it's his backup instrument. Same with Drummer... it's his secondary.
