Have you guys ever felt alive? I remember working for this stressful office job, and once the day was done and step out of the door, I felt so much more alive and aware, I felt like I was myself again. It's an amazing feeling of contrast. In the stressful job I had where I was miserable, I felt like a slave, like that was my reality but once I stepped out of the door, it was all just an illusion to me.

Yes, thanks, thats a good word. I do have plan B and C, I just don't want to share it with anyone haha. People who do earn more than 80k per year, they have a target on their back because many people are looking to take his/ her position and the company is looking to downsize or cut back, they always start at the top. Having a "Low income" job has more job stability, not saying it's for certain, but it's more stable than high paying jobs. Unless you are working for a retail chain like mcdonalds or target, then your job is not stable. For high paying jobs, you are constantly being tested and tested every day, everyday you have to live up to high expectations or else you will be jobless.

Yes, as long as there is food on the table and clothes on our back.

Most Americans spend most of their time living up to the expectations of other people, parents, friends, teachers, relatives. This leads to suffering. Life is about risk, sacrifice, a gamble and having the courage to face your fears. I'm taking the risk for a low income job in return for greater happiness and joy in my life. Sounds ironic right? How a lot of Millionaires say sacrifice, giving it your all to be successful and wealthy. Work your ass off to get promoted. Work overtime. Don't sleep if you want to be successful. The wisdom and awareness I gain is my wealth, the happiness and true friends I gain is my success. Even if I live in a shack, as long as I'm happy and compassionate towards people and life, that's all that matters. Expectations are like chains. They tie you down and they will never let you know what it is like to be free. Once I realized it's all just an illusion, the chains disappear. A sense of freedom that everyone yearns for.

Gambling? Winning money from other players?

so if the drug dealer is compassionate in dealing drugs, not trying to make money but to make people happy, will the drug dealer go to heaven then? -
Gambling? Winning money from other players?

I don't understand. Basically, if I'm part of the equation that caused a person to suffer, like winning their money (they'll be angry at me), or serving a patron alcohol (continue to aid their suffering), then i will receive bad karma because of that, right? -

Being a pt Bartendar - Okay Livelihood?

well lets say i'm compassionate and positive to the patrons, let's say the patron leaves the bar and gets into a car accident or throws up on the side walk, will the bad karma be on my hands since i'm the one that served him alcohol? Let's say he gets a dui and now his life is ruined? And isn't one of the buddhist percepts "cannot sell intoxicants or alcohol" though? Selling alcohol is a major breach of a percept according to a google search. -

Professional Poker Player - Is it bad karma?
becomethepath replied to becomethepath's topic in General Discussion
Well whenever I do have money, I always donate to homeless people even before playing "poker". Not out of fear, but because of compassion I have for them. I'm just trying to find a way to earn a living by doing something I actually don't mind doing. I feel miserable in the job I currently have. -
Yup, I feel like people are so focused on making money and securing their retirement, they work their whole lives trying to save up for retirement and next thing you know they're old and filled with regrets of wishing they didn't work so hard and spend so much of their time working. They let their career define them.

you could be good looking but not genuine/ good/ honest when you go into solitude, you find your true self, the genuine self, nature self comes out, and when you go out into society, people can sense it, they can sense that you're a good person and real and that itself is attractive being good looking may play a small part but your aura and demeanor/ energy is the most important. -
you have to be careful astral projecting, you are open up to negative entities when you do, i've actually "astral projected" before, to the hungry ghost world, when i didn't want to be in that world anymore, i said a mantra, i saw my whole body go back into my body

anyhting tha tlooks dark, black or ominous is bad. If it's golden, it should be positive and good. I remember bodhistavva earth treasure came and saved me in my nightmare. He came out of this golden portal and he had a golden aura around him.
