  1. How do you heal a broken spirit?

Spend time in the sunlight, particularly at noontime with skin exposed. Take long walks. Eat meat, heavy starchy foods, and go heavy on the salt. Get massages. Don't be afraid of good fats. Take fish oil. Watch funny movies. Listen to the blues.
  2. something's up?

keeping myself honest here. Halfway through the month and nothing has happened.
  3. Cure for masturbation addiction

well, soymilk is very effective for decreasing testosterone, but really your body does need nutrients. Don't do that for too long. You may want to consider adding a green powder drink of some kind to your fast.
  4. That's because, if you look at the top of the page, this is a taoist forum, not a buddhist forum. Not surprising, really.
  5. The Path of the Confused

I'd say I'm a taoist witch, but that's a very specific thing. The two things are in conflict, in some ways. I've had to give up a lot of my spellwork. Witches cast spells to get specific results. They always work with nature, but I believe use more hard control when it comes to magic than taoists do, generally speaking. The unifying concept in both is the idea of balance. Also, with being a witch, a lot of it has to do with whether you were born a witch. And a lot more of it has to do with things you actually do, rather than your belief system. Witches tend to be pretty sketchy and fluid when it comes to religious beliefs, outside of actual wiccans who are rather protective of the title (there's a lineage from the UK and initiation, etc., kind of a silly with a tradition that's only sixty years old). Although being a witch is probably the most fluid religion there is, some general guidelines are: do you celebrate the phases of the moon with ritual and do you cast spells to work magic? Of course coming at it from the other side I know there are witches within the taoist tradition, but I am not knowledgeable enough to comment on those.
  6. Cure for masturbation addiction

at least until your third eye is opened
  7. For Taomeow

Sounds like she's not around anymore, but in case she is, I thought of her when I saw this: http://www.treehugger.com/files/2011/08/worlds-oldest-person-found-thriving-in-the-amazon.php
  8. The 'tokens' I have returned with

so what sorts of truth and love did you find in this year?
  9. Rise of The Planet of Sex

American society, at least, was a lot more sexual when I was a girl. I was born in 1966, and the long tail of the Summer of Love colored my childhood. Of course it is easy to get rid of sexual desire by blocking testosterone by pharmaceutical means or through surgery. Likewise, going on most antidepressants will alter neurotransmitter levels enough that sexual desire will decrease. There are more natural ways to decrease sexual desire. A healthy way is to eat a low-fat vegan diet with lots of green tea. But all that is silly--sexual desire is a gift from the gods to both give fuel to the kundalini fire and allow the energy to rise up, and also to strengthen the bonds between a man and a woman to make for a stronger family. Just like anything, it can cause problems if out of balance, but so can something as harmless as drinking water.
  10. Taoist Relationships

Raising children takes a tremendous amount of energy. It's not something a 62-year-old should undertake unless he can afford a full-time nanny to help his wife. Although maybe he can.
  11. Taoist Relationships

No, I'd look for someone who wasn't so damn mingy. I'm interested in someone who is both willing to give energy and able to receive it back. GoldenFlower, I'm being harsh with Starjumper because he hit on me a while back. Although I certainly am judgmental in general.
  12. My left hand path (for -K-)

I was humoring him. I agree that I have benefited from it, but I think that women are wired differently and that it is more natural for a woman to focus on the fourth chakra.
  13. Taoist Relationships

Man, did I dodge a bullet! Thank goodness I'm fat. And with that ad, all he's going to get is this:
  14. Taoist Relationships

Oh come on guys, lay off. What an idiot, at 62 wanting to start a family! He really must think he is immortal.
  15. I think one of the answers to why there aren't more ladies on the forum can be found here: http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?/topic/20466-philosophers-stone-claimed-to-be-recently-found/
  16. My left hand path (for -K-)

I no longer am troubled by entities. Yes, the left-hand path is the anti-enlightenment path, but I do not agree that it is unnatural. My path is in harmony with the natural, material world. The creator created both the light and the darkness where light resides. Again, I like being a mammal, I have no interest in becoming immortal or going to a sort of heaven. I like the natural world and only hope to help with political, economic and environmental balance. I have had a crown chakra outpouring and I'm glad I experienced it, for the feeling, but it is not something I aspire to on an ongoing basis. And although I enjoy sixth chakra stimulation, even there it is not something I work towards. I think the path of a woman is simply to get the energy up to the fourth chakra and release it. I don't want to walk on a male path; I want to stay on my female path that is centered on the fourth chakra.
  17. That would be pretty funny. I also get the feeling, of course I could be wrong about this, that tulku is young enough to be my son. I no longer have an entity problem. It was fun while it lasted, but the entity is gone now. Perhaps because I am stronger? I'm not sure why.
  18. My left hand path (for -K-)

You can gush over me anytime, anamatva. -K-, that Beavis and Butthead clip is a hoot!
  19. Taoist Relationships

The Internet is a very unnatural way to connect for a relationship. I can learn more about someone in five minutes in a room than spending five months corresponding with them online. I know it is inappropriate for me to give advice here, as I am interested in different things than you are and I'm very low plane, but I do think both things I have said here apply: Meet high-level cultivators in person, maybe in a class or a conference Focus on what you want, not what they want. Being forty brings discernment that a younger woman does not have. Just focusing on your own spiritual development is great for spiritual development, but not so great for meeting new people. It's very unlikely you will meet a nice high-level cultivator shopping for groceries.
  20. I have ordered the beginner DVD from TaoMeow's sifu, and after doing a little investigating, I heard that a famous sifu here in Boston was a fellow student of his old master. I am going to see if her school will accept me; it is in Chinatown in downtown Boston. http://www.taichi-arts.com/
  21. I don't want to be immortal! Is that such a hard concept to grasp?
  22. Do I smell a third world war?

tell me more about your mountainous sword...
  23. Please don't take it personally. I have been here for years, I am friendly, people know I'm cuckoo and not exactly your standard taoist, so I have earned some leniency from past behavior.
