  1. True enlightenment cannot be achieved until the body dies. One's experience is limited by having a body. All beings can only be appointed a Buddha or Immortal Etc. by the Jade Emperor, who will measure the life's work and experience and give everlasting life (in spirit form) or not.

    how do they get appointed?

  2. In order to really work with chi and make progress you have to be completely focussed. You can't meditate and cultivate chi while doing other activities. It's like saying that you can practice kung fu forms while playing soccer. Focus on soccer when it's time to play soccer and focus on kung fu when it's time to practice kung fu. If you try doing both at the same time you're just going to waste your time.

    i beg your pardon :P

  3. I think this AT LEAST applies to those who are cultivating the buddhadharma

"For an illiterate, the Master was quite intelligent. He answered, “You awaken to the Way from within your mind. You can’t just sit there. You have to understand the principles of the Buddhadharma and be enlightened to them. The enlightenment is ‘understanding’ and the sitting is ‘practice.’ Practicing without understanding is stupid; understanding without practice is nothing but intellectual zen.”

  4. Which part of China are you in? I had a similar negative experience in China that took some time to get over, so I know what you're talking about :D

  5. If you become immortal, you can probably choose to be reborn if you want to. Bodhisattvas plant causes for themselves to be reborn to return to the world to teach. So the process could be similar? But either way, immortals don't live forever, just a really really long life span, because they are still subject to karma, however little there is left. If you wanted to cross over with a SO, you can, but more likely than not I don't see a reason why you would do it unless it was a wholesome decision. If they die, they die, and you'd accept it.
