The Skeptical "Buddhist"...Critical thinking & Buddhism..
narveen replied to stefos's topic in Buddhist Discussion
my worldview is that i am this stream of consciousness - our actual existence - which includes anything and everything in reality. if it is perceiveable, then it is part of the stream. yes, it includes your ghost also. why do you disagree? perception is key but what we perceive must be subject to critical verification. perceptions that cannot fit with reason must be rejected. is this not what the buddha taught? this teaching is reasonable to me and that is why i accept it. why do you accept the ghost you perceived? how would you authenticate it as a reasonable part of reality? all forms of buddhism are an endless cycle of births and deaths. buddhists are weirdos with stupid beliefs. didn't you say so yourself? -
ripped tonedness is good. i must ramp up on my workouts. i wish i am six two but i am only five eight. you can't have four bodies but you can have four personalities. come on like a movie star and dress the part of a girly guy, a badass man, a female ninja (get ripped) and a courtesan (you will look great with makeup and high heels). what about money? i am also jobless. it costs 200 bucks for a barbed-wire armband on one arm only.

what are the miserable assholes around you working on?

opinions are all that apes have on this shore; understandings are what dao masters have on the other shore. opinions can change, understandings are cast in stone. so, let's discuss your opinions. ok you are positing evolution as a truth but it is actually a theory. if you believe in God, then you are his creation. If you believe Darwin, then you are an ape. you are comparing ape-man and say ape-chimpanzee, and each has a different brain that creates human consciousness and chimp consciousness respectively? what differences? speaking English instead of grunting? moving on two legs instead of four? are these differences in intellectual capacity and behavior pattern sufficient to establish class division? i think the disparity in intelligence between the smartest people on the planet and the folks who cut our lawns could be far greater than that between dumb people and chimps; yet, we are all equal. why marginalize the chimps? could the real excuse for division between us and other apes is because they don’t look like us? if you could put aside your belief in Darwin for a moment and not be an ape, i would like to offer my theory for your consideration. how about it? folks would think you crazy if you were to discuss the dao with a monkey. but i am optimistic because i see no divide. -

do you have the youtube link or is it a dvd? what is the name of this film? it's still a struggle for us monkeys - even in america. you don't consider it cannibalism only because the goat is not your brother, the cow is not your father, and sheep with four legs are not people. they are farmed and slaughtered by the tens of millions every single day sight unseen. docummentaries on war, poverty, disease, political oppression, human trafficking, prostitution, chronicle living conditions a lot worse than that for monkeys in the wild. at least, the real monkeys have an excuse. god didn't give them the ability to think things through in this life and a soul to skip out of the misery into the next. -
songstan thinks like a girl and plays with dragon. so, she can't be more than 25. and she is f*cking with us, like the monkey king having fun with in the jade garden kicking us warriors in the air like straw dogs.. martial art is deception. we must catch the monkey king.

looks like your dragon is fully trained and ready for action?

yes, a plant with mobility and can jump about. seems so. the manifestation is like that of the monkey king of chinese mythology with many forms of himself and not as we are led to believe that each monkey is a separate autonomous unique individual with rights of self-determination. no. no soul. the concept of the soul skew meditative clarity. soul, spirits, ghosts, demons, angels are superstitions - inventions of a troubled mind. the human being like the monkey has no soul. there is only consciousness in action at various levels in every different life forms. ability to act is no qualification of class superiority and innate quality either between one human and another or between one life form and another. -

is it because, unlike a false monkey, it has no soul and therefore incapable of irresolute reflective analysis by presenting pros and cons, this and that, including what ifs? -
yes, it is like building a bridge from Hell. an escape route it breaks my heart to watch this, as i am dying on the cross.

the presumption here is that the animal that is being groped is related to the real world? the first thing related to the real world, when i get up in the morning, is breakfast. and i mean poached egg on rye toast, another buttered slice slathered with honey and a mug of hot great smelling coffee. but that's me. reality is many things to many people. do you presume to share the world of the guy who composed chapter 45?

ok, i found your dragon. most taobums are old and have arthritis. dragon will help them keep up with you talking fast. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSHmPamLGQA&feature=youtube_gdata

consciousness not exclusive to humans? what are we talking about here? anyone who has played with or cuddled up with a dog or cat knows it. any cowboy who has been thrown off a horse knows it. self-consciousness is something else. i have never come across a real monkey looking for the Dao. -
yes, you can have his cat. why did you try to kill yourself?
-
will the afterlife be like this life? if not, what will you be aware of?
-
do you?

good attitude, sloppy. good fortune will follow.

i thought the rule is to stay on topic to discuss the form and structure of the "elephant" and what needs to be said on lessons learned (about the critter) for application to real life must go to other threads.

The Skeptical "Buddhist"...Critical thinking & Buddhism..
narveen replied to stefos's topic in Buddhist Discussion
there is only this stream of consciousness - our actual existence - in which all mankind live. this stream is reality, the world, the entirety of everything the mind (not the personal mind but the human mind) has put together. nothing else exists other than this stream. we are that stream and the stream is us. do you agree? critical thinking is what is lacking in the buddhist, you said. without critical thinking, weird and stupid beliefs have become buddhism, you said. so, anything that cannot be critically verified immediately in an empirical and rational manner must be rejected as not true. do you agree? let's do this step by step, like krishnamurti. get one thing absolutely clear before moving on to another. if we do it right, the first step (of truth) is the last step. if we do it wrong, the first step is the beginning of endless cycles of birth and death in buddhism. -
now that we have groped the elephant from tip of its trunk to tip of its tail and feel good about it, shall we stop and move onto the next animal in the herd of 81?
