Thanks RV. That's a kind suggestion. Personally I'm disgusted by it. I don't know about 'natural' in this respect. Energetically? I'd call it more 'socially conditioned'. So 'normal' perhaps? But 'natural'? Hum

I'm quite offended at the idea that an older man would value me for some kind of 'blank slate' quality upon which his ideas of spirituality (or anything else for that matter) could be impressed. Before anyone says 'you're too old' or something like 'don't flatter yourself', no need, I've got those and those of that ilk covered:-) More seriously, and offence aside, there's something 'un-Taoish' about it. I figured the energetic thing was more plausible. Older men in that sense to me are energy sumps.

It might be that the solution doesn't fit with what they think the solution is. Some people are also looking for care and kindness and someone to listen. Do you want me to suggest something to you?

I did this at one point. I made myself a FU - although not a 'proper' one but it was good enough at the time.

Wait, maybe this stuff will enlighten me around why men who are 15 years older than myself are interested in me, while my male peers (my age) are running after women 15 years younger than us both. If it's that thing Zanshin mentioned (the 'hierarchy'), hmm. Not very happy about it. Not much to be done either, apparently.

Middle path. Neither too open, not too closed. I'm afraid I don't have the chops to tweak your system - hell, I've got enough with the one I've got, but I suggest you post in the healing circle and people who can will respond. Hang in there:-)

Great stuff Lin! I will be watching out for your show:-) Maybe you could post links to the series here once they've aired with Time Monk? I'm very interested in 'various living beings'. Since these things are some aways from my personal beliefs. I can't work out if I can't experience them because I don't believe in them. If I don't believe in them because I HAVE experienced them and would rather they'd go away and bug other people;-) Or I'm just pretending I don't believe in them because I haven't the faintest.

Hi T_I! Wow, pricey! No, I paid about 40$ used for it. Geez. But you're right about the top-down approach being advocated, however it depends on a person's nature and tendencies to begin with. The text also mentioned the 'thoughtless' issue leading to the 'dementia' type stuff Manitou was describing. It can get fixed by not doing the blank-mind meditations. DMatt, the 'spacey meditator' thing got a mention in the book too. And now I feel half-assed about suggesting people read stuff from a $500 book. So I'll type the anti-spacey recipe part out later. At the same time, it sounds like you figured this thing out yourself:-)

I agree the world IS out of whack, not least because people (to over-generalize) are out of whack. I'm not surprised that you're depressed, it's a reasonable (IMO) reaction to this discovery. Kundalini is also well-known for taking people to the pits before other things. I'd definitely suggest seeing a healer (what kind is your decision) to help get you out of the depression. I can share some other stuff that I do but since everyone is different YMMV. It's sad to hear about your home. I have no idea how old you are either. Depending on how much you feel you can do about it, it must be very frightening. Sanzon had some good practical ideas. I'd look at those to help you and family. But don't take more of a burden of responsability during this difficult period than necessary or is yours to take. I'm finding the last part hard to explain but I'll just leave it there. Maybe if you shared your metro area (not identifying info) nearby bums could suggest ressources.

Looking for people who channel spirits, ghosts, aliens, angels, kundalini, voices, etc.

"'noncorporeal intelligence'.. is that God?" Not the version of God I was taught, hopefully. You know, beligerent Old-Testament 'father'. I'm with the emptiness people:-) -

Such a great story Songtsan. I read your letter on the El Collie link. Your above post was very interesting. I'm really not sure that Kundalini is a separate intelligence although to my small person it seems that way. -
Er, I just wanted to add that at 18 it wasn't particularly obvious to me what the whole 'woman' thing was either. Of course now I'm much older and still get referred to as a 'girl' for some reason but sometimes get rejected by men my age in favour of much younger women as well as getting hit on by men 15 years older than me, well. None of which I really appreciate. I'm not making any sense of it and I'm not going the 'evolution' route to justify any of it either. I'd tend to agree with Cat as far as my personal preference goes but I really haven't run into that type of person in a while. Perhaps this has to do with the type of person I am and where I might be on the hamster wheel (er, 'hero's journey') since I'm thinking that it applies to men and women both. ---2 cts---

So here's what the book says: "The colors red and orange should not be used on any chakra in the head or on the heart and spleen chakras. Green and violet colors are safe, but light hues only." "If you practice martial arts or a yogic breathing and exercise method that awakens the lower chakras, plus the upper centres are not as active and developed as the lower chakras, there is a danger of lopsided development of the lower nature or attitudes. Red energy is 'grosser'. "Tends to block the meridians and exacerbate these over-heating conditions". "Feeling of Exhaustion and Weakening of the Body One of the reasons for these symptoms in meditators and yogis is congestion or excess energy that overwhelms the body. After long hours of meditation in a yogic posture, there's a tremendous increase of energy in the different auras. If this excess energy turns into congestion in the whole body for a long time like a day, the practitioner will feel tired or fatigued. Then because of this symptom, s/he will meditate more thinking it will improve the condition. What usually happens is that the more s/he meditates, the worse it gets. Why? Because there's more congestion, especially if a person is eating meat and meditating heavily. S/ he will become even more congested" I'm hoping some more advanced folks will weigh in because the above seems like it could be right...

That's my understanding of 'astrology' too. It's just another helpful thing for 'knowing thyself':-) Not the newspaper versions however.

Yes, I will do that tomorrow (probably) since the book is out of arm's length at the moment.

logical analysis & synthesis of immortality & its methods
Birch replied to Wells's topic in General Discussion
Drew, that sounded great and I understood roughly not very much of it but some it, especially the interpretation of psychic stuff stuff - which became obvious to me at some point in practice did make sense. Which is a hugely dangerous way for me to go about understanding things that are described in the way you wrote above. However, I will make an effort to get these ideas. Thanks for taking the time to explain.- 163 replies

I'm not sure if this is helpful but it is timely since I picked up a book about the 'Hidden Dangers of Meditation' (bit of an alarmist title) other day and have been reading with interest. Anyway, to cut to it, raising kundalini with lots of 'red' energy can (according to what I'm reading here) have side effects that aren't great for the practitioner. Same goes for the dark greens (???) In addition, the effects aren't immediate but happen over time. Powering up the k from the lower centres exclusively feeds the upper centres 'dirtier' energy (although I don't understand what that meant) and can also power up both 'positive' and 'negative' chakra traits and effects in similar measure. I DO understand what the last part meant. Hum.
