What happened to Trunk's homepage?? It's gotten all flashy ads that don't seem to have anything to do with AT. Trunk? Surely you'd get more cash if you sold a range of books through an Amazon affiliation service or something? Or maybe not, I have no idea what those people pay to have their big flashing 'play now' buttons on websites. It's a very good site BTW, don't let the excruciating homepage put you off :-)

"Each technique will get people to where it is geared to go. " Excellent! Note that you didn't say where the person ought to go...

Well, what you said sounds about right :-) Except the thing about fur balls. Is that an anti-cat stance ? My opinion is if we listen to and observe other things that can biologically perceive what we can't we might get further with our understanding of the whole. I don't think you can do that in laboratories, nor are we going to be able to do it by berating ourselves once we've begun to figure some of it out. Hopefully we can do it and by that point we won't have killed everything else. But we're not far off.

"make sure you know what you're doing in your heart and make sure you're not just following dogma." This is good GIH.

"(A living thing would be different because of the energy it radiates.)" Well the car takes energy from the living things to get made and pollutes them in the process. So does the 'car' end at the shell body or does it keep on going? Does the 'car' stop at the autoworkers' skills that became useless after the car manufacture got moved? Does the 'car' end at the parking lots and motortowns that separate neighbours and determine who lives on the 'wrong' side of town? I think the places one chooses to separate 'things' into 'things' at are very important. Knowing the correct relationship between things, also very important IMO/IME.

Well you don't have to talk about religion with me Mr MH. You know by now where I stand on many of them :-)

"other animals" I think is the point. What 'other animals' kill each other ("same animal") for survival? In what conditions? Are there conditions in which they don't, or didn't before and now they do? You know that if you want a mean dog, just beat the puppy up.
-
Hehehe. I guess :-) Anyway, the classification of different types of energy is one I stumble over pretty consistently. I'm not saying what I think it is because I'd rather folks with more 'chi-spotting' expertise came up with their answer independent of mine. I'm figuring that if a few unrelated folks come up with something similar then there could be a good chance we're collectively 'onto something'

I'd ask Hundun/Susan/Tao/Santi. You know what I think it was? But then I might be suffering from the 'everything looks like a nail' problem when it comes to that particular thing. Certainly if I consider your reported feeling, it 'feels' electric to me and it's familiar as such. Just to be clear, I'm not feeling 'your' feeling but recalling your description and being reminded of my own.

Well you can give it a name, but IMO it ought to be one that correctly reflects the real and not just what you want to do with it:-) Or what you want someone else to do with it. Otherwise you're messing with its qi (and everyone else's in the process) IMO/IME. I'm not sure I'm being very clear with this but it's another one of 'my' ideas in progress. Naming something separates it from the rest of the processes in which it is embedded. That might not be very harmful at all in some cases, in others, I figure it could be explosive. Especially if the way you name it leads you (or someone else) to do something with it that isn't how it actually works or makes it work counter to anything useful or beneficial. I won't get into lying in this post. How to spot things that have been misnamed? Well they tend to require extra 'help' to maintain their names. May require repetition ad nausea. They will get questioned as soon as anyone notices that there's something 'off' about that 'thing' having that name. Books may be written. People will do their best to correct you if you question it because there's some importance accorded to maintaining the name and it can't be maintained "naturally" so it requires lots of consent. It's sort of a tangent, but I think it's why in some religions, God has no name and mentioning it will get you hung. Sadly, the initial idea was correct but since the act of not naming became its name, well...anyway, you just have to read the emptiness threads to see how weird that can get. I think Taoism got rid of that problem off the top by explaining it was the problem.

I'd go check out a good nutrionist who could help identify causes from that source. Or a TCM, although maybe not acupuncture, but it depends on the cause again. Obviously if stress is a trigger then whatever helps reduce that is going to help too. Sorry not to be of more help (the idea of milk/dairy hit me when I saw your request but I'm not a TCM or a specialist so please take with a barrel of salt:-))

Well of course it's not "there" because it's "here", i.e. whatever's doin the lookin. Can I suggest this "looking for self" thing is the "looking for the stories about yourself" thing? I think before going all the way And jumping all those streams And rivers, one might think "ah, those stories I told myself about myself, which ones were true?"

How do long, slow breaths affect your physical and mental makeup?
Birch replied to tulku's topic in General Discussion
Well, in my case it recast my mental/physical relationship. And how did that change anything? Tough to know what would have been an (not "the") outcome had I not taken that circuit. Although I do feel better than I think I did before but since I didn't measure it... And how would I know?? Maybe this is where the brainwave measurement stuff kicks in? But would that be enough? -
Plasma Dragon Consumes all of the Problems!
Birch replied to Machin Shin's topic in General Discussion
Well, CAN you do nuclear without either blowing yourself or everyone else upz? And let's not forget byproducts. Are you doing if without them or are you "outsourcing" the problem? Where to? Becaz if it's staying on earth, we still have a problem. Did anyone work that out yet? -
I believe I said something along the lines of "it works" if I imagine Jesus as a shamanic Taoist dude:-) So is that disinformation? Maybe just opinion. I'd be happy if folks recognized some stuff as "just opininion" but apparently that's not quite how things seem to work.

Desire IME is a fundamental spiritual and natural driver. I think it can get sidetracked and re-routed when it's supressed. I'm still considering it but I had an idea that desire is evolutionary and revolutionary:-) Desire breathes me into life and not the opposite. In fact IME, if I let it, desire shows me all kinds of ways to go. But I attempt to tame it in myself because it's not very well-regarded where I live. Desire is not a frustrated wanting nor the inability to defer gratification. It's a slow-burning furnace, a hurricane on it's way slowly:-)

Well who would've thunk it? Right there we have a post about Jesus being the way and Taoism a sin. Hahaha. Sin = Maya. If you bother to dig into it metaphorically. And Maya is just your own game. You can wake up any time you choose:-) Still, it annoys me personally. Until I imagine that Jesus was a shamanic Taoist dude. That works:-)

Yes I need to ponder this one too:-) I think that going with the flow is a high practice if the flow itself is in harmony. Harmonizing with something that is out of harmony could often result in something not that great for the individual although in the wider scheme it would be "balanced". Straw dogs and all that.
-
Sure. Doesn't mean you have to go back in though:-) My feeling is if people love you then they'll accept your growth. In some cases it might mean "moving on"..For the oldies, I think most of this stuff is better not being discussed. They probably equate it with something dangerous:-) As for the industrial/social/political motives against spiritual growth and education, yes that's been understood for a long time IMO.

Thank you for the Taoist discussion forum!
Birch replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in Daoist Discussion
Thank you mods! I'm hoping this section will help me in my practice:-) I've been feeling a little too tantric for a while. Be nice to return :-) -
Heh, I figure if there were any agents here they'd end up spooked themselves;-) What I think might happen more is various folks trying to push/sell their own practice system or POV. Then we have the evangelists who have made it their mission to, uh, evangelize. And what I think happens the most is folks with some degree of practice but not enough come in and start telling everyone "this is how it is" even if they don't know. But do they know they don't know? I'm not sure. I think it's why I like to know who's a teacher of what in here.
-
It doesn't matter:-) May I suggest being careful in your attempts to un-attach?. IME it can get pretty obsessive;-) Whole religions get born that way :-p As to the "subconscious" well, there you are, it's not anymore:-)
-
It's because once you think you know how to do it then you'll try to do it. Trying is the thing you'd given up. Well I guess that's what happens. So you let go again.

I don't get it, there's a bunch of them (human spiritual teachers) right here on TTB. There's pretty much one for every flavour you care to mention:-) I don't know anything about fate and karma. Besides IMO you're as much in heaven as anyone else. If you're having trouble, maybe you could explain what it is? Or if you don't want to (which I can also understand) I'd get in touch with Hundun or Santiago.
