  1. Masturbation without ejaculation

I reckon it's pretty possible that (almost) everyone has been "caught" at it at one point or another. I've identified all in allone time I got caught. Oh the shame. And even then, I think it was accidental (that I got caught). The rest of the time, i didn't get caught hahahah. What happens after the "catching" is IMO more or less important (i.e. can set one up for future years and years of misunderstanding and judgement of self and others). Then we go add "practicing abstention" on top of such history, go figure... Imagine a time when we didn't have quite as much room for "privacy" - IMO means "getting caught" quite a lot! Edit:
  2. Man, one of my favourite movies! Makes me cry, every time:-)
  3. Heart & Soul

"T'pau" was always the tune I skipped (fast-forwarded) through on the hits tapes (yes, tapes) I bought. What's very unfortunate is despite this, I remember the whole tune. Dammit. However, tastes aside, I have to agree with Gerard. But we're talking mainstream airplay and not anything else? Give some credit. I reckon many people are no longer "mainstream" only, although the record and media co's are perhaps reluctant to admit it :-)
  4. Masturbation without ejaculation

Or girls From what I've understood from TTB's and elsewhere, it doesn't really matter, this non-ejaculation business. And can even be very harmful to men physically. I'd go get the hokey-purple-covered "Lover within" book we were talking about on the other thread (it's on Amazon) to understand the difference between climax and orgasm and the whole point of all of that stuff. Or go see our awesome friend Trunk's website. Many contributions from people who have tried "retention" and can explain "why not" very well indeed. Then there was that other suggestion that "retention" was about much "more" than "sex-energy." And had to do with abstaining from thought. Whole n'other ballgame (pardon the pun!) But if you understand "sex-energy" as something "terrible" and a bit "ole ole" the that's IMO where the very first error lies. It's just your life, and life in general, manifesting through you and your life and your organs. Blocking it off doesn't really sound like a very good idea.
  5. What is Tao

"My argument is that by being a process it becomes a thing" And IMO/IME herein lies the fundamental question/argument that most of the TTB's (including myself) have been arguing over for quite some time (don't let's go there right now;-)) Indeed, haven't most of the world's religions and philosophers been arguing over such "distinctions" for far too long? If that V-dude was here he'd start using the r-word (aagh). This "thing" business is IMO entirely artifical.Doesn't mean it ain't useful. Thank you!
  6. Herpes

Wow, you have a super-honest gf! With the current definitions of herpes "out there" - seems it went from something that a rather large % of the population has and probably got from a kiss from aunty or uncle in their childhood and is a bit annoying from time to time to "OMG-status". "OMG-Status" is a really really serious health-risk. In high-school. Then there's that very great oral/genital 1 and 2 HP distinction which apparently isn't one anymore because so many "more" people are getting it on orally. What were they doing before?? Do we know? If they liked it, they were probably doing it. My take is if it's not "manifesting" and when it's "manifesting" that's when you catch it, who cares? However, to be more helpful, as far as I can tell/have read, if you keep your immune system and overall health in a good state, there's not much you can't get around. Some very good TCM-people here too :-) Edit:typo
  7. Do tree's ground energy?

Yes I reckon the power production is supposed to heal the tree once you've hurt it, not siphoned off. I surmise there is probably nothing you can do to "pay it back". Reminds me of all the piezo-electric discussions on here.
  8. Endings

He's not a real nerd! Or if he is then I'd love to see more nerds like this guy. The eyeglasses are too fashionable and the hand to eye gestures too coordinated. Far too cute n' elegant. ---fake nerd alert---- Or At last! Knowledge-bearing is finally getting sex-appeal But don't expect it to be taught in school, kids That's what the internet is for :-)
  9. What is Tao

Finally, an erasing of the useless (to some) "is" in favour of other things (not static neither, so be vewy vewy careful). Yep, I'd love to know "why" :-) (I have a kind of an answer but sounds too silly so won't post, yet :-))
  10. What THEE heck? Kundalini or evil forces?

Good post Torus! Reckon this could be a hint to the Taoist grain (and dairy?) food warning??

  12. God is a rhythm

Oh wow! That's very cool. There's also something I found, um, a bit about the moves in relationship to the industrial gear but if I spoke about it here, I'd go even further down the "bat-crazy" route so will abstain Our friend with the fine chakra-analysis could do a great one on this IMO I reckon you're a natural tantric
  13. What THEE heck? Kundalini or evil forces?

Read this and see if anything sparks http://www.biologyofkundalini.com/ AND don't rule out actual other health problems. The candida issue can apparently cause a lot of what you might be experiencing. I'd go see a nutritionist or a TCM, some kind of system-wide expertise. Hopefully by now if you're in a metro area there should be a few. In addition to that, it might be worth learning some cultivation practices and good diet and exercise to help your condition. Then there's Susan and Seth on here who have seen a lot of K cases and would probably know where to point you. Best of luck!
  14. Cutting the root of the spirit?

I don't think I need to bet :-) My remark wasn't made to disparage non-material answers. In fact much of what I was citing as "forces" are wholly non-material, despite what people would probably consider to be "material" results of their expression. (I still think this is funny, but I digress:-)) Does that make any of them "spiritual"? Most certainly, for some people :-) Not at all for others, in-between for still others? :-) In fact I think that considering some of the forces as active agents with their own paths and relationships to each other and to humans is probably the best way to get any kind of practical understanding of them. There's been some research done that shows that people who can't understand complex math equations very much CAN understand them when the math is translated into human relationship stories. Think of Taoist 5E medical systems, creative and destructive cycles... If I have time to go dig up the research I'l post.
  15. Japan

Hey R_V. It's that I've just noticed in myself that deep sorrow and taking on others' pain is debilitating and runs counter to anything like taking action to alleviate the suffering. Strong desires are fine but I very much doubt that there's anything I can DO in practical terms. I think definitions are interesting but what one feels is IMO the real indicator. The "definition" might be more of a prescription, a social "should" rather than an actual "is". If I suggested to you that some part of what you might be feeling is a deeper echo of your own pain, that would be politically and socially and interpersonally incorrect and it might be false. Perhaps you do actually feel the suffering of thousands, but if so, let's not forget the rest of the world's population where the TV cameras are no longer shining upon their ongoing suffering.
  16. "Often this loosness, say where scientists happily discard yesterdays 'truth' in favour of a newly discovered 'truth', is used as a weapon against them in an attempt to discredit them. If anything the fact that the theory's keep updating should show how good the scientific paradigm is, as a system capable of evolution." IMO unfortunately this is much more used "for" and "against" specific interests. Irony being scientists (mostly) work within a proper understanding of the "scientific method" whereas those upon whom results have the most impact do not. There's been some great recent arguments for "ethical" science, including economics... A great read is Jonathan Marks "Why I am not a scientist". I'd love to see everyone learning the scientific method:-)
  17. Japan

This struck me "Quit trying as none wished to listen." Is it just an idea or does this happen a lot? Not to HJ the thread here but when one's efforts in the world are met with opposition, isn't that when many turn to "spirituality"? For Japan, the ideas said in a small quiet voice were that this event would show the world the error of nuclear and the power of nature and force a faster nature/human collaboration when it comes to energy production. I haven't identified it as wishful thinking and it won't go away. The urges to be calm and take care of each other is the most sound advice I've heard ever. While you can feel compassion for others, taking on their pain and suffering will not help them, nor you. I know this might sound the opposite of compassionate as I think we are so often taught that to feel compassion is to feel the other's pain. But this is IMO false. No room for despondency either. Start imagining the future and make it a better one. I ought to add that I'm a natural pessemist so who knows where I'm getting these ideas from:-)
  18. Taoism Vs Buddhism

A Daoist stand-up comic :-) Post 'em here! I need a good laugh:-)
  19. The Lower Chakras

"Hey K, a little confused as to why you find it disconcerting that there would be a lesson, yet agree that there is a lot to learn? lol. " Oh, what I mean is "learning" definitely takes place (also see my rambling on the other thread about tendency to resolve) but what I don't like is the "lesson" idea because IMO it smacks of "told you so" or "see? I was right?" "morality" or "you deserved it, that'll teach you" or any number of things I associate with "lessons". It also implies that someone knows something you don't, therefore putting greater value on the contents of their mind than yours, and is withholding that information until they judge you are in a place to receive it. While in some cases this might be necessary (and we've been through threads and threads of why cultivation teachers do this kind of stuff) I can't extrapolate it further than that to include the cosmos/universe, that would just be a silly personal projection :-)
  20. Cutting the root of the spirit?

I've been pondering on this one. I'm at a point where I consider that multiple forces are acting on a person long before and after their conception, throughout their gestation, and at (and of course after) birth, within and without. I'm using the term "lineage" but it implies a "progression" where there isn't necessarily one. I've preferred "tendency towards resolution/completion" in the past. Lots of interesting books have been written about the various "forces" but they all (unfortunately) tend to single themselves out as the "most" influential - another casualty of dualistic (as opposed to systems-based) thinking, IMO. For example. Genetic lineage Social/cultural/familial lineage Environmental lineage "Spritual" (as in the "unseen" "immaterial" as opposed to "woo-woo") lineage The other error I've seen made is attributing any (or all) of the above to one's own "small i" agency. IMO "New Age" does this far too much - including the idea that one "chooses" to incarnate into a specific set of circumstances. Although this "could" be true at the macrocosmic level (and I'd have assume it is, at this point...simply because I'm here and conscious of the fact) I don't believe it to be true at the "micro-cosmic" level which is where most religions seem to insist that (re)incarnation happens. Rambling as usual...
  21. Wonderful! Thanks Sean, Apech and everyone :-)
  22. The Tao of Tool/APC

I'm listening to Lateralus as I write and occurs to me, many voices in the song, then a reuniting of all of them (briefly) in the refrain. i don't know much about Fibonacci but I recall them being more important before, something. I find the reuniting of the voices much more poignant (and there are a still a couple of yearning phrasings in there that "get" me :-) Oh and the resolution of the spirals part. But I think the latter isn't obvious, until it is.
  23. The Tao of Tool/APC

It was Santi that put me onto Tool. Pretty cool with the lyrics and the Alex Grey stuff:-) Very nice lift. Perfect for "K" raising :-) Music has always been a part of my life, even if I'm not a musician. Things that rise and uplift (tending soul but running jazz and blues and classical and drumming at any moment). But I think I'm pretty much a music sl*t. Apparently, this is not "normal". Seems people get into musical domains and stay there as much as they get stuck in other things. Check out this guy Daniel_Levitin
  24. God is a rhythm

"I have lots of video of me dancing in the physical environment (on stairs, bulldozers, etc.), because that was a project of mine, for awhile." Is it on the mayhem link? That sounds cool :-)
