"bodies that have been locked to average people by someone" By ourselves - with some help from our family, friends, peers, superiors and inferiors. The good news is yes, you can free it up.
  2. Third Eye

Oh. "earth" - "water" - "fire" - "wind" - "void" - frequencies ? Yeah I keep seeing them stacked like that from "lower" to "higher" (no moral judgement here) or in Taoist 5E they have a different relationship and the systems are more connected. I'm not sure there are even chakras in there? I think there are dantiens which are sort of big chakras. Anyway, IMO (and small experience) chakras (and elements) are a mnemonic system that may or may not have actual "connections" to other parts of "reality" - depending on whatever that is. I agree that it's a great meditation system and the associations that flow out of it are awesome. If you read my thread, I got direct connections with different animals at 2 chakras - and who's to say I didn't really connect? You'd have to ask the elephant and the whale. What's way more cool is if the associations (animals for example) are consistent - even in people who would never have seen the actual animals themselves. But there's big problem with that due to people's tendency to want to validate their experience.
  3. My scary Lipid Panel

"just can't believe drug companies would behave in such a manner! " Whaa...? ------sigh------ DK, what happens if you don't like green tea or pu-er tea? I've also found that tea on an empty stomach gives me immediate nausea. Whereas coffee doesn't. What's your TCM take on why?
  4. Third Eye

Can I try a translation into what I personally understand? "Since the 3rd eye is connected to space, or ether." Translation: whatever is termed "third eye" refers to "something" that is directly connected to non-semantic, non-visual, non-auditory, non-etc (insert one of the "5" senses here) awareness "Focusing on and contemplating time and time again the endless nature of space, the encompassing nature of space, the empty and full nature of space, the pervasive and persistent nature of space," Translation: focusing on a non-semantic, non-visual, non-auditory, non-etc (insert one of the "5" senses here) awareness "one can have 3rd eye opening arise dependent upon these contemplations" Translation: one can have direct awareness of "something" that is directly connected to non-semantic, non-visual, non-auditory, non-etc (insert one of the "5" senses here) awareness "where the consciousness ceases to be limited by the seeming confines of individuality" Translation: where consciousness ceases to be limited by habitual concerns of semantic, visual, auditory, etc (insert one of the "5" senses here) awareness" "and one is able to see, feel, hear, smell, and even taste multi-dimensionally beyond the 5 senses but connected to the 5 senses." Translation: and one is able to be aware without being limited by habitual concerns of semantic, visual, auditory, etc (insert one of the "5" senses here) awareness Does that work?
  5. Third Eye

Excellent posts. Given that our friend Drew is IMO and IME (current) correct in his evaluation of "left-brain chatter" - in other words that which we mistake to be ourselves (well, it is, but only part of it and not necessarily the whole truth) is there anyway the "DO" theory could be constructively linked (mapped) to the rest of the 3rd eye practice technically-speaking? Or is it just basically Proust and turtles all the way?
  6. Bottomless pit/stretching Feeling.

"separating from my body" Disassociation? Funnily enough I was just talking to someone else about such things when TaoMeow's post landed. Good call, exactly what I'm on about
  7. Hello!

Thanks for the post! I never look there - so just noticed it today!

  8. Bottomless pit/stretching Feeling.

Suggestions for "things" to get checked because linked to issues with perception of where one's body is in space/related to other things in space: - eyes - inner ear I had it for a while when falling asleep. The "landing" would wake me up. It was just a muscle jerk but the way I experienced it was as a fall then a bump. I find my "chi" dropping down a lot when I am sitting still. I can also sink it at will. If you could try to replicate the experience, what would you have to do?
  9. Of Men and Of Heaven

"people what it all and they want it now and that they deserve everything they want." Now why would they go thinking/believing that? "But there they sit, bitching about those who have but too lazy to get up from in front of the TV and honestly earn what they need." See my post above on the confusion of want/need and the bait n switchTM "And they even blame the government for taking everything from them or for not giving them what they want." Why? "There really isn't anything wrong with getting a job and earning an honest wage. That was how I was able to retire in my early 50's." Good for you! Do you think "they" can/can't/don't want to? It's one thing if they can and don't want to, entirely another if they can't.
  10. I'd tend to suggest that things not feeling as bad as they did before would confidently indicate healing is going on. Plus the other posters are correct, the "spleen" is a whole system and not just one "organ" - that's "meat factory" talk
  11. Of Men and Of Heaven

I felt I needed to add: "So what is being honored today? Yeah, no doubt about it, power and wealth." From my small understanding of TTC "power", and "wealth" are not the same. And from my small understanding of present values (sic) "wealth" has been switched (as in "bait and switch") for something else. "Power" is as "power" does.
  12. Of Men and Of Heaven

'Cept I'm not Actually, if you look at the video a few times you'll "get" some understanding into "science", "power", "politics", "honour" and "shameful" women. At the end after being found guilty by the "duck-weighing" exercise on the scientist's "biggest scales" she says it's a "fair cop" Puts that LHC into some context fer yours truly
  13. Of Men and Of Heaven

"Honorable human values would be to express love and caring." Of course they would be! But look at what is presently honored? Where's that Iching stanza that explains that to understand someone you only have to look at what they appreciate, eat, associate with, all that jazz? How do you "honor" something anyway? Personally, I'm not sure at all. I think I have lots of people telling me how (tends to be through taking my ca$h or wanting my submission). I have a few data-points, experiences and perspectives (probably insufficient as "proof") that our friend Drew here is technically correct. Of course he sounds like a crazy person (sometimes). Plus his "bad behaviour" in McDonalds - the strange stories of animals and his triumphant-sounding recounting of it all is weird as hell, but still I'd like to suggest, "do the math" (as in "do the practices"). They really don't take that long.
  14. Hi SFJane! "If I was doing time in a pig pen with nothing to interest me I might get irritable too. It makes sense that ETBS is not really a syndrome per se but a pig social and behavioral problem resulting from confinement that clears up for awhile as soon you divert the pigs with something new." This is a really good thing to consider when it comes to ANY supposed "mental" illness. Which aspects of it are merely reactions/ attempts to deal with an obviously upsetting situation? Or a paradoxical one, or a dissonant one? It's kind of sad that the guy in the story was so easily able to compare his kids with pigs. I mean he accepted a "pig cure" for his little kids!? Who's the pig here? In too many cases, IMO it's the situation that is sick and the people inside don't see it. Reasons why they don't see it may be too painful or risky to evoke. Another good reason to ditch "ego" and appeal to "higher" self. Of course IME these are one and the same but we need the trick "technically" for us to be able to (re)fool ourselves out of the situation we got ourselves into - whether or not we fooled ourselves the first time or we were fooled (which in many cases we were but didn't find out until too late) It still works I don't mind the "god" issue if it allows me to bypass myself See the guy who figured he was becoming a wuss on the other thread? As long as the "wussy meditator" remains in a culture that doesn't value what he is (or is becoming, whatever) then it could be a hard journey all round. That's why learning to kick a$$ whether literally or figuratively once you understand what's going on is potentially a good skillset to add on to your "higher" understanding. "Healing" could be another one - since it's a necessary role and carries all kinds of power with it. Of course, one should be able to become multi-brained and kick a$$ and heal and paint and dance and write and philosophize at any time in one's life. In my opinion, obviously.
  15. Surely I'm not enlightened..

"Initial growing pains of the spiritual life can often seem as harrowing" -You got that right
  16. Immortals vs. Bodhisattvas (or arahats)?

"depends on visualization" I think this part is especially important/cool/weird/neat/dangerous/crucial.
  17. I, ship

"No ship man!" -Kidding -kidding as usual. I don't know where we came from but it's sure as hell the key to where we're going. (don't worry, I make words for a living )
  18. Choosing a Practice

I didn't have any "practices" until my life went to shit. I failed pretty miserably in various aspects of my life and I sought to understand why and what (if anything) I could do about it. I have always liked books and those would be one of my first accesses (and recesses.) So I tried a bunch of things from the books I had read. I read a bunch. Tried a bunch. Got a bunch wrong. Totally screwed up (on a number of levels) and found this bunch of people on TTB's. I like them a great deal. It's an awesome bunch of people. I guess they really helped the most in deciding what practices to do. But generally tends to be (for me) more of a "I felt like it" kind of choice more than a "this choice would be ---because" I would like to think that I am becoming more discerning when it comes to selecting practices. Nothing is less sure. But I'm getting better at it.
  19. I, ship

Now that's pretty weird. I've been having similar considerations lately. The main question that is bugging me though is whether the consciousness in question is "Earth native symbiosis" or "Off-earth, non-native symbiosis" I guess it doesn't matter in practice Still, all that stuff in the Immortal Sisters book about mushrooms...
  20. The Pursuit of Power

"I'm unable to convince anyone." A really great "power" to have is to understand why that is- and there are lots of "whys" but I guess they could boil down to only one. I agree that desiring "powers" is a good topic. "Helping" people could be subtle control (or not so subtle, per the drug industry examples this week), or a way to (retroactively) regain power one never had at a time when it was really needed. Such as in "When I was beaten up, had I had X power at the time, it wouldn't have happened, or I'd have won. Problem being that having the power any time before or after that fact will still not change that fact. Bummer. I guess I would have fun lighting up light bulbs with my paws but then if I want to light my house that way, I'd have to stand around like a lampstand (which would be pretty silly and make it impossible to do other things I like). Maybe I could train other people to light up the lightbulbs so they could do it - per the shade-bearing slaves or the people who would fan the Queen of old? But I don't believe in slavery. If I train to kick serious a$$ I would then need to ensure it was never known about for I could suddenly find myself in an army of trained a$$-kickers and I don't believe in war. I suppose I could train to seek magical revenge for the way the "elites" are driving the world but since they don't care about anyone, they wouldn't notice the cruel removal of one (or several) of theirs. Besides, they have enough wannabees lining up to take part. Why?
  21. Chi packed breakfast dishes?

He, NOW I feel normal. I don't eat breakfast except when I feel like it (more in winter). When I was a kid I was pumped full of Kellogs breakfast adrenaline (now there's a weirdo...)
  22. Immortals vs. Bodhisattvas (or arahats)?

My Japanese friends used it to indicate a kind of "is that so?/so it is" - MOSTLY to have a conversation pursued. You can Google it. It has a bunch of other applications and attributes. I like it because it's sort of impersonal. I guess to show someone here that I want the conversation to go on (BUT not because I NECESSARILY agree) - well, I'd have to make a noise. A humph maybe? And should my humph be agreeable or not? A "hmm"?
  23. "It can be very scary, not to mention dangerous." Some of those practices, they ain't referred to as "warrior path" fer nothing.
