Hey WT. I'm quoting this because I'm not sure what you mean but at the same time the explanation behind what I wrote is really interesting (well, I thought so anyway;-)) My Lil bro' used to beat me up. Quite a lot in fact. Ostensibly because I said things to him that made him upset (parental court of law in action;-)) So my main takeaway is that I DIDN'T do all the cool memorable things that some other Big Sis's did for their Lil Bro's. I guess I felt I had a pretty good reason/circumstances that precluded me from doing so. I don't think it helps that we're only 2 years apart. There are other things I won't get into for lack of space and just personal privacy reasons. Probably other things I missed at the time. Whatever. We just never made it through as a brother-sister 'team' to adulthood. The parents didn't/couldn't help for whatever reason. I can't talk to him now and I consider him a douche. He thinks I'm a bitch the size of the US. We're both right;-)

Apart from the yogis (or Xeno, who didn't do anything on purpose) who here has actually had so much as a whiff of (throwing oneself off a building, cutting some veins/arteries, taking a massive dose of whatever it takes, sticking their head in an oven -preferably gas, or it just takes longer...) or even just felt that way for enough time to say 'Yes, this would seriously be a better idea than anything else' and taken steps in that direction? I agree with Seadog. If you feel so low that suicide seems the only thing to do then there are still other things you can do. Ideas like that aren't worth having. Ideas can be talked about at length after all this. You need to save yourself first.Call 911, get to an outpatient dept. They know what to do in emergencies. You can look at prevention after that. You are worth living, otherwise you wouldn't be alive in the first place. Welcome all arguments that say otherwise. Come at me with a "Tao wants it that way" tip and I'll reply that Tao also wants you to be one with it, and I mean in a fully-intentional, without ego in the way, way. By all means kill your ego and come back after that and say you still want to top yourself and I still won't believe you so I will send you back to 911 and your therapist (or your family). I can't stress enough how terrible internet can be for taking care of each other but if you are in any danger anytime now. Get assistance where you're at.

This is a similar thread to that old one about TTB losing it's mojo (or something). Then after that I noticed a whole lot of 'veteran' (sorry for the word) TTB's came back and made comments on various things and also some n00b (sorry for the newspeak) TTB's came along and rocked the place with some advanced analysis on texts, some very interesting newer sources (of whatever kind) and some review of older threads that then got a new lease of life. Craig, I don't know if your post means you're leaving or you're staying despite yourself. Either way, wishing you love. Kate

Even if what you're saying is the case (ok, it is;-)) - WHY would one want to manipulate all of those things? Ok, maybe just for sport;-) - short term yey-yey. Whooppee-doo in our seeming times of loveless, sexually-transmitted-boring relationships. Supermarket. Walmart. Blow-job for a handbag. Relationships don't get fun until they take you to your borders (and I'm not talking about sexual practices, nor about dysfunction). My thoughts are if you're PUA without a desire to learn the loving practices behind that and move on (again, think "Dale C" and above and beyond) you might be stuck there. For WT, I was a crap Big Sis for what it's worth. Certainly not the kind Darin talked about!

Just an idea and no irony or joking intended. Maybe try referring to women as women and not 'females' - I know it's probably a cultural deal but it comes off as if you don't actually know any women as people. Then you could try all the psychological stuff our PUAs in residence suggest. Half of which isn't half bad, if you read it like Dale C. And before you get into the "All women are..." game DON'T! It will likely jade you (or scare you) before you get enough of your own experience in there to say anything at all about even one or two women. Let alone all of them. Ditto for any "All men are..." talk;-) Love, Big Sis.

Cool! Thanks Var for reminding us of the health benefits. Yes better skin is a health benefit. Maybe we should get that woman from Oprah who was shooting up estrogen to try it? I'm not joking. I really do think that DE has definite effects. I'm also looking forward to when I have a bit more time to take on some new practices;-)

Hallo! I'm KIDDING, KIDDING ;-) Sorry kids, normal service resumes...

What do energetic practices have to do with enlightenment?
Birch replied to 11:33's topic in General Discussion
Good one Seadog. I don't know Whitetiger I'd go for longevity first. But that's just me. -
Steve and Forestofsouls. I'm so touched! Thank you! I was wandering back through the thread to get an intellectual grip on all the things everyone was saying (and I guess I should try again because I kept getting stuck) and I came across your posts quite unexpectedly. Wow. You brought a smile to my face and a tear to my eye.

Hey Scott, My take is that draw is unassisted ONLY if a woman climaxes. Otherwise, nope;-) And I may add that the energy can be pretty darn annoying if you don't DO something with it. Preferably with someone;-)
-
This the person who is checking the thing out ('s) own doing. What this could mean could go pretty far;-) Direct transmission seems like a better link-up. But still rife with potential for misunderstanding.

I'm on these boards because the people here are brilliant.

Immortality being out of reach for who exactly? -
Just do it ! If I had the swoosh, I would put it here;-) But know that you can also do it right where you are - a very different challenge. Agree with some other folks, don't be a Trustafarian and a sponger;-) Now I want to read that book!

What do energetic practices have to do with enlightenment?
Birch replied to 11:33's topic in General Discussion
Absolutely. This is VERY important. From experience. Not negligible. This is where lots of people lose it. I don't think this is necessary, nor required. Although I'm sure I'll get some Kamikaze answers as to why it is. Those would be good to discuss. -
Ok! For the boob thing, I was more into going the OTHER way ;-) Stopping period is one thing, stopping PMS and crap energy loss is another. I'd go with simply following energy levels (and when all else fails, go to stillness;-)) Balancing hormones is way more difficult and I can't talk to that. Balancing effects of those seems easier for me to get to. Scott, I'm not sure what you're talking about specifically. DE doesn't take it all the way. It stops short.

Can you feel the wind on your face? Is it warm or cold? What do you feel after the wind hits your face? What is your first thought immediately following that? Yeh, I guess that sounds stupid, but do we need to have Chi shouting at us to feel it? My suggestion would be to drop awareness (down ?) to the point where you can feel something. I guess that some people would just prefer the volume turned up;-) Then sex is your amplifier;-) Anyway, as someone I listened to the other day mentioned, it would be really crap to feel absolutely everything all the time.

I tried it for a few weeks. What I found personally was that it got a bit sad for me. I tend to stop/pull back on things when I'm getting too neg results like I had with DE or other forms. But to answer 'what do you 'do' with the aroused energy?' - Enjoy it! And if it gets annoying, I would suggest grounding or circulating it. Trunk is the guy here for that stuff;-)
-
Same here. I found the bit about hormonal modulation especially interesting. I've tried Bach on a couple of occasions but really couldn't say what the vibe was from that.
-
That was a good one. Thank you! I'd love for you to dig around and find something more about this stuff.

If it helps any, then lots of less 'mystical' folks (Check out the Daniel Gilberts and brain plasticity guys - lots of those.) are also riding in the direction of there being 'no-one' home ;-) At least "no-one" in the simplistic way we tend to create for ourselves as we develop. There is not a 'thing' somewhere in your brain (or you foot, or your behind (although I sometimes wonder ;-))) that is doing any of the doing but the doing is still happening. This doesn't mean anyone disappears, just that perspective shifts. Scott taught me that one;-) And I am very grateful to him for it. I'm sort of happy in -between knowing I don't and I do exist all at the same time. It hasn't improved my Kung Fu (because I never practiced;-)) but it gives a whole new perspective on cultivation and practices, learning, goals, all kinds of cool stuff that actually improve your capacity to clean houses and earn a paycheck - but you might end up wanting to do that in a completely different way from the way you are currently doing it! My 'ego' kicks in from time to time (I can feel it burning in my chest sometimes) as does a whole range of other feelings. It's not like it all suddenly disappeared (at least for me;-)) Anyway, TTB is pretty much the only forum where we can discuss such things because people tend to get weirded out if I go there. And the last thing I really want is to weird people out;-) It's bad for paychecks;-)

What's the point of Union with Tao? Enlightenment? Satori?
Birch replied to DaoChild's topic in General Discussion
Why bother going after enlightenment? Because of the things (we) do to get there. If the sole idea of that goal makes a whole bunch of people practice to be more compassionate and aware of themselves (and less dependent on received or borrowed ideas, dogmas and conditions) then that's a pretty good reason enough I would say. That has pretty big implications for lots of things. Non of them negligible. Scott, did you have anything to do with this enlightenment thread? ;-) -

Birch replied to 11:33's topic in General Discussion
Oh man, the 'What is enlightenment' thread is back! Scott, is this your doing;-)? -
Extensive research;-) Not really. Just some ideas. Like coffee, for example. it's effects change over the course of a day and current energy levels. Or eating meat, or just veggies - although it seems hard to say what happens if you eat too much lettuce (for example;-)) Smoking is an interesting one to look at too (cigarettes, not pot). It totally screws with your reward system while poisoning your lungs. The main idea is to look into what happens with all of those products if you can isolate them from their social/moral implications (the consideration of which also has effects so it becomes a very dirty experiment;-))

Ok. So I had NO IDEA that Deida mentioned the exercise of imagining your father (or we could say for women flatly : your mother) dead. I don't like that at all. He's also making a big time assumption that the parent of the same sex is the deal. It could be the other one and you'd miss it if you followed those instructions. For sure, to gain any kind of insight, you have to kill your own ideas (whether they are of your mother and father or not) What's going on with D? What's going on with you? Check the rear view mirror before changing lanes;-)
