Oh man. Seriously, compassion requires definition? I suppose it does now. Taomeow's story was a tale of compassionnocompassion. --opinion---

Hum, I get maybe something like this. It visualises/feels like I have all of me but with the ends chopped-off-like. And I do remember the chopped off ends but I don't know what they are.Oftentimes seems they'd be worth having back, but tradition rid us of them. ---sorry about that opinion--

I don't want you to do anything Mr MH:-) I wasn't thinking about future-telling as much as I was thinking about the relationship between intuition, information and reference points. Let's say my current reference points for any given 'area' of reality are A, B and C (aside from the fact they might be wrong due to my misunderstanding- information)so when I use my intuition, what's it relying on? Reference points ABC, something else? You did talk to that in your last idea about chi. I haven't any firm conclusions on it yet.

The top one hundred earners were paid enough money last year to end poverty on this planet.......four times over!
Birch replied to flowing hands's topic in General Discussion
Takes what? I understood this as qi flows. I don't think anyone 'should' be doing stuff at the negative expense of others. However, just by living where I do, eating what I do, everything I do, I am taking from others. That's pretty clear. Can I do otherwise? Make sure the people I'm taking from have enough for themselves? http://slaveryfootprint.org/ -
That's a real interesting idea Mr MH. What do you reckon one's intuition covers? Let's say you have a set of reference points that are currently not applicable (e.g. conditions have changed, new stuff is in play that you don't know about) is one's intuition only taking those into account or is it able to go beyond to include the current actual conditions?

Agreed it sounds like something for the medical doctor. The question on whether this is a side effect of practices is a good one. I read somewhere (and as usual, if I find it again I'll post) pranayama could have long term effects that might not be what you want, but I'd rather let the more experienced bum yogis weigh in on it. I found this just now: http://www.ayurvedacollege.com/articles/drhalpern/Pranayama_Yoga_Ayurveda Yep, see a doc and get a teacher.

The field effect and the burden of responsibility for our thoughts and emotions
Birch replied to Audiohealing's topic in Daoist Discussion
Glad you enjoyed the posts Audiohealing:-) Yeah, I think it's great to find out that this stuff isn't exactly 'new':-) -
Sometimes I wish I read and understood ideograms. I wonder too how different people perceive them. I wonder if it's possible for many people to have different levels of understanding of them. My (vague) understanding of Chinese is that terms are much looser and context-dependent really. Not like English where the words impose upon the context (methinks). So there you have my romantic misunderstood fantasy of ideograms. ----opinion---

The field effect and the burden of responsibility for our thoughts and emotions
Birch replied to Audiohealing's topic in Daoist Discussion
I've been wondering whether I should contribute to this thread or not, but I thought it might be worth throwing it out there and then Audiohealing or anyone else that wants can pick it up (or not). First, it has been my experience with kundalini that the kind of experience Audiohealing is talking about is a real phenomenon, everything vibes off everything else, energies get imposed upon, subdued, alchemy happens. Where does one's personal responsibility in any of it have location? I'd argue that awareness does not necessarily imply that one is now even more responsible than before. The attribution of responsibility would be the first thing to question (rather than assume per any Bhuddist or other beliefs about it then acting as a function of that belief). I liked the responses that called for more consciousness. After that, the 'what to do now I have consciousness?' I suggest that the 'what to do' question gets somewhat answered by itself once you allow consciousness. This is only my personal experience. Have I used 'control' and 'stopping' and other techniques in situations like this? Yes, as a temporary measure. Definitely works. ----opinion etc--- -
Right Mr GranP. I agree. I liked the meditation though. Why? Because if I dig around 'conventionally' for reasons for my attitudes about money it's both going to take a long time and I could be hiding 'stuff' from myself (for various reasons) so I might think I'm getting somewhere when I'm not. I do more conventional things as well. This approach (my take on it) is that it 'lets' things out to play that otherwise might stay hidden. After all, the only attitude I have to resolve about money is my very own, right? Hmm, not so sure. The act (fully felt motion of release towards, acknowledgement of resistence to) of giving the cow what it wants from me provides understanding. I'm not finished with it, of course. I suppose I could start getting into what this cow represents but that would be adding a layer of association on top of things already associated of themselves. Also that it wasn't that easy to give to the cow. I was more surprised at that than the rest. I thought I was a 'good' 'ecologically-caring' sort. Apparently I'm not all that. Edit: note the previous post says I didn't remember what happened after that, the above recalls I found it tough to give to the cow. What's happening here?

I disagree that art is an escape Mr MH. In some respects it's the only space in which people can freely examine reality and says things about it that don't get said elsewhere. The artists I've met all work pretty damn hard and it's often thankless too. My earlier comment was not intended to be 'anti-boomer' but a suggestion to examine reference points. If an 'education' that is required for entry-level jobs puts you 50K in debt before you've earned anything, I say, look again.

The web more than likely increases the sense of synchronicity. I've found it happens to me more and more these days but I think I did something iffy to my neurals via meditation, plus there's the internet. haha

Sure WWROA, but I reckon it's worth researching oneself this stuff. It goes deep. If the education you receive is counter to yourself, takes you off into some world constructed for the benefit of others while not respecting your path in the process, it can be soul-destroying.

I guess the OP could be edited to reflect a more general question. I'm working on the job and money and wealth question quite extensively at the moment. There's also much 'out there' that suggests that the question of career and training isn't quite as simple as the people who got their education in the 70's suggests. And this has nothing to do with 'selling out' but the very real facts about the costs and value of 'education' and training. This being said, it must be possible to work this stuff out so that a person's options are not as stifled. 'Having it all' is a viable option, 'having it all at once' is something trickier IMO/IME.

Mr GrandP, that's a very nice cognitive explanation of synchronicity and I agree with it. The stories told about Jung were about him expressing a need for some kind of event to happen at a particular time and it happening. Although I guess the conditions around him were probably ripe.

Deci, yer just as skanty as Mr VMarco in this one.

"Contriving supposed truths before you have yet to experience them is IMO silly and a waste of time" And isn't it just that - the supposed truths- that get exhorted upon others by people with no experience of them themselves? Ack. I think it can go beyond silly and time-wasting. Anyway, very well said Old Green.

Mine, probably, ha hahaha.

So still playing around on this topic, I wandered accross a meditation for 'improving relationship with money'. The basic gist was get into calm meditative state, contemplate money and beckon all images/beings related to it to come to you. And notice feelings, emotions etc and then ask the beings what they want from you and then give it to them (visualization). I tried it and got a cow (serious), who wants me to help save/protect ecology. But I can't remember what happened after that.

John Lamb Lash? Someone else? I don't know what it takes for space objects to get considered as part of a system (implication is they have effects or influence on each other). And then it gets complicated when scientists recategorize objects into non-planets. But then I suppose those guys aren't considering them as part of a system anyway, or are they? The way I currently understand things (which is not much at all BTW) is that the planets are referential objects for Earth-based workings (whether it be navigation, agriculture, weather-prediction, geo-magnetic shifts etc). But what if this Earth-centered idea isn't actually where the planetary-system workings has its origin, but that it's being applied to Earth? So when stuff doesn't line up with the original system model (from wherever) then it has to get changed to reflect our system.

Sade Sati. It's very interesting this Saturn stuff Slacker Bee. I had no idea of the correspondences. But from where I'm reading it, it looks like it's cross-referenced with a specific part of the human psyche which often gets very bad press on the TTB's. Hmm, Satan is quite close to it it too. I'd love to sit down and have a conversation with Icke and try to ask him questions about this stuff.

How do you reckon people would imagine the village through their senses? Would it be worth using that way in?

Yeah, I'll join the gang:-)

Nothing in particular precipitated - it felt like the right thing to do. Although, now you're asking me after the fact, how do I know what the reason was? No, there was a feeling of agreement, accord of the sides which you and Hydrogen had determined yourselves to be on. That's when I heard the silent sound. It happens from time to time. Now with respect to your above comments all I hear is 'clang clang' since you have divided you, enlightened on the one hand and Hydrogen not, on the other. Well 'technically' I've done this, but still. Barse ackwards.
-
Ah, you ought to know this one Deci. What's the silent sound? I don't know what you're talking about with this love problem. I agree if you're referring to the reverse (which is what I used to call love, but it's all a bit screwed up backwards.) Are you sure Hydrogen and you aren't in agreement?
