  1. The above has been claimed by a variety of people. Having some amount of meditation/mindfulness experience I disagree. My experience has been that I become aware of a thought, then 'decide' whether that thought is 'acceptable' or not, then attempt (and can succeed at this quite well sometimes but not always) to add another thought that would be more appropriate or pleasant after the first one.
  2. Laozi versus the logicians

Yeah. I'm not resting easy on this way of doing things at all. But hey, just need to rid myself of that damned illusion of self and I'll go willingly.
  3. Laozi versus the logicians

Interesting points Stosh. I only have my wonderings. Anyway, I question whether one side is aware it needs the other to continue working as it has been in order to continue. The idea that all can develop under a system that requires a majority to be in poverty (uh, I mean 'underdeveloped') for it to be workable is a major sticking point. ---opinion etc--
  4. I can't watch it because of the glasses. But it reminds me of that girl who was hanging out with Tantra Mongoose and then went off and developed her own 'workshops'. Not sexy. -- opinion--
  5. Pyth, why did you go back to the appartment after the dinner 'not-a-date'? Maybe aside from internal orgasms the women have other things to offer in the ways, of, well, stuff. I was going to say something like 'DON'T GO BACK TO THE APPARTMENT'.
  6. I'd take Keanu in a second, haha;-) Anyway, so it looks like we can't even say 'sexy' anymore without being super covert and ironic and lying about it. Which is why the 'schm' sound. Which, if you consider it, is an interesting sound and linguistic reference. Hum. I don't reckon you need to be downloading bad software, but surely TTB's could help with some free to non-costly editing ideas? I'm not on Windaos.
  7. Laozi versus the logicians

Because they are now being duly pitted. I wonder if they were before? Maybe not on the same scale - unless you count killing large numbers of people in the previous pitting.
  8. I'll trade you my potato sacks.
  9. Hello !

    Welcome to da TTB's!
  10. oooh, this poster is going straight up in the upstairs WC:-) What does 'shmexy' mean?
  11. We are taught to be dishonest at birth

    Polyester feels icky.
  12. Do we/can we choose our thoughts?

There's some argument that more experience makes for more refined 'gut-feelings'. I'm guessing it depends to what one's gut is attuned. So for example I haven't attuned mine to abstract economic theory, so I'd fail miserably if I tried to apply my gut to that. Oh, and quantum physics:-)
  13. Do we/can we choose our thoughts?

"The ego: we believe in it but where is it?" To be honest Chris, I don't think this is correct. It's something we are told by buddhists. --2cts--
  14. Do we/can we choose our thoughts?

"Without thoughts, do you exist?" Yes:-)
  15. a belated intro

    Welcome (back)!
  16. Do we/can we choose our thoughts?

"Are we going to carry this attitude into our spirtiual journey as well?" My experience is that yes indeed, this is what happens. I was reading some other stuff the other day on the self-mutilating monks. Why? Why would they do such a thing?
  17. Do we/can we choose our thoughts?

I quite believe it Jetsun. I also noticed that even though I don't watch TV I do use internet and so I pick up popular expressions from there without even realizing it.
  18. I'd watch a movie of Keanu Reeves watching a movie about Tai Chi:-)
  19. Do we/can we choose our thoughts?

No, it's a good thread for it!
  20. Do we/can we choose our thoughts?

Ah yes. The first thing I agree with.
  21. Wisdom from Scientists

I'd play a gameshow like that. Heck, maybe I'd even watch TV again if there were a gameshow like that (which arguably all TV is actually about these days but since I don't watch I'm buggered if I know).
  22. Do we/can we choose our thoughts?

I had a thought like too at one point but I don't believe it anymore.
  23. Can Kundalini "burn up" entities?

"Sort of like humans are a bot-net that a sort of amorphous intelligent energy entity has inserted 'tentacles' into? " That's been one of my experiences. Mine a bit more as if the earth had popped up gopher holes all over its surface but only one gopher lived in all of them and it was 'us'. That whole thing was just an experience and I haven't been sufficiently convinced by it to take it further.
  24. We are taught to be dishonest at birth

I think your idea about what clothing implies has some legs, but even if all I had were potato sacks, I'd still be wearing five or six of them in winter.
