  1. Financial Sorcery

Reading through that book, the above did come to mind. But I liked his suggestions for considering one's 'set point' regards money. More 'Know thyself' stuff. I did wonder about using his suggestions for sigils. Old Green, you're a magic person, do sigils belong to anyone?
  2. Depression

Certainly, if one is 'switching' from a view of the world as being ruled by a bearded man with a demi-god son born of a virgin to a view where that doesn't hold sway, I suspect many many aspects of a person's very structure may be changed as a result. Not least of all with respects to 'god-instituted' social structures which may be where the real idea about 'crazy' is working its magic. Think the DSM (4 or 5) actually lends itself to curing people with mental illness? Think again. ---opinion etc---
  3. Inspired by several threads and my own personal experiences, I'd like to open the discussion about the ideologies that may be vehicled by different vehicles of practice. Has anyone else noticed such things in their practice? Can practices that unbind 'blockages' also create them? What about the 'witness' in mindfulness practice? What of 'control' of emotions and 'choice'? What about dietary restrictions?
  4. There is no longer any doubt in my mind about mind/body unity. Fine enough. So, remains for me the issue of "spirit". I am currently finding myself unsatisfied by my own vague notions of "spirit" and i do not currently have experiences that i could point to with certainty and say "yes, this was spirit" rather than a type of consciousness or my imagination or ?? Perspectives?
  5. Male majority on spiritual sites

Nothing wrong with either of those things Mr Pie. Although I prefer cookies and forests tend to have biting things in them so you need to watch where you put a naked butt. However, more seriously, it would seem 'most' men have a head-start on head-related things. I had no idea about this but many men apparently can't sense their bodies. I can't unsense mine. If you've ever read Kafka, you'll know it's not a woman who suddenly woke up one morning to find herself transformed into a huge beetle. Edit: typo
  6. Assessing a Sickness called "My Life"

I feel like I understand it but I always feel terribly scolded by Deci and other people who talk about this stuff. On more than several occasions, however, what he's talking about has been seen in horrible fluorescent light by me, who, upon discovering it pretends not to understand and, well, goes back to doing whatever it was without that darn fluorescent bulb hanging over my head showing me what an ass I've been and no doubt will continue to be, given proclivifies have become grooves and grooves have become ruts the size left by slow moving heavy machinery. I don't think I'd be good at quantum stuff. It's like asking elephants to fly.
  7. Cultivation without ideology?

Great post Shen Lung. I don't understand anything about quantum theory however so I can't respond properly to it. Am reading 'Anti-fragile' which seems to get into this systems issue and the 'hand-liver' question. Aside from that, it bashes some people that I'd personally also like to bash for the financial mess. But I digress.
  8. I was mulling over this a lot today. My post was not intended as an argument against guns but as a meditation close to that of Shen Lung's. I have heard of 'catch and release' but I wonder about the point of that. Only fish I have caught and released are those not meeting criteria for killing and eating. I was mulling specifically about this ability to separate one's intent from the 'spirit' of the rod, or gun. I appreciate the sharpness of the distinction between the purpose of a rod (pulling fish out of the water) or a bullet (piercing things) and the idea that one's intent is the determining factor. Part of me feels it's less clear cut than this but all I can point to are cherry-pickings about 'self-defence' shootings. Apech speaks to ideas in a similar way in the 'Cultivation without ideology' thread.
  9. I have a fishing rod and its intent is fish-killing. I can fish the fish out of the water but someone else kills and guts them. And most often cooks them too. I am learning the gutting part before I learn the killing part. Cooking, whatevs. If I had a gun, its intent is killing or injuring. I most definitely include myself in the killing or injuring if I have a gun in my hand -even though till now I have done everything but kill or injure. How do people with guns in their hands see things? Possible they see things in ways that make them wish to take the guns out of people like them's hands.
  10. Movies that make you LOL

  11. I can't speak to the anatomy, but I wonder about your blowtorching things. I'm sure I've suggested him before, but Tao Semko at KAP knows his stuff very well. Might be worth firing off an email. Who knows, he might even do a video about it. I remember there is one answering a question from a guy about adrenal issues.
  12. Happy New Year!

    Happy 2013!
  13. Cultivation without ideology?

Apech, that's a really interesting post. I don't see much of a difference between ideology and philosophy but perhaps there is a huge one. Shen Lung, I'm very curious as to how you decided what was 'wind' vs not Mr GranP, seems Osho was an 'anti' kind of a guy. I read Mr Parsons and I guess this is a misunderstanding on my part due to my own 'structure' (the way this particular locus of consciouness is filtered) but he did make some suggestions that I found of the 'do this' variety and I wondered about that. Taomeow, indeed, the issues you spoke to are exactly what I'm trying to get at. Thankfully my 'dominant' organ is not my brain (jokes welcomeness:-))
  14. Cultivation without ideology?

    That's a great question.
  15. Cultivation without ideology?

Not intent to hurt heads (stop thinking!) When referring to 'vehicles' I'm referring to a set of practices (a 'do this' instruction) which may or may not be accompanied by suggestions to 'think this' or 'look at things this way'. Does that make the questions clearer?
  16. "but I also went into the experience with the intention of having an awakening" Well, there's a very good point. Some people (including myself) don't:-)
  17. Dichotomous ideas about 'spiritual vs 'baser'' aspects of life aren't, I think, a helpful view. Nor is telling someone they will 'never' resolve their present situation, nor is scolding them for being unable at this point to practice 'correct' technique. I would also be interested to hear suggestions for resolving this sort of issue. So far it's been interesting. ---personal opinion alert---
  18. Hobbit Lifestyle

Oh crap. I just read the Daily Mail.
  19. Great stuff Leon! I just read a few pages in but have pulled it off the web for later:-) Congratulations on your views and downloads!
  20. dissociation and healing

    Great! Thanks Mr GranP:-)
  21. dissociation and healing

Well, why do people think there's something wrong with them in the first place? I know that it was because I was told in so many and not so many words.
  22. Cultivation Is Not A Separate Practice

Great post OP. I wanted also to mention the point of knowing oneself in terms of choice of practices. I use Bazi/5E as a sort of a starting point map. Seems (so far) that the most fruitful stuff in terms of practices (and living) fits with whatever 'element' is lacking. It's another reason why some practices are pointless (if not downright harmful) for me and another reason religion with its 'one size fits all' precepts is great for some people but not everyone. ----opinion alert---
  23. dissociation and healing

Just noticed this thread totally dissassociated.
  24. dissociation and healing

Sure. But the Eastern gurus are more apt to go for massive crowd appeal than cash. Or maybe they can get both? When I heard Jed McKenna on youtube saying all that stuff and then mentioning how all these people were making him dinner and looking after his ranch it fair got my goat. But whatever:-)
