I've done my share of bashing on that company but I've found buying ebooks a lot cheaper (not sure about the pollution) than the paper versions. For things I want to keep paper's still it. Plus the DRM and risk of having your 'library' go up in smoke on an e-reader if you mess up an update.

Thanks. Now I feel like an evil sucker.

I didn't know about that one either. What's useless about it?

Specifically metal? Or can we b*tch about the transformation of rap into a vehicle for sexism and violence as well:-)? I quit listening to gangsta rap because it got too sexist. Metal can be cathartic (I guess any music can). I used to listen to what was called 'grunge' and found it reflected my situation quite well. If I start on LOA I won't stop b3tching. If there's obvious 'do-gooding' going on, there's going to be something awful along with it (per ramming dogmatic chorals down an innocent's throat). Here's a song I like, which is not metal exactly

Yes please!

Well, whoever put the Crowley version into this source mentions that it was a mistake on Crowley's part. There's pre-heaven and post-heaven arrangements and (or so I've heard from an interesting mention here on TTB's years ago) another arrangement that refers to a situation other than the 'classic' pre and post heaven. I was wondering if Crowley's was that one.

Reckon it can be done? IMO best attempt at deliberate culture is to bake it in to the systems of belief founding it. If it takes inventing the ultimate and origin stories and holding them up as absolute truths to do so, well as soon as anyone starts to seek proof, things are likely to go poof. TTC as far as I read states that this is a wrong-headed way to go.

Turgid. I'm enjoying reading it. Must mean I'm of turbid mind today:-) No, rather what I enjoy more are his mid-phrase notings of concurrent systems and similarities and references. Given I tend naturally that way (and of course DA BUMZ has fostered it too) I feel quite at home with turgid. I was hoping for some discussion and insights into his hexagram errors.
-
This is great! Reading it now:-) What to make of the footnote saying Crowley got the hexagrams wrong? What if he didn't?
-
Nice! Thanks Mr GranP

That would be great! Must be a pdf of it somewhere. Save the typing.

"Of course one could pose the question, why offer psychiatric help for a spiritual problem, especially if the problem isn't psychiatric in nature?" Where's the line drawn? Back to the old Shen, qi, jing thing:-) http://www.chinese-medicine-works.com/pdfs/chinese_med_and_the_mind.pdf -

Possible he's tailored his discourse to fit current modern issues. Ok, I went through the sample version on Amazon. The practices suggested do actually send out to ancestors and parents. In that they're pretty similar to his usual stuff. However, he's definitely tweaked it. -
I'm interested in what Taomeow says Crowley knew. Suppose that one gets moved to the Hermetic discussion?

This one looks interesting http://www.amazon.com/Reconciliation-Healing-Thich-Nhat-Hanh/dp/1935209647/ref=pd_sim_b_22 I haven't read it but I liked the idea that you'd be taking care of others through taking care of yourself. -
Reshaping the coast? How?

by Clarissa Pinkola Estes In the end, “How does one know if she has forgiven? You tend to feel sorrow over the circumstance instead of rage, you tend to feel sorry for the person rather than angry with him. You tend to have nothing left to say about it all.” Aaron, there's a lot of, for want of a better term, 'misguidance' out there about this stuff. -

Interesting ideas Cat. I'm contemplating my removal as definitive but realise that would mean I miss what I reckon you've suggested as an opportunity for more dancing. I don't know if I'm doing anything to anyone by removing myself. I'm sure they miss the opportunity to continue doing the thing that lead to my removal, but if they're true to form, they'll do it anyway, to whoever. They don't need me for that:-) And, curiously, I don't need their continued presence to self-criticize, berate and talk rubbish at myself either. What a miracle of creation this mind is:-) -

I agree. What the creative thing to do however? Mine is not very creative, it involves removing myself from the situation. Thanks Jetsun for this thread. It's more of 'rubber hits the road' one:-) -

Hmm. I dunno, do you reckon she heard the acknowledgement part? I know that being told to see things from another's POV without acknowledging mine at all has been a big source of suffering for me. So that part (the acknowledging part) I have to add in. It especially helps when the other people don't (or won't) get it. If she's still trying for acknowledgement, that could be it. If she's sort of stuck there for some other reason then I'm not sure what it could be. -

Cat, has anyone acknowledged their lack of awareness and insensitivity to her? I guess that would take aware and sensitive people to do so. -

I've had thoughts like that before. I haven't taken them that seriously. -

Oh, I hadn't realized it was a joke. Haha. I believed for a long time 'This time they'll get it'. Nope. They never have. I didn't bother with the forgiveness (of them) step because they refused to acknowledge there was anything to forgive. So I forgave myself (sometimes I still do). Do I hold on to it still? Probably quite some because so much of it became who I am. But it feels different these days.
