  1. End of relationship...

"Typical crap in women's mind shown in this movie" Hmm, does the movie show the crap or beget the crap? Some scripts get thrown at you, others are literally taught to you from the cradle, often by example. Some get beat into you and some, well, where do you think they come from? Here are just a few things I have been taught about love and being a woman: - Love means compliance and acceptance - Love means dependence - Standing up for myself is unfeminine - Speaking out is unfeminine - My main contribution to the world is children
  2. Mrs Shen

    Bemvenido!
  3. The Power of F*ck It

I guess it does depend on what you really mean. A kind of a giving up, it doesn't matter anyway? A steeling of the will prior to taking a course of action not otherwise taken? Actual surrender (but without the couldn't care less thing which is in fact caring - the negative active rather than passive) A definite decision to remove the offending conditions Fuck it says so much. ----fucking opinion ----
  4. That video posted by Serene Blue does a nice job of it:-) The one with the ex-physicist talking about the absurd conceptual indulgences scientists go into. But it's not just scientists.
  5. The Absolute Present

    And crazy border collie eyes...
  6. "Spirit" - what is it?

Thanks for the clarification. Could you give an example of 'good' and 'bad' as you did for yin and yang? I'm wary of engaging you on the topic of beliefs at this point for I fear we won't agree. I have no idea what the consequences of that would be. I will go and look at Adab to figure whether it is something I already know but with a different name.
  7. "Spirit" - what is it?

It had nothing to do with being forced to believe, as far as I know. The point was I DO laugh about just how much I might possibly come away believing in if I believed all on TTB's. Don't you laugh about beliefs? Not ever? Earth spirits go elsewhere, I'm hearing?
  8. The Absolute Present

Cool:-)! I really enjoyed the second video.
  9. The Absolute Present

I watched that Sheldrake vid earlier, it was very good. Thanks for posting! My ears perked up a couple of times when I figured I'd 'caught' Sheldrake in the act of what sounded like appeals to authority and there was one study he mentioned that I was sure had been 'disproved' since (will have to go through the whole thing again to specify which) but then I figured, really, he's only talking like scientists so often do, perhaps I ought to cut slack because I thought the rest of his talk was great. I laughed at the measuring dept story. I laughed less at the restrictions placed on scientists by their institutions and which they apparently accept in exchange for career. But perhaps getting less so? http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/science/2012/12/is_earth_f_ked_at_2012_agu_meeting_scientists_consider_advocacy_activism.html
  10. Feels like Death -shamatha before bed

Is this the abject terror thing? It's not like a panic attack (which is bad enough but doesn't contain the feeling of certainty of death, 'just' the fear of it).
  11. Anyone here interested in ASMR?

Sort of like the warm fluffies but not as fluffy? Or when you pass your hand over oak? When you get home after a long trip? A bit of yoga often does it for me. Sometimes it just pops out of nowhere.
  12. The Absolute Present

That was interesting. Why don't they title it 'Things we used to think were the case but we were wrong about' rather than 'fallacies'.
  13. "Spirit" - what is it?

Thank you from pointing out your tradition's version of duality and moral accounting. Sometimes TTB's makes me laugh because if I believed everything I read on here I'd have more sprites and angels and 'stuff' hanging around me than I care to imagine. I'd count myself more as an 'Earth' person when it comes to forces and beings and stuff.
  14. "Spirit" - what is it?

    All of them.
  15. "Spirit" - what is it?

    I still find angels creepy.
  16. Well that's what I was thinking. I was thinking of visiting the Vatican one of these days. Lots of very good food, apparently. Where I live, the divorcees just go to swingers clubs. Actually, so do the married people. But they're not very religious here.
  17. It's only the flipside of nirvana, apparently. In other words it exists as both but something or other leads to its flipping. That's as far as I've gotten with understanding these ideas. I could be wrong because I'm not a bhuddist and they have that stuff clearly explained in sutras. Life most certainly has events and not all of them are good nor all bad. Some other poster mentioned a while back that a person could test all this by being conscious of the world when feeling down and being conscious of the world when feeling up and working out what the differences were. I think there's also a danger of misattribution sometimes. That we think our impact on the world or others is more or less than it is. Something I've found helpful is asking myself why I feel hurt. Not to deny I am feeling that way. Some other poster also mentioned acknowledging children somewhere. I found that very good. --- opinion alert---
  18. Osho still reminds me of a border collie. Ever since I first saw him. Anyways, given we no longer require ashrams to frolick in (we're allowed to frolick without a great deal of societal frownage) what would an Osho-brand ashram offer anyone today?
  19. The Absolute Present

I wouldn't worry yerself with me in that respect. I haven't found him yet.
  20. The Absolute Present

"knowledge accumulated through philosophic or scientific learning" But don't philosophers and scientists themselves know that the fruits of their philosophies or their sciences are, for want of a better term, not whatever they're on about? Or to be more specific, not the whole of whatever they're on about? I really thought that neither philosophers nor scientists had as much brawn as to suggest anything they concerned themselves with was more than models or ideas or ideals or hypotheses about reality and not it. But maybe people listening to them listen wrong? If you consider paths, same issues (as far as I can see, which is not awfully far in this respect). Religions as formulae for realization, not themselves realization. It's (as far as I know) why you kill the Bhudda. Why you do it yourself but only once you have found such a person. I can't work out the Xtian formula of Jesus sacrificing himself for us by being killed by others. I mean I could take a stab at it but it doesn't flow as easy for me.
  21. Xtiantidetime Inyourfacetime

And the real people who have been through the whole Mince thing have stopped posting. Personally I gave up about 3 minutes ago. But I disagree as well. Just sayin'
  22. Xtiantidetime Inyourfacetime

The map of Minsk is not the Mince! (knowing sage like smile)
  23. Xtiantidetime Inyourfacetime

Well as long as they leave grandma alone. Otherwise I disagree about the dinosaurs.
  24. Xtiantidetime Inyourfacetime

I disagree that dogs produce cattle! Show me one instance of it! Fossils even. edit: I agree with fossils.
  25. Xtiantidetime Inyourfacetime

MINCE! It's always been mince ever since 3 pages ago. It's written down!!
