"non-local effect" I pick this one:-)

I guess the numbers can't get distorted? The corresponding colours and symbols can, very much so. So what about the magic square was worth sharing across cultures?

Thank you both for your comments:-) Purple nine stuff. I figure that's way out there.

Why man must give up Food and Sex in order to Evolve
Birch replied to tulku's topic in General Discussion
Tulku. Do you mind? All I read was the title of your post. Is that enough? IMO/IME No-one "must" do anything or not do anything. Please take care of yourself before attempting anything ressembling advice or consul to anyone else. I realise the above is hypocritical but I really get annoyed when people try to get other people to do stuff that hasn't even worked for them. Religions get made out of that stuff. ----opinion---alert--etc -
"The Celts originally came from Ukraine." Well that would explain a lot! Thank you genetic-cultural explainer! ---- Anyway to get back to the topic. I don't know what mine is much anymore (except for the Ukraine thing, when I'd been told it was from the Arctic) - when does it change and how, if you move around a lot? ----

I saw a bloke in a bowler just the other day. He knew I knew what his hat was (we 'looked') but I walked on by speedily on the platform. NOT EVEN IN ENGLAND it was.

I don't know but it feels like "differential" between current psycho/spiritual/consciouness (not doing well with the terms).

Porn-Brain Study: Erotic Movies Make Brain Regions 'Shut Down'
Birch replied to DalTheJigsaw123's topic in General Discussion
The point of PORN is that it's something you will (likely) never have. That's the 'PORN' part (hence 'appartment-porn', 'time-porn', any of those '...-porn' ideas). It's supposed to be FANTASY. Otherwise it's not porn, it's just "not you having sex" (unless you're extremely enlightened in which case it's you having sex all the time:-)). Any, if you are having sex PORN probably intereferes with how good you think it is or if you're not, just reinforces that you're not. --- opinion etc--- Edit: I wonder what pornstars' porn is -

'When you raise your vibrations, what are you actually doing?' 1- No idea 2 - I heard 'higher' = 'better' (hahahaha;-)) 3 - Personally, I can't raise anything, except a laugh here and there :-) (or ) -

I don't want to. Plus, to articulate anything as Taoist or Bhuddist requires I have a better understanding of both than I currently do. "Postsecret" is an awesome website for hidden 'everyday' things:-)

There's some agreement from me on this one Jetsun. What I do think meditation does is bring things to light (or consciousness if you prefer). So previously I felt like shit but didn't know the cause and did all kinds of other shit to compensate for the shit I didn't know the cause of. Now I just feel like shit AND I know why. However, I'm not going to beat anyone (including myself) up about it, as it tends to perpetuate shit. I'm not sure about the creation of another layer of ego thing. My experience tells me that it's not a layer,it's the nature of the thing, or I just uncovered more, whatever. The 'religious ego' is IMO/IME the one that will get this stuff on its own terms and play it. I was a "good" child, I'm perfectly capable of acting normal or enlightened if I have to:-)

True. So why all the breathing techniques? What is each one for and what are its limits, and who for? During one of my (now passed) phases where panic was a regular visitor, breathing technique really helped. Getting breathing under some semblance of consciouness CAN really help. What I'm presently learning is that same can be done for other things for very similar reasons that one might wish to get one's breathing conscious. Not that I'm particularly good at the latter, but at least breathing is an 'easy win', I mean you can tell the difference when you do it. Oh yeah, plus one doesn't (although I'm sure I'm wrong) have quite as much attachment to ways of breathing as of thinking.

Cancer-killing dandelion tea gets $157K research grant

Boiled some up just this afternoon. Bought from chinese store in a brown paper bag. Tastes more or less alright. My acupuncturist suggested it. -
Something to help get rid of anything that is no longer necessary. I've understood people can't do this by themselves. I don't know if they used to be able to. So, I guess, practices. Something that helps one bring consciouness anywhere, to anything. Sometimes I think this involves making people strong. Sometimes weak but always discerning. Something that helps you get out of what you thought was yourself. Something that helps you withstand what you find in yourself ---opinion --- etc

Thanks Snowmonki for taking time and effort to type all that out. I have planned to read it tomorrow morning:-) I will have a look about this French problem.

I was pondering this seeing thing. IME eyes go out to grab things. Closing them still lets them grab. Offering only one thing to them to grab, haven't tried it. I'm a bit of a sensual animal :-) I should point out the 'grabbing' thing is an actual feeling. Like something reaching out from your eyes to get whatever's there. And I should add that closing eyes at some point in meditation has resolved to them being able to see 'as if they were open anyway' so I'm not entirely sure wtf is up with that either. I had concluded a while back that 'non-local consciouness' was the only conclusion. But maybe there are others.

Are all the contents of awareness intentional?
Birch replied to goldisheavy's topic in General Discussion
Interesting, I was just mentionng this in another thread. In meditation the other day, i realised there was kind of a 'background noise' of unintelligible sounds. At one point I began to recognise words coming out of it (I was just choosing to pick some things out and then others) and then actual sentences. When I realised what I was doing I stopped and let it become garbled again and fade into nothing I could hear any more. I guess previously I might have let the sentences become actual things to think about. Anyway, it's one thing to do this in meditation, quite another the rest of the time. And I don't always do it the rest of the time. I'm too lazy I think. -
Really interesting, thanks Snomonki! I also have the Maggie Wahls book. I really enjoyed it. There's also a couple by Matthew Wood, which are more about herbalism but which I found treated in a way that revealed the relationships of the healers to the plants. Also interested in the 2 other installments of Joseph Wilson.
