  1. Spirituality and Religion

I think it's not doing very well as a cult. No fast cars or hot sex or large amounts of money and power changing hands. Is there? Maybe I'm just not in on the 'inner' circle.
  2. Bone Healing

Yeah, I said the book paints a picture of a 'slightly' more accepting medical profession. Aside from the idea that I suspect few doctors would appreciate a patient striding in there and demanding a specific medication/technique (try it with anything:-) they're still not particularly co-operative with 'patients' IMO/IME,) I did think the book made a pretty good case for medical/nurses' associations etc making use of 'alternative' techniques, including qi-gong and others. And since much of the time those are the people who are actually doing stuff with patients, not the guys (or girls) in the offices, or who see folks on a drive-by 5 minute round, right:-)? So what if getting the research money requires you capitulate initially that qi-projection is a 'mind-body' technique and then the research shows (your criteria sounded great) that it is not but works regardless? That would still be a very valid research outcome. Or am I missing something in the reluctance to try? While in the meantime, all kinds of huge amounts of money is being spent on insane machinery like FMRI, EEG (hahahaha) and staging techniques like 'patient dialogue' - imagine that, you have to teach doctors how to dialogue with patients
  3. Bone Healing

I reckon it might be easier to get funding for good research if you call it in as mind-body medecine and then, well, if it turns out it's something else, that's a result too, right? I put the book in because the picture it paints is of a slightly more accepting medical profession(s). It's also interesting in that the author talks about inadequate methodology in the qi-gong research etc. There's also some stuff on energy fields which I would be hard pushed to categorize as "either" mind or body. I reckon a better understanding of the continuums and interactions between all of them would be helpful.
  4. It's either just all part of the fun that self-realized entities get up to in their spare time, a bit of an ego tiff where they're using each other to saw off the remaining bits (like the black knight) or, could it be that this self-realization thing is just another impossible thing about which humans like to argue but is probably never attainable by a person. Given what it's supposed to be and what a person is. Does it matter? I suppose it might if the idea is to lead people or something. Why fight to have yourself recognized as self-realized? It's pretty interesting to read though.
  5. Do Ya'll guys drink?

Gerard, that's bad news for me. I'm strictly lay with no intent to go mountain-cave-dwelling until perhaps my very old age! Should I reverse so I can eat the stuff here? Can I reverse? Should be easy enough, right?
  6. Bone Healing

Hi Ya Mu! i thought of you while reading this earlier today http://www.amazon.com/Energy-Psychology-Self-Healing-Practices-Bodymind/dp/1556437242/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1327885401&sr=1-2 Not because the book itself is the last word on anything (in fact it seems to waffle quite some) but because it makes lots of references to various researchers and studies in the field. i thought it was worth checking out for that.
  7. Concept associations

Unexpected Mr C_Dragon "Yes" What? ---you know you want to but it's a bit complicated. Come back when you're done translating the SOTGF --------
  8. Concept associations

Hmm, suppose that's one way of looking at it. Very interesting. Did I say i sometimes also consumed trash? In this case it would be media. I had a lockdown on movies or music of any kind for about a year. The upshot is I got re-sensitized. Doesn't feel great in our present conundrum. So i guess my question is about the library of the real :-)
  9. Do Ya'll guys drink?

Interesting story thanks! Some days I just don't know what to eat so I end up half-heartedly choosing something. Sometimes I will crave the worst trash, other times, has to be something very very simple. Just one thing. It's getting annoying. I look forward to tolerance:-)
  10. Mental Connections

I liked SIME's post on this one. At some point, the explanation requires a distinct shift in POV of reality. Many explanations are self-referential. I guess that works to satisfaction to a point. I'd actually prefer if that's all it was, coincidental, self-referential, self-driven, I made it happen. Notice anything? The experiences require a 'we' at the very least. That one even by itself is a biggie I reckon. What does it mean? How far does it go? Hmm. Still unsure myself.
  11. Do Ya'll guys drink?

Bingo! Same here. Anyone know how/why this happens? Taomeow mentioned increasing tolerance. I don't think I'm anywhere near it, although I've gotten a lot better around trashy social energy.
  12. Flexing your Pineal Gland

Good stuff Trunk! Thanks for this.
  13. I think anything held up as an ideal or a dissuasion is intended to have its effect now. What I notice is a difference between circular ideas of incarnation and reincarnation and linear ones. Or then there are multiverse ones. Or the roles of ancestors upon the living. Any of these might be the case. How they'd each be the case would require digging into multiple threads of influence because I don't think they all happen in the same way. Clear as mud:-)
  14. The Dao De Jhing is a shamanistic treatise

Moving within. Making the non-visible, visible. Feeling the edges of truth vs lies and knowing how and why any of this is done. That's TTC for me. Shamanism, can't talk to it quite as much. I think it happens all the time, for good or for ill (see above).
  15. I was thinking about this sort of thing this morning. To get where the world exists to serve you and your purposes - and not the other way around (where you serve the world's purposes). What is valued is not always what is paid for. In fact, I'd throw it a contrary line and suggest that what is paid for is to keep value away and down. ---random opinion alert----
  16. I can't don't want something we have already Mr Apech. So what's next ?
  17. My New Year Cleanse and Fitness Routine

First thing I dared read on this thread was your last post. You mentioned "bowels" and I didn't feel like going back to the start of the thread. Does it mention a relationship between gut health and mental/emotional health? You know 'second brain' (hint, everything is another 'brain' now )
  18. About the nature of non existence.

I have a question. Does it matter so much what Brahman is defined as? Why? I was thinking, if you're looking for a 'non-dual' definition then, well, there you go. Sorry, that's as clear as mud. So you have to define it by saying what it isn't and then wait for people to get it. People can get stuff like this, I insist they can! If everyone stops getting in each other's way with it and arguing the toss forever because whatever it is, it's already here. I think a problem is that the road to getting it is paved with other people that think they've got it and then tell everyone else or worse, force them to believe what they think they've 'got'. I'm wondering what makes people 'not get it'. Just saying. I don't think I've got it either but I sort of think I understand sometimes. And not the rest of the time. It's a thought-impediment I have.
  19. Total Rejuvenation

Wow, that's cool! I agree with Cameron. Besides, any of the above things can be 'meditation' IMO/IME
  20. From Qigong to Religion

Badabing, badaboom. And then what will become of society and civilization ??? Can't have all those masses of people realizing their own divinity. However much they (didn't) think they (didn't) believe in 'God out there' in the 1st place.
  21. Total Rejuvenation

'Scream the whole day without getting tired" Yeah, how do they do that???
  22. Total Rejuvenation

Nope, that's not how it goes. You let go of the fake striving and motivations that are driving you. Then other stuff kicks in that is from you, really you. But it ain't easy. Or it is and no-one really wants to. I'm sticking with "it ain't easy". It's why there's an entire forum of people doing it. Not sure how many couch-sitters there are here:-)
  23. The Heart Sutra

Love is inside duality, but until you've been away, you don't realise how good it is to be back :-)
  24. Michael Winn's Wedding

    Congratulations Cameron!
