  1. Matter or consciousness?

The gods IMO are phenomena as much as anything else. Unfortunately what can happen with them is they can gain autonomy from their creator and start appearing to others.
  2. shaktipat

I'll add Steve to the list of folks patting the Shakti!
  3. Returning to the way after enlightenment

Seems the stones are talking after all Mr MH:-)
  4. http://www.amazon.com/Brandwashed-Tricks-Companies-Manipulate-Persuade/dp/0385531737 It's not the kind of stuff most people are interested in IMO/IME. And they're not educated about it either.
  5. Returning to the way after enlightenment

That's pretty dangerous! And probably closer to both the truth and the present reasons for our terrible circumstances than you think!
  6. Matter or consciousness?

Well Mr MH, you wouldn't in that case ("banging") be very very far from some traditions :-) Sometimes it's expressed with a bit more symbolism (I was guessing it was because they didn't want the kids finding out what they were on about too soon:-)). Anyway, more seriously, again is found attribution. IMO. Basically I'd love to get the rock's perspective. Might get us somewhere:-)
  7. Returning to the way after enlightenment

Ur Db, it was sort of what i was getting at in my post. Nevermind, seems I'm not always very articulate. To your question about the right tai-chi teacher. I think there is a difference between gymnasts and "sorted" (sorry, that just came to min d:-)) Besides, my tendons care whether I'm doing it wrong or not (monkey see, monkey do still!) Plus it would be fun fur heavens sakes.
  8. Matter or consciousness?

Who are "we"? Edit: I didn't mean anything esoteric nor rhetorical. I meant along the lines of "just me and my friends" or maybe an impersonal "we" y'know
  9. shaktipat

Interesting! Maybe I ought to try. Athough I've gotten a bit overconcerned about this stuff and I don't know if it would be a good idea. Actually, that would be interesting to discuss. Why and when and why not get shaktipat. I'd say for the "why not" idea that it might be too much to handle all at once.
  10. The path is not easy.

[quot' date=16 November 2011 - 01:05 PM' timestamp='1321477510' post='304677] Hmmm, in the larger perspective yeah, but it can easily take ten years or more before she does learn. So you need to ensure she changes NOW. You absolutely don`t need to make her change so she will be neat and tidy if she lives with others just make sure she feels it necessary enough to be neat and tidy when living with you out of respect for you and out of fear of the consequences of not showing you that respect because then she will (should at least) loose you. If you don`t ensure you get respected in this regard it is a massive demonstration of lack of self respect and lower value on your part and that strongly diminishes her attraction for you as a man. If on the other hand you do stand up for yourself you demonstrate self respect and high value and thus increase her attraction to you even though she will bitch and complain in the begining. If in addition to standing up to yourself you make her change herself to the better you are also increasing her attraction to you because a man that can make a woman change herself for him in any sort of way by itself is attractive. I don`t think telling her you will leave if she does not change is a good idea. Ultimatums are a last resort. Rather demonstrate it by withdrawing attention gradually and let her understand that it is a result of her bad behavior but do not tell that explicitly. Again, read arround at marriedmansexlife.com or buy the book. It has advice for situations like that. Thank you for the website/book references. I found your idea of her being taught pretty creepy.. Is that what you meant? I don't think the OP has any role beyond looking after his (or her) own boundaries/respect. IMO creeping over that into " teaching" one's spouse is what I'd call overkill. The girl may or may not learn after the OP stands up for him or herself. And?
  11. Matter or consciousness?

When was the universe in a state of singularity? And how do you know? I'm not trying to be an idiot, I know i am one. I know that singularity has been posited. Has it been proved? Did i get up too late this century?
  12. Returning to the way after enlightenment

My take is that "enlightenment" consists in realizing how far away from the way your thinking and your actions were. But I'm not enlightened, I'm just, well, y'know:-) A person. I plan to take up tai-chi soon. Now very worried about finding the right teacher.
  13. Matter or consciousness?

There's a statute for that? I was going to suggest the stuff growing on the rocks wouldn't be great for the pond.
  14. Matter or consciousness?

    Ok then. Thank you!
  15. Matter or consciousness?

My spelling is getting worser and worser! Yep, looks like a decent enough dude. Should i be off hunting online for stories about secret-society membership and decadence? Sort of OT, I was pondering secret-societies the other day and i figured that if i did something really strange, at some point someone would be able to point to my activities as a TTB and suggest conspiracy:-). Right, back to the rocks and consciousness. It ain't for naught they call this "the hard question" :-)
  16. Matter or consciousness?

Good post Apech:-) Hmm, why is it when I explain the same thing questions of kitchen experiments come up and when Feynman does it with a diagram he gets kudos:-) Nah, not important, I didn't do the math/physics work and Feynman sounds like a non-pathalogical human:-) Edit. More typos
  17. Matter or consciousness?

Just so you know, the rock is my grandmother in 5E so no throwing:-p
  18. Matter or consciousness?

The usual thing i think the D.O. folks would say is that it's a mutual giving. I've pondered this one a while and come up with the idea that the rock is within my consciouness so by that it is "consciousness" itself. It became part of my consciouness and became consciouness because of the act of seeing. Then we get into the misattribution issue. I think logic "works" in this one because of the nature of logic, not because of reality. So you could agree to the argument logically but it wouldn't have any basis in reality (or the order would be "wrong"). But since "order" is a linear function and reality obviously isn't then that argument would get shot as well. I think, I think I'm rambling a bit, sorry!
  19. Matter or consciousness?

Esoteric much? Hmm, I bother throwing stones because I am patently unfavourable towards religion of any kind yet I have a set of experiences in meditation that I've found a bunch of people to talk through with. Yes, the monotheisms point at such things but we a) know that ain't it know that some of them have led to heinous acts in the real world over millenia c) approach tentatively that despite the trappings there may still be "some truth" that can be found via them if you start thinking (or practicing) I also listen to rocks:-)
  20. Matter or consciousness?

That's ok Steve:-) At least you didn't tell me my issue with your post was on account of my ego and my subconscious subtly attracting my flawed personality into a moment ripe for resolution but doomed to repeat or something:-) You're not actually worried about this stuff, are you?..
  21. Matter or consciousness?

Does this D.O? Sure, fine for those chairs and leaves huh. Edit. Media fiddling
  22. Matter or consciousness?

"But no one can ever cause anyone else or themselves to feel the oneness, it is either felt or not." which is why preaching it is not welcome IMO/IME:-)
  23. Matter or consciousness?

You've forgotten the brain in the human gut too. Crystals, remember crystal radios? I don't but my dad had one. Maybe i should make one from scratch... Typo...many
  24. Matter or consciousness?

Easy! Get a bunch of sentient stuff, pour on conditions for cooperation/symbiosis. Make conditions a bit iffy (require better connections) and there you go. Consciouness arises as a necessity. Or as an experiment. Experiment screws up so it stops and then restarts. Sounds silly. BTW, no implication of any "mover" doing this stuff.
  25. Matter or consciousness?

If you say "D.O" I will leave the universe!
