  5. Recommended autobiographical/non fiction books

'The Wheel of Life' is a classic spiritual autobiography that I re-read every few years. You will enjoy it! Yogananda's 'Autobiography of a Yogi' is essential reading. Check out Irina Tweedie's 'A Daughter of Fire: A Diary of a Spiritual Training With a Sufi Master'.
  6. Are herbs going to become illegal in Europe?

Lovely, just lovely. Portends bad things for the rest of the world as well. What time does the revolution begin? Count me in.
  7. Water Method imagery

Those are really nice videos, thanks SF Jane. Paul, I would he's got a whole lot better idea about lao than you do, and it's not from books. How do you know he was 'eating like a pig'? Sounds like you have something against Mr Frantzis, no? Jealousy? Envy? Projection?

  9. Scared about my heart

It's his freakin' heart, you silly man. He should see a cardiologist. Being a fundamentalist TCM'er, how would you tell if he had a lethal problem with arrhythmia? Even young athletes die of Sudden Cardiac Death. Are you prepared to diagnose and treat that?
  10. Scared about my heart

    Cardiologist. Only.
  11. Scared about my heart

I had the exact same thing many years ago, and was really scared and conscious of my heartbeat at all times, wondering if something was wrong. Nothing was, but I went and saw a cardiologist to get cleared, and literally as soon as my mind was eased, it all went away. Go see a cardiologist. I'm sure you're ok, but you won't be at ease until they reassure you. I'll bet that's all you will need to do. If you want to do more, do the TCM and energetic stuff after the cardiologist has said ok. If you don't see the heart doc, there will be some doubt at the back of your mind no matter what you do.
  12. A quote to ponder on

"By the shores of Gitche Gumee, By the shining Big-Sea-Water, Stood the wigwam of Nokomis, Daughter of the Moon, Nokomis. Dark behind it rose the forest, Rose the black and gloomy pine-trees, Rose the firs with cones upon them; Bright before it beat the water, Beat the clear and sunny water, Beat the shining Big-Sea-Water."
  13. There's not a whole lot to it. Read his books, and watch the videos. They are even on YouTube, so there is no excuse. The main thing is to stand Zhan Zhuang every day, slowly increasing your time standing. A good teacher can correct your posture. You don't need a master to learn it, it's not like many other things. Since you're near London, go see Lam Kam Chuen for acupuncture in his clinic, he can correct your stance if you ask him. Otherwise, begin and perhaps work with the practitioner near you. Just do it.

Vortex, there are many, many deeply compassionate people living in ghettos. They way outnumber the gangstas. Many proud and courageous men and women are making the best out of life with despite awful circumstances. So you think all people living in poverty are all the same? Why is it "liberal mythology" to see the good side of life in the ghetto? In my job, I often go into people's homes in every part of my county, and I can't tell you how many very clean and orderly homes filled with loving, proud people are caring for sick or dying family members. From the outside, the bad neighborhood with run down houses hide the lives of the people inside. You really find amazing things if you are open. You seem to judge poor people as a group rather harshly. And since when is seeing beyond the violence and the squalor "liberal mythology"?
  17. I'm no longer afraid to die.

That's just your opinion and what is right for you. Reading can help a lot, and of course leads to practices if the shift is enough. Whatever the messenger, the message is what counts. Reading a book can lead to a whole paradigm shift, just as reading Yoganada's 'Autobiography of a Yogi' initiated a deeply felt shift in me in my early twenties and started me on a spiritual search that continues to this day. Thanks for posting this, SeththeWhite. I found it very helpful, and I will get ahold of this book.

You seem to be betting on developing energetic attainments and powers as your path of the Wheel of Rebirth. You actually scoff at spiritual paths that offer real spiritual development, which as a consequence makes one a better human being. I wonder why you think you are here on Earth and subject to the Life here you detest so much. So, why are we all subject to rebirth? Is it possible we are here to learn lessons? In real transcendence, one actually transcends life here on earth. You simply are desperate to escape the abhorrent circumstances that come with living in a body on the physical plane and having anything to do with the fellow human beings who disgust you so much. I point out that you are not after transcendence, but escape. And the rules of rebirth are such that you will not be allowed to escape until you no longer seek it, and are able to love life fully and feel love and compassion for your fellow beings. A transcended being can live in the most extreme negative environment, a slum in Mumbai or in Mexico City, and remain radiant, loving and blissful. Feeling life's pain and the pain of others and transcending it. Sorry to inform you of this. One does not get to escape even if you can travel OBE, heal people, or light things on fire with just the chi in your hands, if you are still attached to your revulsion at being alive. So to put down 'meditating', or Buddhism as so much wimpy trollop without remaining open to the possibility that transcendence and enlightenment has nothing necessarily to do with magic siddhis and powers, is utter folly. And someone who believes as you do, that rejects everything about the circumstances of being alive, neglects to see that this is precisely the reason you are here.

  20. alien religions?

OK, I've been trying not to get into it with V, but obviously I failed. I'll let him have the last word.
  21. alien religions?

  Your faulty arguments are not my projections of you, they are pointing out the flaws in your debates. Instead of admitting you are wrong, you always claim to be "mis-interpreted". You're all over the map with your thinking and New Age scientific understanding.
  22. alien religions?

No, even if they had different structures, you say they are humanoid. You linked to photos of giant human skeletons. The structure would have to be vastly different and non-humanoid to be viable. You still didn't read that link. It's basic physics, man. Vajra, you seem to have some notion that because you have a vision of something, then it has Universal Truth. Your visions and remembrances don't really prove anything, and you can't generalize your visions to "prove" what you are saying. They only have meaning for you. So your 'memories' of being a 30 foot or 12 foot giant constructing the Pyramids is dream or imagination, or a different Universe or alternate reality, but not this one. You can't have a human form and be that large. Period. Out of bounds has nothing to do with my ego, it has to do with your faulty arguments, pseudo-scientific notions, or assertions of superiority and possession of the 'Truth'. Wow...what an ego!
  23. alien religions?

Not every thread. Just when you are out of bounds. You can ignore us, y'know. Maybe that's the lesson here? And yes, astro-physicists know exactly how the Earth was spinning around the Sun many thousands and even millions of years ago. But that would be Science, which is 5 sensory reality, something you have shown disdain for. A 12 foot human would weigh 1600 lbs and be too weak to walk. Did you read the article I linked to? You seem to believe that Science is something negotiable with your visions. Is it attacking someone to say that this is not Science? You seem to have a New Ager's concept of how Science works and it's descriptions of reality. Or am I supposed to ignore your fanciful assertions?
  24. alien religions?

No. Any dummy that has taken high school physics knows that the gravity has to do with the force with which objects of mass attract one another. That is why the Moon affects the tides on Earth, has nothing to do with atmosphere! Does anyone here have any kind of brain for basic science? I thought you said you admitted it when you were wrong!!! yes, you are obviously still attached to lots of things!
