  2. Is a buddha basically god?

Dude, you have no idea what my reality is like...none. There you go again, making assumptions about people.
  3. Is a buddha basically god?

Ha! You should be flattered...hey, Vajra..your shoe's untied...... Made ya look! But seriously, somebody's gotta keep ya honest. And it's TheSongsofdistantEarth. Plus, I only use sarcasm sometimes, which you yourself do. Otherwise, I use humor, or call you on some of the B.S. you sometimes let loose with... Hey, Good Times....

  7. Why Taoism is different

I don't think so. There's a lot of words that he posts, but precious little wisdom. I'm sorry, but just because someone has had (or claims to have had) his buns on a zafu for any period of time does not make him a 'pro'. Nor does the particular guru or Rinpoche he follows automatically accord him any merit. I actually think that being born into, and living in Hindu Guru World for his many years gave rise to a sense of superiority and gave him blind spots that he doesn't even know exist, and even thinks that he doesn't have them (e.g., his egotism). An essential part of any spiritual path consists of diminishing the ego. V is oblivious to the size of his ego. He loves to toot his own horn and drop all the mystical experiences and years of spiritual solitude, etc., which I think are exaggerated (but of course don't know for sure). It's the reason he's run crosswise to so many of the members of this forum. I don't find much wisdom in his posts, rather, I find someone who wants to show off he knows all these abstruse spiritual concepts and can hold forth like a philosopher. Personally, I wouldn't ask nor take his advice on any spiritual matter. He may be a pro 'seeker', but that does not make him a master of anything.

  9. Ego Inflation - aka Secret Narcissism

Actually, the most frequent cause of abdominal fat accumulation in middle age and beyond is Metabolic Syndrome also known as Syndrome X or insulin resistance. The fat is often intra-abdominal, that is, exists in the abdominal cavity around the organs. This often gives rise to the skinny arms, legs and butt with a big belly look. There is a lot one can do proactively with Integrative or Alternative modalities to address this.
  10. Any outdoorsmen (or women) here?

Frodo Lives!! Nature and the outdoors really go with Taoist and energetic practices. Doing Zhan-Zhuang on a boulder, especially a very large one, is a very different and wonderful energetic experience. Also, extended time spent in the outdoors is essential. 5-7 days or more away from "civilization" = sanity, while life in society = insanity.
  11. Breathing and Attention-Span

I did the underwater breath-holding practice that Wenger recommends one summer about 5 years ago, very faithfully, every day, would dive down to the bottom of a swimming pool and hang onto a heavy rock I had placed at the bottom for increasing amounts of time, and...alas, was not able to subjectively say that anything changed. Maybe others have had different experiences?
  12. Why Taoism is different

This is not an attack, nor sarcasm. You offered up that you sometimes post after having a few beers. I, and others find that often, though not always, your writings are run-on and unclear. For example, see earlier in this thread, when SereneBlue was able to clarify what you wrote. If you could write it clearly like that, it would have been understood by all. I also find your forum behavior boorish--directly or indirectly touting your brand of Buddhism-- and perhaps the alcohol explains that as well. It's very hard for me to understand what allure alcohol would have when one has realized the heights of meditative experience such as you have. Please search for my postings and read them if you think that all I ever post is sarcasm. You only know me from my responses in the threads you post in. Your inability to understand me says more about you, in my opinion, than it does about me. It's good that you "try to stay away from" getting drunk. And if it only takes one beer to loosen your "personal information security options", then perhaps drinking and forum participation is not such a good idea?
  13. Why Taoism is different

That's an interesting revelation. No judgement here, but I'm actually surprised someone with your spiritual and meditative attainments still has the desire to indulge in "a few beers" with any frequency and then go online and post in forums. Perhaps a partial explanation of why your postings are so incoherent/inscrutable to others?
  14. I am the video guy

Fantabulous! We could use more non-dualiosity here at the 'bums! Welcome!

  20. Erection problem

25 was about the age I discovered I could no longer have 'unconnected' sex. I had an encounter with woman who had a sex drive like a guy's a Ferrari Playboy model type body. She wanted to go for it, we went to my place and...nada. I soon learned that I needed to have some sort of real connection, though not necessarily 'love', in order to have sex. Otherwise I could not perform, or it felt like shit afterward. That feeling has continued, so that I am not able to have casual or promiscuous sex, not because of any moral decisions about it, but because my higher self refuses to let me squander something precious into a meaningless encounter. It's been about 5 years now that I quit looking at any internet porn whatsoever. The vibe was disgusting, the people seemed pretty disgusting. What did it for me was seeing some young incredibly fresh girl on one site, then seeing her again about a year later on the same site. She must have been on drugs for awhile, because she was once fine, and now it was like looking at a dead person...all vitality gone. She looked like a ghoul. She was probably 20. I want no part of that kind of energy. I finally got to the age and spiritual maturity, thankfully, that pepe' doesn't control me. I can willfully choose when to be sexual, and I have chosen not to partake many a time, and thankfully, because the consequences of blending my energies with someone or getting into a situation or pregnancy, etc., far outweighed momentary pleasure.
  21. Ego Inflation - aka Secret Narcissism

    Wow. Just...wow.
  22. Ego Inflation - aka Secret Narcissism

Um...can someone explain to me what this means?
  23. Mind if I invite some people to our forum?

I say let people find this forum on their own, actively inviting or recruiting large groups of people will tend to diffuse the intention of the forum. It's plenty big already.
  24. Cash-strapped sell their kidneys to pay off debts

Hmmm, Eternal Student. It seems to me that this is a belief you can indulge or not. Do you know for sure that your jing is diminished because of your grandparents, were you told this by a practitioner, or is a tenet of TCM?
  25. Bronnikov Method

The introductory video on that site states within the first minute, is that the Bronnikov Method is a "closed door Tibetan system, and it usually takes 20-30 years to learn", (ooh, closed door! now I really want in!) but they have discovered that you master the basics in the 12 days to 6 months...very suspect. Why is everything new always some lost Tibetan teaching? If Tibetans were so powerful, how come they lost their country to the Chinese? This Bronnikov thing might be valid, but my B.S. detector just went off... later edit: this Neurovision Academy really reeks of bogusness to me, based on their website. My guess is that its like another 'Matrix Energetics' kind of thing, where it sounds all miraculous and easy up front, but you never meet anyone who can do it like the originator. And this "extreme ancient Tibetan secrets revealed!" yeah, right. I dunno, I'd be interested in hearing back from you daisyduke, in a year to see (ha ha)what you have to say. I've seen things of this kind come and go.
