Agree 100%. Maybe we should stop engaging them and not respond to any of their posts since it's like a broken record, anyway. Eventually they'll go away. . Yessiree. They have airtight closed minds and add nothing to any discussion.

La petite mort From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia La petite mort, French for "the little death", is a metaphor for orgasm. More widely, it can refer to the spiritual release that comes with orgasm, or a short period of melancholy or transcendence, as a result of the expenditure of the "life force". Literary critic Roland Barthes spoke of la petite mort as the chief objective of reading literature. He metaphorically used the concept to describe the feeling one should get when experiencing any great literature. A recent study of brain activation patterns using Positron Emission Tomography (PET) give some support to the experience of a small death: "To some degree, the present results seem to be in accordance with this notion, because female orgasm is associated with decreased blood flow in the orbitofrontal cortex, a part of the brain that is crucial for behavioural control."[1] The term 'la petite mort' or 'the small death' does not always apply to sexual experiences. It can also be used when some undesired thing has happened to a person and has affected them so much that 'a part of them dies inside'. A literary example of this is found in Thomas Hardy's 'Tess of the D'Urbervilles' when he uses the phrase to describe how Tess feels after she comes across a particularly gruesome omen and meeting with her own rapist. 'La petite mort' has been referenced in other art forms as well. In 1993 Jake and Dinos Chapman created a piece called 'Little Death Machine (Castrated)'. The sculpture is part of an installation at the Tate Britain gallery in London, which explores some of the overtly sexual views of the Surrealist movement. Surrealists such as Salvador Dali explored the links between sex and death through their art.

  8. My Pledge to the TaoBums

I hereby pledge never to use, utter, think, or write the word 'reify', (reification, reifying, reifier, etc.)... I firmly believe this word to be a cunning and dangerous Trojan mind virus, instantly brain-numbing any who use it or encounter it, placing all around into a stupor, and creating egocentric delusions of grandeur, false wisdom and illusions of actual spiritual attainment when in fact, it does just the opposite. Unfortunately, undoubtedly, I will probably still encounter it here in this forum, and in anticipation of that, I clutch tightly this ancient and powerful Taoist amulet to ward off the evil. Signed, Sifu Percy J. Dovetonsils Ancient Order of The Brotherhood of the Here and Now P.S., to see for yourself the damage that that word can do, do a search on this forum for 'reify' and 'reifying'...but I cannot be held responsible if you are left a jabbering idiot for the next few days. Don't say I didn't warn you!!! .
  9. Of Buddhists and Taoists

Mik, you seem like you're learning. V, he's here to prove to himself and us that he's right, and the best way is Vajrayana and Dogzchin. OK, don't stroke out. Read some of my posts on other threads, whydontchoo? V has the zeal of the converted fundamentalist... thats cool. He lectures, doesn't learn, that's cool. So, to switch the subject, what kind of daily practices do you guys honestly do? You are on the internet forums around the clock. How is that compatible with a deep spiritual life? .
  11. Should a Taoist Forum focus primarily on Taoism?

Violence?? So why are you here instead of e-sangha? What is your perception as to why this particular thread exists? Read my other postings on other threads? My comments are not personal, but merely a response to what you yourself post. No anger, no hatred. Yes annoyance and irritation. Ah, it's good to be alive!!!
  18. Should a Taoist Forum focus primarily on Taoism?

jaKe, you're new here. The controversy is not about Buddhism per se, but about the appearance 3 months ago here of an e-sangha cast-off who has posted nearly 1,000 times on esoteric Buddhism in most every thread he encounters. Lonnng posts. It's called thread hijacking. It's annoying because a lot of threads he participates in which have nothing to do with Buddhism get bogged down and die, so he jumps to the next thread with the same irritating pontificating, pointlessly making endless points. We can't figure out why he's here on TaoBums, except that he gets to be a big, important Buddhist authority in a smaller pond, and he doesn't take the many hints that he's annoying and exasperating as hell to many members, except that he is a "realized being" and we should be so lucky to receive the dharma from him. {from the What the Self is (and is Not) thread}: QUOTE(Vajrahridaya @ Aug 19 2009, 09:57 PM) * "Highly realized Buddhists of which there have been more than highly realized Hindu's seem to do just fine without an ultimate Self of all. We still manifest deep compassion, and unconditional love." .

  25. Should a Taoist Forum focus primarily on Taoism?

If they wish to endlessly discuss the finer, more esoteric aspects of Buddhist philosophy/dharma, etc., why do they not have their discussions on e-sangha? Why drag endless technical Buddhism into nearly every thread they get involved in and basically kill any lively discussion? (see 'Chicken or the Egg' thread for a good example of why many of us are so annoyed and increasingly disgusted with the Boorish Buddhists). .
