  1. Dr Martens For Life Guarantee

Can you give any examples of other good lifetime warranties? I have a Zippo lighter. They replace the insides of their lighters for the cost of postage, no questions asked. Very good. They don't warranty the hinges or outside case but so far I've been lucky there.
  2. Star Wars advice

Don't forget my favorite Mr "Feel...don't think" ie. Qui-Gon Jinn I aspire to be like Qui-Gon when I'm older. Starwars = Taoism or other estern religions and training methods is a very common view and fun too research. I had not read the above link before. Star Wars was apparently written as a portrayal of the training methods, the way of life, and the philosophy of Taoist Chi kung training (I wasn't specifically searching for that link above but it's written by a sometime TTB Steve aka Starjumper7)
  3. Dangerous Meditation

O thank you for sharing a deeply personal story. That must continue to be deeply traumatic for all involved. Love and peace to you and yours It's a traditional Chinese folk fable and not that it actually makes any difference but...... Please enlighten me how a story about a student taught by a head of the Complete Perfection school Taoism who then went on to found the Purity and Tranquility School is Zen mythology and what is "taoist reality" ?
  4. Many methods, many ways. They get overlaped / confused depending on the system they come from, hence the easy confusion. My Yoga teacher teaches breath in lower, middle, upper chest breath out breath ower, middle, upper chest and I have also seen it done the other way. I find it a bit "forced" rather than natural for me as I'm use to belly breathing really low down. I learnt that for playing wind instruments in school. My yoga teacher said my breathing "is so relaxing, like the ocean" KAP is a combination of many methods so it can change around depending on what you are doing but it's often breathing into the lower belly, breathing out squeezing the belly towards the spine. And my kung fu Sifu said. "We all know we can only get air into the lungs. But think of filling up the belly. It is the intention and path that is important" (we do stuff like MCO's)
  5. To Know Is To Speak?

Another one. My Sifu told me this one last week as I'm going to another kung fu school for a look at the class and he does not want me showing off "Pan Chu Sek Lou Fu" "Pretend to be a pig, to eat the tiger"
  6. To Know Is To Speak?

True, just look at all my posts for proof. But you got to do something while you are at work or watching TV. You could always visit http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?showto...hl=silent+forum fun but not much happens there
  7. Dangerous Meditation

It's really tricky re:mental illness Non pc mode. Even the most balanced, intelligent, wise and functional individuals are going to suffer a lot during the upheaval and turmoil of working through a myriad of experiences till they regain their stability. Start off with mental illness or an already shaky relationship with "reality" or "society" and it's asking a LOT of a teacher or system to actually be able to improve someone life, rather than do harm to it. Short courses and seminars are particularity vulnerable to doing harm. Mental illness definitely is not a barrier, it's just an extra obstical on a dificult path. Some people thrive on the challenge. But some teachers are not equipped to deal with it.
  8. Let's talk basics.

Do whatever you enjoy and do it everyday The best practice is one you will actually do. Much better than a "best method" that you don't practice IMHO you should look forward to your practice and want to do it. Also think "foundations" rather than "basics" you foundations, fundamentals are always important and can never be too strong. Personally I like simple practices. cool Cohen is a good DVD. I never had much success with orbits compared to how they feel now after being taught them in KAP, previously I only felt them doing moving chi gungs for kung fu

  11. _/\_ Thank you "What if God was one of Us" is a song I love too M, as is this one Tom Waits, Road to Peace Young Abdel Mahdi (Shahmay) was only 18 years old, He was the youngest of nine children, never spent a night away from home. And his mother held his photograph, opening the New York Times To see the killing has intensified along the road to peace There was a tall, thin boy with a whispy moustache disguised as an orthodox Jew On a crowded bus in Jerusalem, some had survived World War Two And the thunderous explosion blew out windows 200 yards away With more retribution and seventeen dead along the road to peace Now at King George Ave and Jaffa Road passengers boarded bus 14a In the aisle next to the driver Abdel Mahdi (Shahmay) And the last thing that he said on earth is "God is great and God is good" And he blew them all to kingdom come upon the road to peace Now in response to this another kiss of death was visited upon Yasser Taha, Israel says is an Hamas senior militant And Israel sent four choppers in, flames engulfed, tears wide open And it killed his wife and his three year old child leaving only blackened skeletons It's found his toddlers bottle and a pair of small shoes and they waved them in front of the cameras But Israel says they did not know that his wife and child were in the car There are roadblocks everywhere and only suffering on TV Neither side will ever give up their smallest right along the road to peace Israel launched it's latest campaign against Hamas on Tuesday Two days later Hamas shot back and killed five Israeli soldiers So thousands dead and wounded on both sides most of them middle eastern civilians They fill the children full of hate to fight an old man's war and die upon the road to peace "And this is our land we will fight with all our force" say the Palastinians and the Jews Each side will cut off the hand of anyone who tries to stop the resistance If the right eye offends thee then you must pluck it out And Mahmoud Abbas said Sharon had been lost out along the road to peace Once Kissinger said "we have no friends, America only has interests" Now our president wants to be seen as a hero and he's hungry for re-election But Bush is reluctant to risk his future in the fear of his political failures So he plays chess at his desk and poses for the press 10,000 miles from the road to peace In the video that they found at the home of Abdel Mahdi (Shahmay) He held a Kalashnikov rifle and he spoke with a voice like a boy He was an excellent student, he studied so hard, it was as if he had a future He told his mother that he had a test that day out along the road to peace The fundamentalist killing on both sides is standing in the path of peace But tell me why are we arming the Israeli army with guns and tanks and bullets? And if God is great and God is good why can't he change the hearts of men? Well maybe God himself is lost and needs help Maybe God himself he needs all of our help Maybe God himself is lost and needs help He's out upon the road to peace Well maybe God himself is lost and needs help Maybe God himself he needs all of our help And he's lost upon the road to peace And he's lost upon the road to peace Out upon the road to peace.

  15. Working Through Some Issues

If it helps I like this one. I too love books and reading about stuff. It is pretty much how our education system taught us to learn and what it rewards. The collection of knowledge rather than doing and understanding through practice. The Wheel Maker Chuang tzu Different trans but it's all in here somewhere http://oaks.nvg.org/ys1ra5.html
