  1. Changing Destiny, Liao Fan's Four Lessons

Thanks for the pdf Sati andLin for the recommendation. I had read the lessons before but this commentary really clears up ..... Well basically the "fixed" "variable" bits about destiny, that we seen to be discussing, in the 1st 100 pages :-)
  2. IIRC he was trying to show that it's not like a "push" by using someone bigger/heavier than he could push. But I'm not much for videos, I really need to touch (and yes some people feel so disconnected and unbalanced they basically fall over by themselves - and I'm definitely nothing special either)
  3. Many thanks Cheya, that sort of practice is definitely something I don't mind spending time doing. I also had a talk to Scott via email and have brought the book (kindle) As soon as I read ARC ... yeah that's describing what I feel (both in Tai Chi and KAP) I think this book will help me .... lets say "level up" re: Knees, I've taught people with bad knees, and for a while I couldn't even stand on one leg You could certainly do push hands with a high stance, but it's trickier to learn it that way as there isn't much range for movement (if that makes sense), The usual depth of stance with fixed step push hands will probably cause too much tension, if getting that deep causes pain I think it would be counterproductive.
  4. Thanks for the replies, the key for me is what's required to practice what the book outlines. A Tai chi form, check. An energetics practice, check. But are there additional practices and time required ? Or is it more of a refocus on what you are already doing with your existing form practice? The last real instruction Sifu gave the three of us before he left town regarding tai chi was "Feel the chi" I'd be reluctant to deviate much from what he taught, but then I'm also looking for more instruction and not having any success locally. His blog looks good basically if you think his book improved you... that's probably all I can hope for :-)
  5. Changing Destiny, Liao Fan's Four Lessons

My life experience proves it, as a general rule. Obviously YMMV
  6. Has TTB's had an effect on you?

TTB gave me something I, at the time, referred to as "The one." It turned out to be an experience so much more about me... and so much less about TTB Wasn't always fun but I'm grateful _/\_ p.s. this will be meaningless to all but a few good friends <3
  7. If You were on the Moon..

Hey Lin _/\_I tried this, but unlike thinking of the death of my body (more of a liberating feeling) this felt...like an empty hole in "life" a concentration of "no-thing" While "life" was still out there it was not a concentrated, more diffuse, scattered. But I had recently heard that the stars actually only shine for a brief period of "time". Once they have all stopped shining a much greater period of time will pass while that once concentrated heat/energy is distributed thought the universe after an almost infinite time eventually this distribution will become "even" and then that period will last for eternity, there will not even be time as nothing is changing! Eternal no-thing. And that thought has been playing on my mind :-) I'd like to think that at some stage in this eternity a "thing"will become, a difference that will lead to 2 and so on till the myriad "things" are born again.
  8. [HHC Study] Hua Hu Cing Chapter 4

So if virtue is our"nature" why are we sometimes unable to be virtuous? Mostly I can but not always, and it seems those times are when confronted with aggression towards myself or others. My Sifu use to say "You can't protect others if you are lying on the ground!" and the martial art I learn is VERY aggressive, think about hitting me and I'm already hitting you "Do not stop till you see red" -traditional saying So how to reconcile that with the above... I don't know,... perhaps the only "assistance" you can offer some people is an opportunity to receive what they are projecting?
  9. If You were on the Moon..

I finally go to the moon, and everyone else goes to heaven! *sulking*
  10. This is what I read :-) Somewhat other worldly old drifter, drifts/drawn into small rural town. Offered hospitality by humble/honest peon who mentions Spooky goings on at town cemetery. Well meaning, but not particularly accomplished priest willing to accept help Drifter practices (3 circle standing chi gong?) simple movements that are attractive to humble peon and priest, drifter can also convey his wisdom to them as they are open to "truth" After encountering powerful unknown, drifter gathers resources (ie his teacher awakens so will probably be needing help) At least that's what I got, reframed as a western cowboy story as that's the only real drifter mythos I have, no wandering monks in my culture :-( Has good options for basic teaching (drifter and peon) mid level (drifter and priest) and high level (drifter and the master) Could perhaps be told by the peon, might anchor reader to village and give more meaning the dead girls life and importance of the strange goings on and the"evil"force Unsure of the usage "police" involvement but perhaps as the "bad sheriff" helping the evil side ? Same with the townfolk, not to sure how the will be used. Was able to guess India from cultural clues (names and chai) could not tell if modern times, could be a story set in the past. I would like to know how it ends
  11. car accident poem by ~samanthashaeadkins, Dec 5, 2011, 5:45:15 PMJournals / Personal You're still here in my heart and mind, still making me laugh cause your stories live on. I hold you in a thought and I can feel you. I feel you and this gives me strength and courage. The tears I have cried for you could flood the earth and I know you have wiped each one away. For you my friend, I promise you this, I will go on with my life and make you proud. I will always hold you in my heart. I promise you I will be missing you everyday till the end of time, but this is not my end and I can't hold myhead underwater....I need to breathe. I need to love and miss you, but I also need to live because through me you will live, you will still laugh and love, you will still sing and dance, you will still hug and kiss. You will forever be in our lives, you will forever be a brother, a sister, a friend. I am going to miss your shining face I think of you and wonder why? I might cry or smile, but at the end of the day I am one day closer to you....
  12. Mod Out

My love and gratitude for your guidance and wisdom ... It was a great pleasure to work together.
  13. G'day folks ! :D

Well 2 days ago I read this and though of you From Thich Nhat Hanh (also pictured here): "Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the earth revolves; Slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future; Live the actual moment. Only this moment is life."
  14. Big blue snake

:-P Here we go, my old Avatar. I was actually teaching a week of lunchtime classes for hospital staff for Diabetes week ... back in 2004. Didn't have long hair back then, but there was a LOT more on top
  15. [HHC Study] Hua Hu Cing Chapter 3

I like this point, I have a tendance to think of practices as something to be done. But it's really the natural way (I confess there is nothing to teach) and the teachings are only there to lead us back to what is natural. Natural is easy, and it only stops being easy when it's something forced.
  16. signing out

Got another PC or a cookie remover? Either of those should require you to log in again Weird that that logout didn't work

  18. Hacked Taobums

all this "activity" has lead me to finally download chrome again (I was having trouble getting an installation for ubuntu as their own web store had a bugged version lol) and adblock, that's a very cool program, TTB (and facebook) now look SO MUCH BETTER p.s. now neither chrome or firefox go to url4short from agoogle search so something else (unrelated to my activity) must have been changed too.
