Welcome obayifu, With the exception of magick (although I think a few here have "been there done that") you should have fun mining the threads here.

Good points by Pietro. I suppose the million dollar question is how long do we want this to take, a few weeks I'd say it's all good. A few months......mmmmm And perhaps the foundation people would like one where people won't dump cr@p on their teacher too. Personally I just answered the last kunlun ? with a bunch of links to old threads. I also find it very "Tao" that this place was originally an offshoot from HT (I'm told, I'm new too) and now many of TTB are involved in making a practice specific forum again Circles

Both True. I do think neigong/chi gung (honestly don't know the real difference or what I do, again easy to show) exercises enhance self defence ability though. My Sigung only teaches chi gung to his assistant instructors and above. So they already have an excellent base in the fundamentals of the art. My Sifu teaches it to us as soon as we start learning. He believes it will take us years of practice to "get" them & after 5 years I agree, they do take a while to learn -

Mmmm, o.k. but the quote sums up why my Sifu teaches me chi gung. Chi gung is like the engine for our short power. Thanks for the link Star.....I think we are doing a very similar thing, although via a different path. -
"It could be the weirdest and most embarrassing prediction in the history of cosmology, if not science." o.k. guess the NY times does not publish much Taoist stuff....... good article, thanks.

Hi Winpro, Is it a ringing sort of sound? If so check out this one, just before your time. http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?showtopic=4003 Rembered since that thread. I use to notice this ringing sound when I was a kid too, usually inside a parked car when it was very quiet. Was scared I had tinitus so I didn't tell my parents and focused on not pay attention to it

haha What makes you think that I'm not crap too, my Mabu looks more like goat riding There are some great martial artists out there but I'm not one of them. My Sifu's students are older adults, some of us are fat and most of us have old injuries from past arts. You would not want to make us run around a football oval! But the body conditioning is pretty good from doing jongs (paired up contact practice) and conditioning drills all the time. Sifu teaches more along the lines of working with what you've got, rather than making us super fit. Although he does say we can do that in out own time if we want, he does not like to waste class time doing fitness drills etc. -

Yes I do Southern Tong Long. Shame we can't touch hands as it much easier to just show stuff then talk about it. Good description though, as you said the low stance could have been the reason, high stances in Tong Long. Have fun. -

I pretty much stoped TV watching in October (election was on, lies everywhere) and I'm not missing it. People at work usually tell me the important news. I feel a bit out of touch but it's worth it. I still get the TV guide and tape stuff with HDD recorder so we have something to watch while eating (no dinning room table, chairs and the entertainment system I prefer music but D did not have a TV for a while as a child and I think that is why she likes to have it going rather than the radio. You just waste so much time channel surfing watching stuff you don't really want to just cause it's there.
