Everyone "deserves" compassion, even more so with those that don't deserve compassion. Yet we qualify into deserving and undeserving. Punishment is an extremely poor way to attempt to modify behavior. Yet it is our societies usual 1st choice. Weird isn't it.
  3. What's in a name?..

My surname appears to have been changed when my great grandfather moved to Australia. As for my fist name, I'm going to have to paraphrase Butch from Pulp Fiction and say "I'm Australian, honey. Our names don't mean nothing." Although Mal is apparently Spanish IIRC for evil, and people have thought I use it as a joke. Pretty cool, but it's just my preferred shortened version of my name. This thread should be fun as other cultures usually have pretty cool name meanings.
  4. While I'm glad you think TTB is special, we are just a little net forum. No reason why anyone should speak here. And given our track record for crucifying any "known" person who does post here I'm not surprised if they are actually motivated to stay away Having an emissary seems to be the "safest" way to talk here (eg kathyli in the 2009 thread)
  5. El Cheapo tea challenge

Since it's the "El Cheapo" tea thread, while I love my hard to find exotic teas. I recently bough some supermarket brand white tea teabags for $2 when on holidays. I had a great time siting on the veranda where I was staying, drinking my tea, and reading a cowboy book as the sun went down. I brought them home but they just don't taste the same now
  6. Chinese Martial Arts and MMA/UFC

While it can be used as an excuse, as pointed out the rules make it really hard for traditional Kung Fu. And yes the aim of UFC is to be a great spectacle. And it is, I do love watching it. Especially when people get opened up from elbows and there is lots of blood. "If he can take all those punches, he can take a poke in the eye" - Mike Goldberg. Actually it looks like he can't take a poke in the eye, fight over I like the really early UFC when it was still quite diverse. But UFC is a sport, most people are not badly hurt and shake hands at the end..... not really anything like street fights, where the good ones are over in seconds with the loser going to hospital, at best. And to be honest no way I'd like to get locked in a cage with Lesnar but I can't wait to cheer on the next person who does
  7. She wants me to cum

From The Art of Shen Ku - The first intergalactic artform of the entire universe. (fun book) if someone wants to field test this for me I'd like to know how you go
  8. Increasing Jing

While a big disadvantage of TTB is the fact that "Taoist Discussion" is a huge mixing pot of various topics, it's also it's greatest strength, giving people access to a diverse range of views on all sorts of stuff.
  9. Meow Meow

I like how they got most of the body language, the looking to see who was watching and the joy at the end. But a bit too much caring in the dropping in the bin part. So like most revenge fantasies, it's implementation in reality left me feeling vaguely disappointed and dirty
  10. Third Eye

Perhaps someone could post a cliff notes version or a clue. Every time I try to read a sutra I honestly find them as boring and obtuse as the Bible. (So that's not to say they are without merit, there is great stuff in there, I just find it very hard to find) "This method is not a method; it is one without form. Yet even a formless method is a method. Today I pass on this formless method; but no method is a method."
  11. Delete message feature

If we give members delete message it will work exactly how it does in the personal practice sections. I.e. it will allow you to delete ANY message. While that would be fun.... for a day or so, we would probably end up with a silent forum So the only way to "delete" is to re-edit your own post to empty.
  12. Military Training

I personaly have not read this thread at all, but the moderators have been asked to move it to off topic and agreed. I'm told that, given the subject matter, the discussion has been very civil. So I would like to thank all participants. Good discussions are what we want to encourage here at TTB So please keep this thread going in that spirit in this new location if you wish. --Mod Squad

There is already plenty of that intent out there. I sent her some love in a practice yesterday. She probably needs it right now. I keep recalling one of Buddhas companions who was captured and made to poke out his own eye. Yet he became good friends with those who made him do it. Or something like that, I read Osamu Tezuka Buddha a while ago now (But I would still gain personal amusement seeing her thrown in a bin, so much work is still required)
  14. El Cheapo tea challenge

Sounds like a plan, no rush. I'll send you a PM
  15. El Cheapo tea challenge

I've been looking at them a bit, but I don't see anyone who has actually brought from Amazing Green Tea. (I did Kunlun despite the choice ofadvertising method ) So I guess the only way would be to taste them. Want to swap a 2010 King Grade Dragon Well for one of your good greens?
  16. El Cheapo tea challenge

Amazing Gree Tea is basically a 3 person business direct from the farms. I feel he is a VERY good source. http://www.amazing-green-tea.com/about-us.html
  17. El Cheapo tea challenge
