I don't know but "dont do anything" sound like a rather popular taoist yin concept (non doing) and the young fit people could well have burnt themselves out Too much of a yang focus seems to fit our stereotypical western exercise model. Good for you while you are young and full of energy, but injury and burnout are common over time. Unless you are genetically gifted to withstand such a training regime and only the very top level athletes seem to be able to do that. Still, got to agree with So just try to enjoy yourself while you are still breathing

This week I was thinking that I should only eat once a day, a healthy meal at night and just have fruit and nuts during the day when I get hungry. Then Yoda posed this link to http://www.fast-5.com/ in the water fasting thread Sounds intresting and I like the chance to eat all sorts of crap Anyone tried this diet? Basically eat what you want during a 5 hrs window! I'm almost like this naturally, it's 1pm and I'm still not hungry, and it's not that hard for me to wait till 5 to start eating. I started this on Monday. Hard to tell how I feel todayas I have a few days off work and have been sleeping in and relaxing Basically interested in the benefits of the "strict" fasting period, not so much the diet loosing weight part (although that would be nice too) I know a few people here eat once a day but I'm not sure if they are "Fasting" as such in between meals. Thanks in advance

Well I am since Nov 2008 or so, didn't realize this thread predated that by so much. Stable weight, enjoy the lifestyle. Today I was up at 6:45am when for a walk up a hill and into the bush near my house. Did long form Tai Chi x2 and walked back home, 1h30m, to do some chi gungs. Had fun at home and a little afternoon nap (only got 5 hrs sleep the night before) then motorbiked to a hill overlooking the beach for 1h30m of Kung Fu in the afternoon with my friend. Plenty of energy, only drinking water. I don't normally exercise quite that much, just enjoying the public holiday. After dark my dinner was a few bowls of slow cooked beef and vege vindaloo curry (mild) with wild and brown rice. I toss it into the slowcooker throughout the day, and I have a multi vitamin. Since it was football on TV night I relaxed and also had 2 bottles of beer (and some easter eggs we get our eggs early in my family) I do tend to eat fruit during weekdays at work and drink green tea. I just perform a bit better mentally doing that (I'm desk bound at a computer) and I tend not to eat much fruit during my evening meal. Weekends are more classic fast five, like today.

Thanks for the link Bindo Well if you really want me too........ but that thread has 17 replies so it seems a bit mean.

Made me recall this thread -
Yes I try to notice when I hide away, wrapped up in my thoughts, and instead be mindful and aware of what I'm actually doing. Secret smile and Tumo breathing I tend to utilise a fair bit during the day, whenever I want their effects. Also slowing down and really rooting into the earth as much as possible when I'm moving. But part of my day is carving out time for practice, working week is Chi Gungs in the morning, Tai Chi at midday, Kung Fu in the evening. Weekends are a bit more haphazard but you can always make time. I still did my Kung Fu while on a 3 day dive trip by practicing every afternoon on the boat. I probably looked like a tool but nobody bothered me about it

Try http://www.oldapps.com/skype.php I use V 3.8.0.188 IMHO the 4 chi gongs alone are worth the price of KAP and are pretty much the mainstay of my daily practice routine. yes and have a laugh. Much love _/\_ -

But what if you are the only one on both sides of your family going bald with receding hair My grandmother thinks it's because I brushed my hair from childhood with a cheap plastic hairbrush that really scrapes my scalp.

Still it would be an amusing novelty for a thread to stay relatively on topic If Eric is trying to teach a system, as he appears to be. 1. that is very generous. 2. debate on the merits of techniques is probably just going to be confusing and counterproductive to those trying to learn them. *not mod-ing just me*

Dear Dao, You look awesome; can you teach me your way of beauty?

I've tried a few threads attempting to get information about female practices and their difference to male practices. The info is out there, I recall Cat and Little1 having had some good conversations. But it seems that the threads can get flushed down the board rather quickly. So I'm trying a slower paced conversation here Others will notice us eventually

Are there differences between the various qigong practices and how do I choose the right one for me?
Mal replied to mindspring's topic in General Discussion
Cool. Just adding a little word change really helped me in my quest. I tend to think of a "basic practice" as something to be learnt and then dropped, moving on to intermediate and then advanced. But I now prefer to think in terms of fundamental or foundation practices. To me that change of wording gives "basic" practices the respect they deserve. Building a strong foundation is the basis of everything that follows and while they may appear simple they are so often extremely important. I feel that is an excellent goal and wish you all the best. -
Pretty much the same here, although I usually try "why would someone feel that way" as my question. I like the perspective expressed in your post.

There was this thread on traditional Chinese clothing But Lin moved to the US and the cost became too expensive to make the clothes. Apparently that's called a ming men warmer, but I still can't find any links to buy one. I guess I could sleep in my kung fu sash........ but that is a bit weird even for me

Keeping mobile with Tai Chi may help. My Sifu's aunt couldn't walk without a cane before practicing Tai Chi, She has good mobility now.

Didn't Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth book 2 reveal that the 6th Tibetan as the real key to appearing youthful. "The one extremely important factor for looking dramatically younger... I've intentionally been holding back on" page 29 http://www.kundaliniawakeningsystems1.com/downloads/ancient_secret_of_the_fountain_of_youth_peter_kelder.pdf Apparently the Colonel didn't really try to tell people about #6, he felt few would have the motivation and drive to do some form of retention and drawing the energy upwards with the breath. He's probably right, while I aim for balance, if I had to do strict retention and no sexual interaction, well I'd rather die. (If it wasn't book 2 I'm sure it's in one of them, along with using raw butter to reverse hair loss.) While I did enjoy practicing T5T, like others I'm just not sure is they are "better" than Tai Chi / Chi Gongs / Meditation etc..... Although I am thinking about trialling headstands to see if they help with hair loss. While my skin looks very young and healthy, I'm going grey in the beard and running out of hair
