Yeah. The first time I ever saw the video of Chang on YouTube I was having a hard time believing the pellet demo. I had no idea how much of a joke that actually was for him to do though. Jim was able to perform the pellet gun test and was approximately 262,144 times less powerful than Chang. My theory is that each level you progress the LDT changes and it can absorb energy twice as fast as it previously could. This is why each level is a double of power. You can absorb energy twice as fast, so you are able to cultivate twice as much energy per hour of training as you could in the previous level. Assuming this is true a person at level 20 can cultivate energy 131,072 times faster than someone at level 3 could. If John drained his energy it wouldn't take near as long to get it back as it took to get it in the first place.

Assuming that power doubles along with energy level, he needs less than 1/260,000 of his total power to do the pellet demo. I'm not entirely sure if the fact that you have twice as much energy means you can push it out twice as hard or in twice the amount of quantity (a larger water tank doesn't necessarily mean a larger hose or more water pressure), but this is what I assume.

The decline and eventual fall of the USA as world superpower?
KenBrace replied to Formless Tao's topic in The Rabbit Hole
That brings up a question reguarding evolution that I've always wondered. Take wings for example. How did they come about? The first beginnings of a wing that resulted from a mutation wouldn't aid the creature. There's no reason the creatures with the beginnings of wings would be more advanced and the members of the species to reproduce. Lions might grow stronger and larger because only the stronger, larger ones will reproduce. How would traits that are only benificial after millions of years of improvement come about? -

100,000 years whatever. The idea is that the evolution of life occured through random mutations and survival of the fittest right? I studied evolution in biology class and have watch Richard Dawkins a lot. I'm not going to talk like I'm an expert and know exactly what I'm talking about because I'm not, but that's pretty much what I've always heard. Correct me if I'm wrong. -

Not really. People teach it like a fact in schools but that's not really true. I going to be honest with you; I'm not really a creationist or an evolutionist. I see problems with both. Do you know much about evolution? Because if so I have a question for you. I could just be ignorant because I haven't studied evolution in depth but I have basic knowledge; earth is 4.5 billion years old, humanity appeared around 50,000 years ago, survival of the fittest caused life to advance, etc. Give me a bit and I'll compile some. I not really a big fan of talking about politics, global warming, world events, etc. but I'll look into it. Honestly it all seems like a big crappy mess to me that I'd rather stay out of. I regret posting on this thread. People will ramble on and on and on about this stuff. -

True. Reminds me of my parents. When they hear anything about chi (TV, online, etc.) they automatically associate it with "newage stuff". Really annoys me what newagers have done. -

My point is that the "everyone else believes it so you shouldn't argue" idea is ridiculous. People like to ignore the minority and make themselves feel confident by going with the crowd and having "everyone else" to back them up. A lot of the time when people have the majority behind them, they use it to sort of "intimidate" the minorities' argument. You're right, I am getting off topic and I honestly don't really feel like discussing this any further. Believe what you like, just don't put too much faith in modern science and what everyone else is telling you. Creation science isn't exclusive to Christianity. Also if you did some basic research you would find that "creationism is a code word for injecting mythology into science" isn't true. There is a lot of legit science to it, but most people don't know that because everyone ignores it. A lot of atheistic scientists are closed-minded. They don't like evidence that supports creation and do their best to ignore/suppress/hide it. -

No it's creation science. -

Go to medical school and you won't hear a single thing about energy healing. Walk up to pretty much any scientist and tell him that there is an invisible, life-force energy that can be developed through meditation and exercises and used to heal, kill, increase wellness, etc. He/she would think you were crazy. -

KenBrace replied to Formless Tao's topic in The Rabbit Hole
My point was that the fact that most scientists disagree with me means nothing because beliefs in the past that most of the world agreed on have now been shown false. The idea that you can't heal, increase longevity, etc. with an invisible energy called chi is just a modern example. -

With this logic you shouldn't be practicing qigong, because I don't know of any scientists that would agree with your idea of chi energy. The fact that the majority of scientists would disagree with me means nothing. At one time 100% of scientists believed the world was flat. People put too much trust in the science of their time. Most scientists today believe the universe got here without a God, life came from non-life, we evolved from primordial soup, and the earth is billions of years old. I disagree with all of that. The only reason so many people believe these ideas is simply because they are brainwashed their whole lives and completely drowned in it. The same goes for the knowledge the Chinese discovered thousands of years ago. It is treated like non-sense simply because primitive, western science hasn't discovered it yet. Fluctuations in solar activity is the main cause for the regular ups and downs of global temperature. The idea of increased CO2 causing major global warming makes some people a lot of money and is probably why it is so wide-spread and exaggerated. -

So much talk about global warming. If you've ever looked at the charts and really examined the evidence you would see that the earth's climate fluctuates regularly. 50-100 years from now they'll be claiming that an earth devastating ice age is on it's way. Don't fall for this stuff. -
No I didn't miss it, but SonOfTheGods compared John to Pa Lok Nen and with that kind of power the government couldn't "snatch" him. He'd have to voluntarily cooperate.
-
First off the people in that story died about 80 years ago. Second off John is much weaker than a butterfly compared to those guys (level 20 vs 51 = John^31). Don't compare John to Pa Lok Nen because he's 31 levels behind him. Also none of the Mo Pai students are higher than level 2b, so there is no "John and his merry band of masters". Another thing. Why on earth would John want to join the military???
-
I didn't say that he DID exagerate it, I was just saying that (although I do believe the story) I can't really be 100% sure if the whole thing was told exactly like John told it. I know that power doubles with each level because of other sources, not just The Magus of Java.
-
If you tell a story more colorfully to make to less boring, it doesn't mean the story isn't real. Well not necesarily. Kosta tends to exaggerate, change, make up, color, etc. stuff in his book. I believe he might have colored the story a bit but most of it was probably the same as what Chang said. Lol I wish Kosta would just tell things straight so we could know for sure! Even if the story was completely made up, double Chang's power 31 times and you get an idea of how much energy a person at level 51 would have lol.

Here's the training manuel for Longmen Pai... http://www.amazon.com/Ling-Bao-Tong-Neng-Gong/dp/1470174545/
-
He was level 51 if I remember correctly.
-
That's fine with me. Probably so lol. That does tend to be the problem with most arguments.
-
I disagree but there's not much point in arguing about it I guess.
-
Lol did I not understand what you were meaning?
-
Well maybe but I wasn't really referring to sorcery as a good thing. Using the power of demons is a serious and dangerous thing. Demons are evil and only do things for you to get something out of you. When they've gotten what they want, there's no telling what they'll leave of you. Developing chi is a completely different thing.

Clocks and watches are a way to keep track of time, not time itself.
-
Well it has been shown that time slows down as speed is increased. The faster you go through space, the slower you go through time and vise versa. So if time can be changed then it is obviously something. You can't slow down something that doesn't exist. I'm uncertain as to what it actually is though.

I agree that we shouldn't just listen to rumors and random people on the internet, but I'm mainly going by what Jim said. He talked about it a lot.
