Sadhguru on being stoned and alert at the same time without intoxicants
Nungali replied to Ajay0's topic in General Discussion
I get his point all right ! I dont even bother to take MDMA any more . I realized if I develop my Eudamonia more, not only do I feel better , but actually, last time I took MDMA , I realised that for a bout 4 days after I was not in my normal blissful state ( and I do not equate that , nor MDMA with being 'stoned' ) . We can say it was a 'poor choice' , but if the guy is smart , I think rather , it was a 'calculated wrong choice' to garner interest from decadent westerner drug gluttons ( that last one was a dig , please dont post the stats of illegal drug consumption in India , I have already seen them . ) -
Sadhguru on being stoned and alert at the same time without intoxicants
Nungali replied to Ajay0's topic in General Discussion
Exactly ! and being a keen exo-psychologist I am well aware of the different types of drugs and their classifications , the different stages of development that are associated with them , the inter-relationship of those two things and the specific therapies involved . For example, even alcohol has a dual effect, circuit and development area ; initial consummation of a small amount of alcohol triggers circuit 4 - the socio sexual circuit , many realize the pleasant social effects of a few drinks, casually or at a party or over dinner , and yes, one can feel a bit horny after a 2 or 3 drinks . Drink more or 'to excess' it triggers the 'anal territorial circuit ' and the pleasant social gathering ( for some types ) can devolve to ; " Where you looking at my woman ?" .... and sometimes physical violence . another example is, I know a woman that works in the nearby city and a woman's refuge , she says most seeking refuge that have been abused by men, they have an alcohol problem , we dont get women coming in seeking refuge from men that have a marijuana problem . To mix all these dynamics and separate therapies up and put them under the heading of 'being stoned' to seek pleasure , and then equating that with a spiritual bliss claim, seems the equivalent of the old hare krishna recruiting technique : if you chant hare krishna every day , or better , become one , its better than any drug you can take ! Wow Man ! where do I sign up ? -

So, no one who claims to be a spiritual teacher nowadays .. even if they have a large internet and social media following ( I hope you can detect my sarcasm on that point ) , is not to be mocked when they say silly stuff, or worse, change teachings from 'bliss' to 'stoned' to attract westerners , or tout obviously fake principles that clearly go against science and proof because they sound 'spiritually cool ' ( or maybe people just be ignorant ) .... like the silly comments that where attributed to him about full moon and kundalini internal tides , or some rubbish like that . -

Arrrgghhhh ! We had an earthquake ..... apparently . Now, I know many of you might think Australia doesnt have earthquakes , being a huge island continent sitting in the middle of its own tectonic plate and that nothing here moves much ? Well thats wrong ..... a few days back there was one in Victoria , people where panicked , social media went crazy ! One guy was even tweeting while he hid in bed under the covers . The news showed dumbfounded citizens being even dumber : " What do we have to have earthquakes for ? " There was no damage or injuries reported , but some people got woken up in their sleep ! ( But most slept through it . ) No, its not that we dont have earthquakes here , but however they are a bit rarer . This one was an after shock of one in the same area a few years back and that caused damage ! 5 bricks fell out the wall at the local hamburger joint in town ! nation wide media flocked to film the bricks lying on the road . The media went back there this time , but, thank God, no bricks where dislodged . Australia ! You never know what is going to hit you next ! BUT ... we are a proud and strong nation and ....

Whaaat ? Being stoned without intoxicants ??? Stoned is a word that means being intoxicated . Maybe his English is poor then ? and I doubt " anandamayakosha " means 'being stoned ' . -

Weird . That seems to make no distinction between types of drugs and shows a very limited understanding of what is going on . I have friends that ask me aboyut this guy ; " Do you read Sadhguru ? " " No ! " - and it is not that he is wise or worldy ..... its a fashion , of some type . he seems to know nothing about addication and the various reasons people get addicted to one type of substance and not another . -
Nah, I dont see myself as the guy in that boat , he is just another 'devotee' . if I were to place myself in an icon it would be as Juan Diego ( and I thought ; 'there I am ' , the first time I ever saw the icon , probably 30 years ago) 'the young man ' beholding Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe ;

'Chaos' is that state whose order is too subtle for human observation . -
Not really, because by making another post here ..... you just opened the doorway even more for 'evil spirits' to get you . That's the 'spirit' ! Anything vaguely disturbs you .... just stop 'believing in ' it .... even singular words .

And how can one live to ones fullest potential if you are stuck in a job you dont like, that does not use your skills that you inherently have and have developed, dont feel you are going anywhere and dont understand the purpose of it ? Such a person will not be fulfilled, feel self worth , acknowledge their own genius via output and expression in 'life's work' or may not even find a reason for living, let alone find joy in it . Someone fulfilling a career or calling that is fulfilling those things will find a deep satisfying accomplishment and drive and find joy in expression ... even amongst their failures and bad days at work as they are doing what they ... more than love .. its a fulfilling of purpose and the reason for being here . The same applies to 'a job' as it does to ' one's life' . That is , finding and expressing your 'True Will' . But this is just one aspect of the 'formula. ----------- Of course, sometimes it can rough 'out there ' ; " Life is suffering " ; Where beyond the extreme sea-wall, and between the remote sea-gates, Waste water washes, and tall ships founder, and deep death waits: Where, mighty with deepening sides, clad about with the seas as with wings, And impelled of invisible tides, and fulfilled of unspeakable things, White-eyed and poisonous-finned, shark-toothed and serpentine-curled, Rolls, under the whitening wind of the future, the wave of the world. - fortunately for me , my tutelary deity , is also the patron saint and protector of sailors, seafarers and fishermen ;

Here is a crazy idea ; maybe they are trying to fix a bad wiring problem someone/thing did / happened ? I hope so . That would be a nice miracle .

Cobie just pointed out what your self IS ... undeniably , and you affirm that again above ... yet reject it . It is the self which feels hollow and emotionless .
-
Well, you are curious about how Cobie spends his time and ... errrmmmm .... you seem to have rather a bit to say here ..... ?
-
.... Oh, by the way , this does not imply that I dont 'suffer' . But like depression , eudamonia is 'insidious' .... it finds a way to creep back in .

I would not merely refer to it as 'satisfaction' . Its much more than that . ... read up on it . It isnt just a 'western classical idea' , its based on a life dynamic , culturally , across the board and through time . I have witnessed it in Aboriginal culture, read about it in other cultures, written here about it regarding Zoroastrian concepts . And a version of it is in the Themeic concept of 'True Will ' / 'Holy Guardian Angel and the classical 'Tutelary Deity concept . Its only this year I put all the threads together , and realized the 'strange state' I am in - from a combination of 'fortuitous nativity ' and years of certain practices . SOME views on it however ( classically ; Epicurus and some modern psychologists apparently ) confuse it with hedonism and pleasure seeking . I think this is due to the narrow definition of some of the terms used to discuss it , classically , eg. arete .

I was watching a dive film once , a scuba guy came up behind a slow whale and , I guess he could not resist getting hold of the end of the tail fin . Immediately the whale pulled its tail away from laterally and very fast . Visibility was not high , the tail soon faded out into the distance ..... then came flashing back like a freight train - nearly took the guys head off, just missed him. I suppose the whale felt something take hold, and since it didnt know the guy was there must have assumed it was some annoyance .... like we would swat at a mosquito or something similar . Dont touch without introducing yourself first . Another time, my elder brother came home looking like he had seen a ghost . He used to go out in the ocean crazily fishing in this small undersized boat . Apparently a whale had surfaced near them , slowly cruised by, rolled so its eye was above the surface and he was eye to eye with it , he said, about as big as a dinner plate , the eye stayed fixed on them turning as the body went past. He reckoned it was close enough to touch with an oar , then it just slid under and kept going . I saw that 'ghost dolphins' footage the other night .... awesome !

oaths matter ..... if you keep them .

If you would rather sit down and focus your attention on your breath , instead of developing your thinking skills, guarding against lies and self-deception, training and mastering your emotions, making better and better choices, doing more and more meaningful things, and deriving ever-increasing satisfaction from all that you have become and all that you have achieved, and are yet able to achieve... sit and breathe then .

typical response . and very 'transparent' .

Errrrmmmm .... Try a proper explanation , rather than a very simple and basic definition * . It isnt just 'happiness' and it does not consider what is moral due to that perspective and it isnt a motivation for action ... if anything it is an out come of ethics/ logic/reason (in the classical senses ) and the results of actions . And if you care to examine it , it is actually bought about by a 'spiritual state' and several if not accomplishments , then at least various successes in approaching those accomplishments ie , via the tutelary deity . This is all from a mainstream western system going back to antiquity But you westerners ... you keep up with all your 'eastern enlightenment ' then ... and the stories about easterners that had success with it ( compared to such basic concepts of mere 'happiness ' - which eudamonai certainly is not ) * " Eudaimonia is often translated from Greek simply as 'happiness'—but that can be very misleading. The word 'happy', which is related to 'happen' and 'perhaps', derives from the Norse happ for 'chance', 'fortune', or 'luck'. From Irish to Greek, most European words for 'happy' originally meant something like 'lucky'—one exception being Welsh, in which it originally meant 'wise'. Another word for 'happy' or 'fortunate' in Old English is gesælig, which, over the centuries, morphed into our 'silly'. Eudaimonia, in contrast, is anything but silly. It has nothing to do with chance and fortune and everything to do with thought and design. Compared to happiness, it is a much deeper, fuller, and richer concept, sometimes articulated in terms of flourishing or living a life that is worthwhile, fulfilling, and elevating. All the major philosophical schools in antiquity regarded eudaimonia as the highest good, often even the very aim and purpose of philosophy, although the various schools, such as the Cynics, the Stoics, and the Epicureans, may have conceived of it in somewhat different terms. What can be said is that, unlike happiness, eudaimonia is not an emotion but a state of being, or even, especially for Aristotle, a state of doing. As such, it is more deep-rooted than happiness, and more stable and reliable. Although it leads to pleasure or satisfaction of the highest kind, it does not arise from pleasure, but is according to higher values and principles that transcend the here and now. The people of Athens put Socrates in prison, they even put him to death, but they did not and could not take away his eudaimonia. " (my emphasis ) read others views on at https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/hide-and-seek/202006/what-is-eudaimonia .

I am referring to this Lairg For decades it has been rare to see an inner first initiation occur during Masonic ritual. ... How the hell would you know ? if people cant see what that is ..... you be blind in that area .
-
I had no idea you where traveling around the world and visiting the Masonic temples and observing their initiations and their effects . and of course they are happening all the time. here is a list oif just the Grand Lodges , that control numerous lodges under them https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Masonic_Grand_Lodges You gonna be a busy boy observing and judging the worth of all that . But maybe you just glance into the 'etheric ' and have a little sign that lights up " No one achieved initiation successfully this year ." Sometimes the 'spiritual ego' people have and the assumptions people make !
-
And what is this 'true initiation' ? Your statement seems a very limited perspective from one school of thought that has appropriated the very ancient and primal practice of initiation into a mystical religious system . From the point of view of an actual study of the practice of initiation as a core human social bonding and development practice, going back to the paleolithic, it seems the height of arrogance to see the appropriated practice as valid to only one system or culture and then claim it is the only valid one .
