Nice answer ! Errrmmmm . Sorta Thelemite . I was curious about it, followed along for a bit but rejected a lot of its interpretation . As time went on, I saw some of its essential principles in other things so I accepted them as valid . ( I dont like to accept things when I cant see a reflection in 'nature' - and that includes macro and micro levels , eg 'cosmology', physics, etc . Otherwise, nearly all the time, they are some type of aberrant ' human mind trip' ) . Through the last few decades ( and up to about 8 years ago ) I had the opportunity to learn about Australian Aboriginal 'shamanism' , but each time , I had 'business' in the western initiation tradition, so it was defrayed ( I probably was not ready for that anyway ) . Eventually, reaching the 'hermit' level and 'retiring' , that world reopened to me . Surprise surprise, things 'in there' where 'similar principles. Also, a lot of the western hermetic tradition particularly Thelema seems sourced from an ancient form of Zoroastrianism ( I have posts on all this stuff scattered about ) ... so in a way , lets say I am a ' Neo- Zoroastrian Thelemite ....... * ' 'Magic' and its operation is a very different thing now for me . * My teacher would introduce me to others as a 'white cleverman * ' . I hesitate to use the word as it might give the wrong impression That does not mean I am a white person that is an Aboriginal cleverman , NO ! It means I am a 'cleverman' in white esoteric traditions .... although they have seen me 'do magic' ... they get a bit freaked out , but teacher would laugh at it . Eg Thing is ( I reckon ) 'you got magic in your blood ' ( one's genetic or traditional roots ) ' and you get magic from where you live' .

I had experience trying to help a girl that had that . problem was she would wake up at night and be awake, check herself that she was not having sleep paralysis by getting up walking around , picking up things etc. then the thing that happened that usually happened ; a demonic form of her own self would come through the door and paralyze her then start ripping parts of her body off and eat them ... and then she would wake up screaming . May I play with your statement ? (That is 'empty politeness , I am going to anyway ) ; It isn't like falling asleep, it is being intensely awake. When ( the illusion of A ) "self" drops away it is completely obvious that no-one has ever been in charge of the body, ( hence, considering all those things we are 'in charge of' ) - or anything else. "Volition" is just a fiction permanently ( if considered from this 'single self' perspective ) . It isn't an experience or some temporary state, but the permanent underlying quality of reality. In my practice the only controlling , mental, volition producing , 'singular faculty' is the process itself . What I mean by that (in simplified language ) is that the concept we have of singular 'self' is a handy operative concept, but we are a collective, as far as self is concerned * . .... Oh, and there was no baby after all But I ended up with my own 'outside bedroom' separate from the cabin , I didnt bother glassing in the huge front open space, just a half wall . Then a someone tells me they got a load of cut lumber from the old illegal mill that shut down . I thought, bugger the ritual, I'll go and steal some wood . So I went to case the place, soon a security guard appeared and went ballistic on me for trespassing, said everything was now owned by the bank and to clear off or he would call the police . I managed to talk him down, saying I was just curious as to what would become of the place . He said the land would be sold by the bank to recoup the loans . The wood lying around ? (Which was not top grade at all , illegally cut and milled by 'cowboys' without much skill ) he said they probably chip it and sell it off to Japan . I winced and tried ( as I thought I had sussed the guy out ; old school, typical ' Aussie bloke' ) : " Ya know , I had an Uncle that died in new Guinea defending this country against the Japs . he would be rolling in his grave knowing he gave his life to defend his country and resources .... and now we just hand them over to them on a platter ; trees to wood chips ... you know, the Japs dont cut down their own forest , no way , their forests are sacred icons , not allowed to cut them down . " he looked at me like he realised I was bullshitting, but then " ... can you get a trailer ?" " Yes, and I can be back in 10 minutes with it ." " Right ! Two loads, thats all you can take , then get out of here ...... and dont tell anyone ! " So I did and enclosed the building with walls . On finishing someone commented on 'the magick' , I asked what they meant and they reminded me I told them I felt I had to do the job but had no money and would try magick to get it . * " Oh yeah ! I was never any good at money magick ... money is one of the hardest things to get by using magick . All I could manage getting was ; a stable peaceful content and appreciative mind and outlook, a healthy balanced psychology , 200 acres of prime farmland with fields, creeks, rolling hills and forest with adjacent world heritage rain forest with a clean river running through it and beaches nearby , a dream ( literally, I found an old poem written as a teen that describes my house ) rustic / bespoke wood cabin, organic veggie gardens and orchards , a smatterin' of beautiful girl friends , a 4 x 4 for off road , a luxury classic car for touring, a retro motorcycle ( and that I also used to dream of owning as a teen ..but it did not exist back then ) . But then 'fate smiled on me ' and I did eventually 'crack it ' ( 6 figures ! ) , so then I went off traveling through the vast desert , diving in the ocean with manta rays , wandering amongst the pinnacles * at dawn . Now ? I enjoy and appreciate , especially the new wonderful honey that has entered my life and her beautiful little girl ... who I have all the love in the world for . And of course, she who made all this possible . * It wasn't a single ritual . It was due to the following of a system and obeying its instructions . In that system, such success is promised , I thought it was like all the other such promises made in other religions / systems , but no, they where empty . This system also offered 'proof' not requiring 'faith' . I thought , ahhh , what the hell, I 'll give it a go . Well, I got the proof. Best decision I ever made

Jet gas air heater .... we used to run them in the mess tent at work . This guy above is having a BBQ in the desert , where it is very cold , hence the large size of the gas heater , and this one is a mobile version . He has set it up but is having difficulty using it due to his hunch back and weirdly angled neck and jutting forward head. He should probably use the radio, buried by sand in the foreground , to call for help . ( I had hoped dorky clothes would have been eliminated from the future , apparently not .)
