The secrecy thing .... its been a big issue in the past as one tradition I was involved in was a 'secret tradition' .... that 'held a central secret' . Boy would people bitch about wanting to know what we did, what the secrets where and what right we had to with hold secrets from them . Well, they where available , but by membership and certain rites did come with a fee BUT membership was very minimal , it is an international organization and some costs are involved in continuing and supporting it * . With any fees they are to cover costs of ceremony , they forbid the exchange of money for teachings though . Still , not enough " I want it all now ! With no conditions ! " Every sort of reasonable explanation was shut down by some type of self centered outburst . * One example is in the case of traveling inspectors ( trusted members of high degree ) , checking conformity , to make sure people who even where qualified and certified to operate to not start changing things , becoming corrupt, charging money unnecessarily or for teachings , doing their own trip in ceremonies , adding stuff, making deletions, etc . ... and they are kept 'in check' by the head of each country ... and if that head becomes corrupted, inactive, weak, etc , a council of inspectors can depose them and elect a new one . Of course that does not stop corruption , there have been some breakaways , some very weird manifestations , they mostly soon die out . Although some have gone on to 'greater things ' ( but still now manifest as 'Internet Orders' that require 'money orders' eg . AMORC .

In my other practice , (more 'shamanic' and related to the environment I live in ) " embodying the correct ethical qualities " would go under the term " Law " . Following Law underpins everything and any success relies on it . My teacher tells me to just 'Ask Big Mum' and I will get whatever I need . I found that is true IF one follows 'Law'.

Very important - essential actually . The weird thing is some people think they are not there , or prominent yet to me they are central, VERY clear , and spelled out in the central crucial rite ..... on two levels (or two ways to approach it ) . I guess , for some, in traditions, rights and teachings, just like in 'life' ..... they are not, 'paying attention' ? . Looking at the more mainstream western tradition ( ie. Freemasonry .... well, it used to be a mainstream tradition ) it seems very much based on ethics and the teachings are symbolic , using the 'tools of the trade ' to demonstrate ethical principles and relationships .

Actually, I will be doing something like that this morning ; as usual I go into town on Saturdays and train in park by river . The town is used to that as its been happening for near 10 years now ( also some aikido guys train there too ) - public Kobudo . But there is no 'commentator, note reading , nor 'club / proselyting over a loudspeaker . But being Xmas weekend the town will be full of tourists ..... gawpers be at minimum though as its raining . Today, I am planning to match my spear against a tai-chi sword .

I think one of those guys hangs out around here ; 'a friend of a friend ' . he often goes on about 'Bag - wha ' and then hunches over , points his hand out and does a funny walk in a half circle ..... but he will never do anything like match, 'muck around,' or even jostle with me ... well he did once at first, I never hurt him or did anything nasty but he was 'out of there' pretty quick and seems never to want to have another go again . Doesnt stop him boasting about how he trained with this or that 'Master' through . I think some of those 'Bondi Boys' watching in the background of that video where itching to 'have a go' . .

Jeeze what a mess ! It used to be so simple with my teacher - but you see, he doesn't do any of 'this stuff' ^ . It happened in the past , in Judaism . It has an inner secret 'energetic' tradition based on ecstatic exercise and more importantly .......... (its a secret ) . I am more interested in the Hermetic, Zoroastrian and Sufi approach .... in regard to ..... say one is a builder or a tiler .... then one studies development, advancement , awareness , 'enlightenment' , until one achieves one's enlightenment , then one becomes an enlightened ( Master ) builder or tiler .... not some burned out ecstatic, not a mystic living in a cave or a monk in a monastery or some person trying to make a living out of the techniques they used to find and develop themselves .... and then we all benefit from their 'Mastership' :

Some of the figures in that article are pretty confusing , then at the end there is a correction . It also states that the energy output was greater than the input ... but that input measurement was only the lasers that hit the target , it seems to suggest that a massive amount of energy was used , much more than any output, and a lot of it did not hit the target . But then the correction at the end isnt clear if that is overall energy put into the system ... or just 'on target ' .

Bringing science and spirituality together ? I suppose it is as spirituality could be defined as anything really . Even what you wrote above, which I am trying to make sense of . I cant seem to get much sense out of it ... what you are saying about the science side as this constant , which relates to another constant determining the strength between electrons and protons but the theory does not predict the values, so it needs to be found experimentally, which relies on observation and experiment to see how measurable factors define the system and measure its behavior (its ' empirical parameters ) in the Standard Model of particle physics within which its value is not determined . The spiritual comparison with this , as I said above , could be anything since spirituality is undefined , even generally . IMO the better approach is to compare science and hermetics ... where we can see hermetics as a branch of ' spiritual science ', then we compare the 2 'sciences' to see if hermetics ( with proper understanding ) can be a valid 'scientific' expression. Also hermetic principles are defined , unlike spiritual principles . One brief and simple example , again using the Standard Model is four basic forces of physics ; their function and mode of action seems to fit in rater nicely with the hermetic idea of the four elements and their specific function and mode . And the hermetic model - or what is suggested within it ; mainly that 'Earth' ( manifest reality ... the 'hard solid stuff' } is not merely one of the four elements but a 'product' of the other three , when transposed on to the Standard Model , with this in mind , might give insight into why the Unified Field theory ( which has not been 'unified on all 4 levels ... they cant fit 'G' into it , although the other 3 forces do fit ) has not been able to include the force of gravity .... seeing G as a 'product of ' the other 3 , might give some insight onto a 'Unified Field Theory ' Elsewhere on this site I have an extensive paper on these comparisons ( scientific theory and heremetics ) , where I offer many examples ( this is just one example ) .... but I guess by now , this post hasnt got any one reading it, they dropped out a few paragraphs back - I which 'Brian' was still here ( I remember once we where discussing a formulae someone put up ' the universal physics formula for everything .... or something like that .
