How does GOD,the christian god, fit into the bigger picture? Is he referred to in any of the other cosmologys of the daoists, buddhists etc?

I think you might be a little confused about religion . If you are going to look into it ; the western concepts of religion came first through Zoroastrianism , then Judasim , Christianity, Islam and now Baha'i (although none of them are 'western' ) . Perhaps what you are trying to track is the advent of monotheism ? Many think the above religious stream tracks monotheism - but it doesnt . Its still all a little confused ; are you saying you will look into Judaism to see if they have a concept of the Biblical God ???? Errrmmmmm .... try the Old Testament in the Bible . Ughhh ... let's say ' you will look into Hinduism as well . Or better still ...... look into 'Vedanta' . The trail * comes through there . * From Siberia , down through Central Asia to south Central Asia where the teachings split , east - west . West stream develops Zoroastrianism and later , Levantine religions , east stream develops Vedanta ..... Vedanta incorporates native 'religions' from the sub-continent and out of that comes 'Hinduism' . Then I'd suggest historical accounts of how people viewed Christians at certain times ..... unless you ARE set on the 'Biblical God' (whoever that is ! ) then you have to include Jewish concepts of deity . Early on , and specifically with 'Abraham' - 'El Elyon' - the 'Most High ' (ie, head of a pantheon, so not monotheistic ) , probably an import from 'Ur' ( supposedly Abraham's origin, or the home of the 'generic Abrahams' - the migrating people ) . The concept originates in Zoroastrianism as ' Amesha Spentas ' ? You might have to write a bit clearer to get a good answer . Perhaps in historical accounts , eg what the Romans thought of the Jews beliefs but I doubt they bothered to write about 'Their Jewish God' as a concept . Its a bit like ; I am not going to comment on my relationship, ideas and concepts about someone else's God , but might comment about their belief in their God . The closest I can come to is in the Bible where supposedly other people ( not Jews ) had some type of relationship or acknowledgement of the 'Jewish God' ... but that is within Judaism / Bible and not from another religion . If you can refine your question more accurately and better , then a search can be done with that question . -

Which God in the Bible ? The Bible, as far as 'God' is concerned is a developmental concept and goes through very different stages , just as the Jews and Christians went through different stages themselves . I dont think we can talk sensibly about how others interacted with this God of the Bible - but how they interacted with Christians . Well, God generally is referred to , or denied or modified but I am not aware of any of those religions identifying with some development stage of 'Leventine Deity' . But they would be Christian Gnostics , would they not ? Here we then have yet another variation of 'the' Christian God . Who is this 'he' ? You either consider religions acknowledge the same God (concept ) in different ways or there is only one God (or set of Gods ) and the others are faked or , there IS a set of Gods, but your one is better or more suitable for you . I have never heard a person of another religion refer to a 'God of the Bible' as its own reality ( if they did, they would be Christians ) ..... there is even contention between 'God' and 'Allah' - and they are very close historical concepts . I think your question is all tied up in western religious conditionings . -
I think they where here looking for Chinese heroin addicts

'Caprinae' Even if it was the same class a deer would be a subdivision of 'Caprinae' not 'Caprinae' being a subdivision of deer . This is getting as 'bad' as Japanese - I asked a Japanese guy what a particular word meant and he said he could not tell , without reading the whole paragraph . Then he said most Japanese do not understand 15% of Japanese words ??? " The majority of difficult kanji are keisei moji, which means you can often make a reasonable guess once you've understood the general pattern. .... So, in general you either know words or don't know them. The problem is at the words/vocabulary level, not at the kanji level. For this reason, we can say that recognizing the 2136 jouyou kanji is a necessary condition to be able to read a newspaper, but it is not a sufficient condition. You still need to know many, many more than 2000 words."

Its okay ...... even in English , with English only speakers .... they call a tomato a 'vegetable ' .

Oh no . They just have to appear in here ; https://www.urbandictionary.com/ Update ! Or yo be gettin a cornobble bro ! Now lets see the good English speaking people of China , convert this one to Chinese ...... on an online translator " Child: " But I don't wanna clean my room and take out the trash!" Adult: " That's cool. The 'skeleton on the gelatin' may just come and haunts your ass then."

Whatever happened to Xxandra ?

'Croptober' eh ? down here we call it 'the silly season ' . We got a reverse dynamic down here ; it usually starts to 'dry up' (for most outdoor crops ) before Xmas and people fuss as that's holiday time and they want their 'recreationals'. Of course, a winter crop in warmer areas will deliver harvest on time for celebration season . My supply of raw materials for producing 'The Wonders of Lebanon '' dried up .... be another 3 months now ....

Yeah . But I was told ( by an 'educated ' Daobum ) the reason a goat and sheep is interchangeable in Chinese astrology is that in Chinese language they use the same term for goat and sheep . What probably is meant is that 羊 is a name for 'Caprinae' So, what is your take on the goat / sheep interchange in Chinese astrology ? Something to do with north and south culture / languages ? .

Ahhh ... the temple has a website and they sell 'temple type stuff' over the internet . On another matter .... here is my most recent joke (its a bad one , of course ) ; Yes , Hu Jintao did have to leave party congress because he 'was not feeling well ' . YOU would 'not feel well ' either, if you just found out you where going to be executed .
-
In china, a goat is a sheep - To be translated into Chinese ; " Hey LIng ! Can you please separate that goat out from the sheep and and put him in his own paddock ." 'Separate that sheep out from the other sheep ? Which one ? " " THAT sheep there , the one that looks different to all the others, that sheep with the big horns and the little goaty ... I mean little 'sheepy' beard on his chin . " ( private DBs joke about the response I got when asking about 'sheep/goat' in Chinese astrology .... ie. said DBs 'expert' that deigned to inform me of my ignorance had no 绵 or 綿 concept - me so dumb - thank God for educamaction I be getting from Daobums . )

How does a Taoist shrine get money from having an internet connection ? Dont tell me Taoist monks are in there 'gaming' .... please dont tell me that .

Cool stuff ! Rocks that grow ..... they move ..... they 'reproduce ..... but at a VERY slow rate . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-7y3B8DjGw

Okay , so since a semi Daoist spends 8 hrs a day doing 'the chore' ( ???? ) at the shrine , no, no one here is a true Daoist .... Taoist , as they would not be off line for so long in one stretch . Oh wait .... does this Taoist shrine have internet ?

I note how the rant is an attempt to divert what I pointed out about the supposed denial of capitalism
-
Or ... mine is , and yours is not ... therefore I have divine right and approval to kill you .... and it will not even be me killing you .... it will be God killing you . Isn't 'religion' fun !
-
Which I note ... you can not cite . Look at what I just said above and what you are actually responding to by quoting it ; " my first posts on this subject where defending the religion and the good and simple people of Islam " ... and you respond by calling THAT hate speech . Idiot ! It was against hate speech directed at Muslims that I first spoke out here ! yeah, thats right , people are dying becasue I am criticising certain aspects of Islam here . While no else is dying or oppressed due to Islam's insane fundamentalist interpretations; Oh , I see ... westerners ... like Bindi and myself will encourage India to nuke a hoard of peasant homeless refugees . You have got yourself worked up to a near insane level mate ! yeah, whatever .... go off on a political rant now . At least you have exposed yourself here for all to see how crazy it can send ya ! any type of fundamentalism will do this ... and I can tell you - many Muslims that I know DO NOT APPRECIATE this approach when dealing with non Muslims, it effects THEM and their desire to have peace. I have been told this MANY times !
-
Of course it is an old argument .... its an old excuse - with a giant hole in it !
-
and now Bindi is tagged with " ... your racist, xenophobic hatred for all that is good in the world ... " and " What a bad person you are to deny god and disrespect god's lovers and friends. .... " " stuck in a life they hate and are unwilling to take personal responsibility for lifting themselves higher turn to jealousy, envy and hatred to compensate for their inadequacy. " Of course its all our fault ; " the average westerner facing a failing and spiritually deadening and unrewarding culture of capitalist growth in a rapidly warming, overpopulated world " because Islamic culture has none of that , right ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitalism_and_Islam Meccan Capitalism & The Economic Revolution of Islam - In other words it is the same as capitalism .... with 'Divine' restrictions . This is an example of Islamic non-capitalism ; " Islamic laws governing usury, which aim to prevent inequality and unfair wealth hoarding, explicitly forbid investors and lenders from earning interest on their investments. This is because to do so would be to collect unearned wealth and enrich oneself at the expense of others . " Of course this could cause a response 'explaining everything ' ; its all fair , usury is not allowed , any profit must be channelled back or " If financial activities do generate interest, this money should be reinvested immediately into socially worthwhile activities and causes." really ? some might think this is a modern phenomena ? Nope https://aboutislam.net/muslim-issues/africa/muslim-king-richest-man-ever-lived/ It must be nice to live in a world where all profit is shared and goes towards the needy . ( and just to remind people , my first posts on this subject where defending the religion and the good and simple people of Islam , but THIS rubbish needs addressing - just as I would address similar rubbish claims from any other religion that was trying to paint itself with such a pure brush ! )

I am well aware Donald of the many 'justifications' for 'religious actions' . There is no harm in the constant 'blessing' and/or 'realisation' of Inshalla. My comments apply to 'occasionalasists ' as well .... when its used as an excuse . These are two very different occasions . What you say may be valid, but is it valid ifI punch you in the nose and then say 'God did that .' ?

Lithops ? Mine got huge ! I didnt think cacti would grow in a rainforest .... rot or something ? Nope . I asked the 'Cactus Man' whats up and he said 'The more rain they get the bigger they get . ' And they change form and look different , desert cacti are the gnarly old dry survivors . My favourite one looks like a stone ( lith - op ; λίθος 'stone' and ὄψ 'face' ) but once a year puts out a long spike and unfolds a series of red 'Japanese lanterns ' (flowers ) from big ones at the base getting smaller in size to tiny ones at the tip . Flower in the shape of a woman - plant in the shape of a stone :

Have you no shame Lairg ? ... you are offering stupid new age cosmic advice for someone with a clear medical problem who is suffering and is in pain and your advice will not help them in any way shape or form . I dont even know why such an approach is allowed here ! In any case Adept ; Its tricky with nerve pain , as opposed to 'spasm' pain .... is it nerve pain ? Pain meds are atrocious ! AS you said, the side effects are bad . Many use medical strength marijuana . Personally I have an allergy to opioids and can not take them orally , a few years back I had a hip replacement and recovered on a mix of panadol and marijuana. But I am not sure about this with nerve pain . Op sites are tricky .... even with mine ( when the dressing was changed the nurse was impresses ; " Some one did a good job here ! " ) - but still, it ended up with a bump and a dent in it . I would also be getting another medical opinion on it ... maybe some TCM / herbalist or specialist ? That is ; a professional - NOT a Daobum !
