Great . But what type kanakes, dogdog lojor, gebrag, badeng, bungko, badud, buncis, calung, padaeng, sarinande, arumba, toel or sri murni ? Do you know how the angklung got its name ? The teacher stands out the front and says " ... and you with the bamboo thingy , I want you to go; gklung gklung ..... gklung .... and gklung - gklung gklung ..... gklung .... and gklung - Gklung gklung ..... gklung .... and gklung - me , I am more of a ' gong ageng ' man , myself . ( and of course, for this one , teacher is pointing at me every so often and saying ' Gong again ' . With occasional gloshes of the suwukan ( and of course , again, that instrument used to be played by Sue , who was instructed to 'wack 'em' . ) ... okay, I will stop now .

Written by my teacher's * teacher - his masterpiece ; * one time , for one workshop - amazing experience . I actually got to play on the gamalan ( the two huge gongs at the back) on an old gamalan set that I used to admire as a child that was locked up behind glass at the Australian Museum in Sydney (they got a new one for display and the old went to Sydney Uni Gamalan Orchestra ) .

IMO , no karma does not exist as 'universal accounting for virtue vs. harmful actions.' , except in the minds of humans . As a Universal Force though it does exist but relates to a different concept than this ^ ..... its more like ; every force / action has certain repercussions and 're percussions ' can spread out , like

Many many moons ago some 'tourists' travelled through my little 'village' , taking a diversion on the way up the coast. They had been visiting Sydney University and performing there . I say village , but its just a 'location' ; a free camping park by he river , a small store and a nicely done up community hall . So they decided to put a show on for us at the hall . WOW ! Talk about unexpected ! A huge band of guys from PNG - a mix of tribal costumes , bones thru noses, dreads down to the floor nearly , a mix of trad instruments ( log drums, nose flutes ) etc . and electric guitars drum kit, brass section . They went off ! A And they liked the crowd there and the vibe ... 'just like home' they said . And they said, at home people just come up on stage and grab an instrument and join in , we dont mind . So we did . That was night to remember . They liked it so much, they used to return each year for a show and party. But that was years back ... so please excuse old bad quality vid (its nothing compared to the live performances I saw )

Friend had a big dog - bull mastiff guard dog - and a little fluff dog . Little dog died and big dog got depressed. Later my friend came home and saw garbage bin had been gone through 'Bad dog ! ' she never did that before . But then friend noticed the little dog's toy , which she had thrown in the garbage had been retrieved and placed on the little dogs bed . She threw it out again but same happened next day . So now they ( dog and owner) have a little 'shrine' in the laundry ; big dog's bed with big dog in it and little dog's bed next to that with the toy in it .

There was a whaling fleet that had a 'contract' with a pod of killer whales that would help the fleet in the whale hunt. The whalers , respected the contract , with the boss whale ( 'Old Tom' ) and they had a good relationship . One of the men drowned had a funeral and they took his body to be buried .. Boss whale followed the boat and came close into shore and maintained presence throughout the ceremony - although he was 'watching ' from off shore and the cemetery was a little way inland . Once the grave was filled in the whale left . There are many stories like this with various animals but I cited this one due to the unusual species to have a relationship with . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killer_whales_of_Eden,_New_South_Wales

Oh ! I thought you where going to say , ' GS Master ' .
  10. Mysticism

Yet, what you just said is of the very nature of mysticism ; it is beyond the intellectual level and by definition " vague or ill-defined religious or spiritual belief " . Being able to 'see the true nature of things and pierce through illusions' is very vague and ill-defined . So , by your own statement , XianGong is a mystic ( or at lest trying to pretend he is one ) .
  11. Mysticism

Maybe you are trying to intellectualise it ?
  12. The Good Old Days

In he last few years , every new gadget / tool I have bought comes with a user manual that has the first few pages of 'safety operation' full of stuff like that . 'Do not touch the rotating part of the saw.' 'This heater gets hot ' ...... 'do not insert fingers into rotating blades ' My old gas stove was a classic, had a little sign on the front 'To turn gas off, rotate knob to 'off' position .'

and Mulla Nasruddin . But nowadays it would be a new 'koan' ; " Why do sit upon the donkey backwards ? " " I do not ! I know what I am doing .... its the donkey's fault , take it up with him ! " Probably ... ' ceptin I dont think that . Ask someone that went through a war and then lived through a time of peace later . - I knew a guy that did that 3 times ! Hmmm ... I dont know what the first one is and barely know about the second , so I have no need to deal with them . Unless you suggest they are part of generating the problem that I am trying to deal with . When I hear ' Tik Tok ' I think of ... * < sputs coffee mid sip > * The title character is an intelligent robot (named after the mechanical man in the Oz books) who originally works as a domestic servant and house-painter. Unlike other robots, whose behavior is constrained by "asimov circuits"—a reference to Isaac Asimov's fictional Three Laws of Robotics, which require robots to protect and serve humans—Tik-Tok finds that he can do as he pleases, and he secretly commits various hideous crimes for his amusement. After manipulating both robots and humans to cause chaos and bloodshed, Tik-Tok becomes wealthy (partly through health care privatization) and is finally elected Vice President of the United States. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tik-Tok_(novel)

  16. What made YOU laugh today/tonight ?

I did it 3 days ago .... into a lumber yard . But I made sure I was enough ahead of him so he didnt see . Speeding along happily and then a line of cars passed me going the other way, in the middle was a Highway Patrol. I eyeballed him in the rear-view mirror , red and blue lights went on, but a quick U-turn could not happen immediately due to traffic . I went around a bend, out of view and straight ahead at the next intersection , turning left there is the main route , so when he got there , he had to make a guess which way I went . In case he guessed I went straight ahead , I turned into the lumber yard ( which I have been frequenting lately for building supplies ) and parked behind a truck , and ducked inside the hardware store there. Guy that usually serves me ; " You're in a hurry , what do you want today ? " " I think I will browse for a bit . " " Oh ? ' Hurried browsing' ? " " Highway Patrol is after me ." So we waited a bit and he went out to check up and down the road . All clear . So I went home via a back route .

Pickles and mustard ? That must be it, I think its the only 'flavour' in one . I am back into Mex lately ; tomartillo salsa ( and I got a new crop just coming up ) with chilli, coriander , red onions, lime juice and corn oil . Blackened 'cherry' 'Russian black' tomatoes , blackened red capsicum peppers , rice with some pickled jalapeño on it , refried black beans with fresh roasted and crushed cumin, fried onion and garlic and some melted cheese and smoked chipotle sauce on top, lettuce sprinkled with chopped garlic chives , and a big blob of sour cream, a few spoons of red sauce on the side and a bunch of fresh hot corn tortilla .

Thats right, they are all methods . But dont forget methods are a vehicle for your intent . Sometimes your own created ceremony can be better if it helps to organise, focus and project your intent better .

Tingshaw is good for sending off or sealing /affirming and intent or 'spell' . You mentally attach your intent to the sound and let them 'ring together' . A good tingshaw ( or 'magic bell' ) should be made of magicum electrum ( or at least , plain electrum ) and it does not stop ringing , it gets fainter and fainter until the tone passes into the 'other realm' taking your intent or spell with it . ( So you should never stop them ringing manually - dont put them down until their sound becomes inaudible . I would prefer a cleansing and balancing ritual , I have a few of those , but they are more 'western' practices . I am sure Buddhism, Vedanta and Daoism has similar practices . After that you could create new intent and use the tingshaw for that .
