No silly, its not that its this The Dooner A dance move that in which one rubs there palms togethers and thrusts there hips while standing on bent knees. Guanentees to get you laid.(60% of time it works every time.) Next lesson , how to do the counterpane . Or we could just quilt while we are ahead ?
-
Not as bad as the mystery of getting the doona into its cover ! I mean why one earth do they make the slot only half as wide as the bloody dooner ! I've tried everything ! They could just put the studs down 3 open sides . Then you lay it out, lay dooner on it , fold the cover over and snap, snap, snap . Stupid bloody dooner covers ! .

I am also going to advocate astrology here as well. And I dont mean mundane popular daily predictions /romance , etc BS astrology . I mean study astrology . I am a firm believer in that hermetic maxim 'Know Thyself' . If you dont know yourself FIRST how can you expect to accomplish anything else ? I did a workshop with some others that went for many weeks, once night a week on how to read and interpret your own chart . Invaluable ! It also put together some things and solved certain 'mysteries' I have had all my life until then . I am giving it a ( you see what I did there ) Of course , studying astrology and finding out a whole lot of stuff about yourself isnt going to have any of the problems outlined throughout this thread . -
Mystical has more 'spiritual mystery' in it than plain old everyday 'spiritual' . Something can be 'spiritual' without an element of mystery . Further , mystical relates linguistically " from Greek mustikos, from mustēs ‘initiated person’ from muein ‘close the eyes or lips’, also ‘initiate’ ". So, connotation's of 'spiritual mysteries' ; those spiritual things that are held more occult or esoteric, where 'spiritual' can be exoteric as well as esoteric .

Thanks for that and yes, I do see how you can get what you said from that quote . Good ol' Krishnamurti ! I can see how he got to that position after the experiences he was put through by his ' spiritual peers' . I am still advocating the psychonaught path though . What I liked about it was the way of treating it like a scientific experiment - on myself . Try something, see if any thing happens of value and if it was worth it . Like an experiment it needs to be written up though and results recorded, sometimes for a long time, in a working diary. Reading one of those back can be very self illuminating ! And one can increase adjust or abandon as results indicate . -

Look for the gold, discard the dross . What ? You want a perfect system , perfectly suited to your unique individuality ? Forget it ! In a way , IF you are sincere and DO want to be on a path of self discovery and advancement and development you have to, we all have to, overcome certain difficulties. Some have minor ones to deal with and others giant ones to deal with . We get your bitchin' . If its only bitchin, okay well and good and bye bye now . If you DO want to go further , you might try reading some of the advice here a bit more 'receptively ' , hmmmmm ? And you will find the answer to your question is actually ; yes . Then piss off the clergy ! Try a gnostic approach - meaning 'self knowledge' and one who contacts ( God or whatever you are chasing ) directly and does not need any intervention or mediation via priest or clergy , etc . Did he ? ALL religious practices ? 1. I'd like to see a direct quote of that . 2. If you really believe that , simple , just become an atheistic materialist . I hope you find some clarity beyond your venting outrage and anger ( I am not saying it might not be justified , I just would not like to see you stuck there for too long ) . -
I knew this was gonna go from evidence to anecdote

Yes. I haven't been into girls since I was a boy . Now I am into women , and have been for some time . yeah , girl friend is a strange term . lets call them my paramours . And there where not just 3 as sometimes the combination changed (one would drop out and another one replace) . I would not call them pretty . I am not into 'pretty' either Pretty ... what a funny word ; " ... of a person, (especially a woman or child) attractive in a delicate way without being truly beautiful. ... an attractive thing, especially a trinket. " I can see it now; " Come here ...my little trinket . " -

I didnt post that as an intro to Crowley's system but used it as an outline for an approach . regarding my 'dont join a religion (or cult) but use the technology to your own ends ' I will offer an example ; Eg. yes, I have studied hermetics and related subjects like alchemy. I got a job in Bio-dynamic Agriculture , a branch of Rudolph Steiner teachings. Now, Steiner was a Christian Mystic and so are his followers (even if they dont realise that ) , NOT my cup of tea at all, thanks . But I got where he was coming from . So I understood why soil treatment 501 uses crushed quartz rods, its to utilise the specific energy in quartz and transpose those qualities into the agricultural environment . Some of the people I worked with, and those running things , certainly, where followers of Steiner , and so, of course supported this idea and would nod knowingly about it in conversation . I call these people the religious approach , they where followers of Steiner and did what he told them to do . I came into possession of a large quantity of crushed topaz . Topaz has its own qualities , like every mineral or gem has , and these are good for remedying certain conditions in agriculture , whose excess can be problematic . So I offered my supply and suggested we use it to make a remedy . The looks I got at the mere suggestion ! I explained it all to them but they just looked like blank cows and seemed not to have a clue what I was talking about. The only real response was " Steiner didnt say to do that . " It didnt matter how much I explained the theory or practically ... nope , if Steiner didnt say to do it they would not do it. (of course they where doing all sorts of things Steiner didnt say to do any way , like substituting native ingredients , using the preps as some type of magic fairly dust and a whole lot of stuff geared towards running a business and increasing profits . Steiner was developing a technology, that his followers where following religiously BUT of course one can still do the technology with out becoming a mindless Steinerite , like some of them where and adopting their system of morals . They seemed to actually think that they where overstepping to practice what Steiner practised , they didnt want to practice what he practised himself, they wanted to practice what he taught people . A much simpler example (which is sorta inaccurate, but just trying to demonstrate what I mean ; one can follow the teachings of Jesus, or one can go out into the desert for 40 days and see what happens . - no phones or TV by the way ... oh yeah , you mentioned Krishnamurti .... They said he was the new world guru / avatar / Master ... the New Christ . They put him up on a podium to reveal his new 'Christ message ' , excet he denied that and told people ; " You yourself are the teacher and the pupil; you are the Master; you are the guru; you are the leader; you are everything. And to understand is to transform what is. " To me this is pretty close what I am trying to outline . -

Over the years I have had numerous 'apprentices' catching my 'pin' . Cant say I needed to hammer it into a hole though , I preferred a more persuasive approach . An embarrassing moment at the Chinese Doctors ; -

Good for you ! Make no compromise , give no quarter ! This is your personal development we are talking about here , not a morphing into some type of acceptable mould . I am curious as to what you mean about faith . The system I am using doesnt require 'faith' nor condone it . Might I suggest you abandon the religious approach altogether and adopt instead the idea of 'religious' technology ? * Become a psychonaught . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychonautics * Ie. there are things ( techniques, exercises, etc ) they use in religion and are dressed up as religion that achieve certain ends . Throw out the dressing and focus on the 'technology ' . or to put it in another way ; dont follow the teachings of Jesus of Mohammad - for example - (and all the crap and interpretations that they and their followers and institutions said and wrote ) try out what they did to achieve their 'enlightenment ' - but you own enlightenment . The system I spent many years in did exactly this and had and still has many people of various sexual identities involved in it , with no judgement whatsoever about that . Also it allows sexual equality , for example , my first initiator was a woman and the head of my local group was a woman . Sexuality is celebrated with no distinction on what type it actually is ( all within the context of not invading another's free will of course - and that includes someone being old enough to have developed and understood their free will ) . In case the distinction between religion and 'technology ' in practice is unclear, I will offer this -its about as brief and concise of any definition about this that I have found so far ; THEOREMS I. The world progresses by virtue of the appearance of 'Christs' (geniuses). II. Christs (geniuses) are men with super-consciousness of the highest order. III. Super-consciousnes of the highest order is obtainable by known methods. Therefore, by employing the quintessence of known methods we cause the world to progress. ESSENTIALS OF METHOD I. Theology is immaterial; for both Buddha and St. Ignatius were Christs. II. Morality is immaterial; for both Socrates and Mohammed were Christs. III. Super-consciousness is a natural phenomenon; its conditions are therefore to be sought rather in the acts than the words of those who attain it. The essential acts are retirement and concentration — as taught by Yoga and Ceremonial Magic. {196} MISTAKES OF MYSTICS I. Since truth is supra-rational, it is incommunicable in the language of reason. II. Hence all mystics have written nonsense, and what sense they have written is so far untrue. III. Yet as a still lake yields a truer reflection of the sun than a torrent, he whose mind is best balanced will, if he become a mystic, become the best mystic. THE METHOD OF EQUILIBRIUM I. THE PASSIONS, ETC. I. Since the ultimate truth of teleology is unknown, all codes of morality are arbitrary. II. Therefore the student has no concern with ethics as such. III. He is consequently free 'to do his duty in that state of life to which it has pleased God to call him.' II. THE REASON I. Since truth is supra-rational, any rational statement is false. II. Let the student then contradict every proposition that presents itself to him. {197} III. Rational ideas being thus expelled from the mind, there is room for the apprehension of spiritual truth. It should be remarked that this does not destroy the validity of reasonings on their own plane. III. THE SPIRITUAL SENSORIUM I. Man being a finite being, he is incapable of apprehending the infinite. Nor does his communion with infinite being (true or false) alter this fact. II. Let then the student contradict every vision and refuse to enjoy it; first, because there is certainly another vision possible of precisely contradictory nature; secondly, because though he is God, he is also a man upon an insignificant planet. Being thus equilibrated laterally and vertically, it may be that, either by affirmation or denial of all these things together, he may attain the supreme trance. IV. THE RESULT I. Trance is defined as the ek-stasis of one particular tract of the brain, caused by meditation on the idea corresponding to it. II. Let the student therefore beware lest in that idea be any trace of imperfection. It should be pure, balanced, calm, complete, fitted in every way to dominate the mind, as it will. Even as in the choice of a king to be crowned. {198} III. So will the decrees of this king be just and wise as he was just and wise before he was made king. The life and work of the mystic will reflect (though dimly) the supreme guiding force of the mystic, the highest trance to which he has attained. YOGA AND MAGIC I. Yoga is the art of uniting the mind to a single idea. It has four methods. Gnana-Yoga. Union by Knowledge. Raja-Yoga. Union by Will. Bhakta-Yoga. Union by Love. Hatha-Yoga. Union by Courage. add Mantra-Yoga. Union through Speech. Karma-Yoga. Union through Work. These are united by the supreme method of Silence. II. Ceremonial Magic is the art of uniting the mind to a single idea. It has four Methods. The Holy Qabalah. Union by Knowledge. The Sacred Magic. Union by Will. The Acts of Worship. Union by Love. The Ordeals. Union by Courage. add The Invocations. Union by Speech. The Acts of Service. Union through Work. These are united by the supreme method of Silence. {199} III. If this idea be any but the Supreme and Perfect idea, and the student lose control, the result is insanity, obsession, fanaticism, or paralysis and death (add addiction to gossip and incurable idleness), according to the nature of the failure. Let then the Student understand all these things and combine them in his Art, uniting them by the supreme method of Silence. - Aleister Crowley [ The author would also agree with your 'rant' against Christianity , religious organisations and homophobia ] -

Interesting correlation between God and light in major world religions
Nungali replied to Ajay0's topic in General Discussion
Judaism > kabbalah > the supernal triad > the top point or origin / point of first spiritual manifestation . 'behind' that are the three veils of negative existence Ain, ( nothing, no, emptiness, etc ) Ain Soph, (limitless) Ain Soph Aur (limitless eternal light ) . All religions have an inner core that is similar because all people have characteristics that are similar . I did Baha'i studies for a time (as well as , earlier and as a background , Comparative Religion studies . The Baha's are big on this theme and have continued the idea of Progressive Revelation ( like in the stream of prophets Christianity accepts , up to Christ ) through history. That is, they see all major prophets and religions as manifestations of one religion that is bought with modifications for specific periods of evolution by an eras relevant prophet who teaches the essential religion with temporal and regional modifications. ( They see that now we have a global society forming so now those temporal and regional modifications have 'morphed' into a MUCH wider perspective . ) Regarding light , its fairly obvious ; probably the oldest form of religion and worship in the world . Light rules everything and s the source of life for everything (ultimately ), what better symbol for 'God' ? By studying the Baha'i writings on this you will find a wealth of the examples abut the essential similar core of religions . https://bahaiteachings.org/bahai-concept-progressive-revelation/ What these essentials of all religions actually are is probably best studied in the Bahai' context , other than than much narrower views of Christianity or Islam , for example . -

Think of your emotional body and feelings and the part of mind influenced by that . Now think of your physical body and health . Somewhere 'out there' is your 'spiritual nature' and things you consider important to that . Then there is the whole intellectual world . If that was all swirling around separate , would you not want to bring them together ? or , to answer your question in one word ; integration .. There are also many advantages in this merging , relating form understanding one's true nature , communication, compassion, understanding, etc . Its one of our major operating advantages (so why block it ? ) . And its the source of many 'psychic ' abilities ( eg, its easy to communicate with 'another' mind when parts of those separate minds are not separated at all . And its an awefully good exercise to get beyond the problems of ego centralism

Jaguar bonnet ornament mobile The rural Australian town of Paris arranges fatal accidents to visitors driving through. Townspeople collect items from the luggage of the deceased passengers whilst survivors are taken to the local hospital where they are given lobotomies with power tools and kept as "veggies" for medical experiments by the earnest town surgeon. The young men of the town salvage and modify the wrecked vehicles into a variety of strange-looking cars designed for destruction. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cars_That_Ate_Paris

I got a compressed air aero motor plane for friends little son for his birthday . First we had to assemble it from a kit . he loved that but was very impatient for it to get airborne . Eventually we finished , took it out into the paddock. After much mucking around we got it started and off it flew . He was so excited , off it went ... across the fields and over the forest and ....... wait ! How do you get it back ? ... we where supposed to set the rudder so it did a circle , but we didnt read that bit of the instructions ... although he wasn't laughing .... bye bye air plane !
