'Just like' is better , still it isnt a muscle . It works different to a muscle . But then again I am old . A muscle has a distinct role and function , like a bicep , it only has limited movement and purpose and structure , any exercise for that muscle is within those boundaries . This might apply for when the brain is developing its early skills , like talking , walking , and making sense of the sensory kaleidoscope it has been hurled ( born ) into . When you get older it is not 'exercise' that keeps it going (instead of breaking down and deteriorating ) , like we exercise a muscle ... you need a new format from what you have done before in concert with a muscular movement that is new or unusual to you ... to 'burn' new neural pathways through the old 'brain fog' . If you want to exercise your brain / motor muscle interface .... try this Escrima exercise ; Use you sticks , or any sticks or a pointed index finger and out in front of you trace a square in the air .. work on making it even and a proper geometric square ... practice that . Then do it with both hands at once . Now move to a triangle , follow the same procedure . Now it gets fun ; at the same time make a triangle with one hand and a square with the other . I have had to defend my 'castle ' ( cabin and site ) from attack and seizure , and the land around it on which a dozen homes are built ... and won ! Here in this peaceful and understanding country , we dont use cannons ... just bullshit interpretation of government legislation, the projection of false force and rule and the confounding doublespeak of formal court legality dressed up in robes and wigs of office and a false dignity that looks down on others . Of use ? I think the distinction is of supreme importance . The brain is like a flock of birds , it just supplies the hardware for the mind to operate 'down on ' this polarity . A very dear friend of mine suffered bad sexual abuse as a young girl . Her and her step-sister (in a similar situation from the same man) did a runner from their small rural and a bit isolated community - a few farms together in a small inland valley . Eventually they took off ..... 'went bush ' . Now they were free but in fear of being 'hunted' and bought home or being turned in to the authorities and now, two young teens alone in the bush ... they still did not feel safe . One day two women riders found their vacant camp . By looking at the camp, they knew something was up ; whosoever camp it was , it looked like they knew somewhat what they were doing, but some indications made them curious and worried . So they went looking for them . And they tracked and found them . My friend said, if they had not realized they were women, they would have taken off . They sat and chatted with the two older women , who seemed amazingly understanding and sympathetic when they heard their story . '' You need to come with us , we have a safe place , you will fit right in ..'' So they did , and that is how that (now a ) woman came to live for a while , and have times of refuge, at 'Women's Land ' . She picked up some skills there too , as women do everything there , and teach others . - Women's Land is a near myth around here , it has been going for a long time . Its a closed rural community out in the 'semi-wilderness'. One can imagine from the title .... no men allowed . It was started for women ( and perhaps by women ) that had a similar experience to those girls . That woman, who was that little girl was my GF for a time and when I found out what area she spent her young days in I asked her ; ''Hey ! Have you ever heard of Women's Land ? is it a real place ? My teacher never fought competition , never ran a school for money , never had big classes . When his very famous teacher passed on. several claimed to be the new leader and master , he never did . The one that did and still is, I think , cannot show any authority from that master that says he is now the head . However my teacher inherited the masters sword and weaponry . Also my teacher looked after him for years at the end when he was infirm . No would know who this man is , he was a quiet and humble person . teaching individuals and small groups, yet many high level instructors and other masters came to see and learn from him. When teacher died a few from here went to Okinawa for his funeral , they said there were a large amount of people from OS attending . His neighbours wondered why all the people from different countries , they were told that was because he was a very accomplished and world famous ( with those 'in the know' ) martial artist .
