[ Okay, if you not an anthro nut like me (or at least interested in human make up history psychology - 'know thyself' , or archaeology , etc .) may as well not read this . ] A little known culture and practice . The Cucuteni-Trypillian culture had the largest settlements in history up to their time. This was a widespread and long-lasting tradition in what is now Southeastern and Eastern Europe, lasting from as early as 6500 BCE (the beginning of the Neolithic) to as late as 2000 BCE (the end of the Chalcolithic and the beginning of the Bronze Age). There is a consensus in the study of Neolithic and Eneolithic Europe that the majority of burned houses were intentionally set alight. Although the reasons behind why house burning was practiced are still debated, the evidence seems to support that it occurred in such a way as to indicate it was highly unlikely to have been as a result of accidental cause. If these regularly occurring burnings, in which the entire settlement is destroyed, were deliberate, then there has still been a debate about why this happened. Cucuteni-Trypillian settlements were completely burned every 75–80 years . There is evidence that every single settlement in this culture probably practiced house burning. No real explanation has been offered, various theories all seem to have holes in them. The remains show food and goods were present in the burnings, bu no human remains. It seems deliberate as the remains are vitrified clay - like baked pottery. Experiments did not get the same results, unless they packed the remade houses with hay and wood up against the walls to get the reqiured temperature for vitrification ; Recreation of a Cucuteni-Trypillian house burning; note the amount of extra fuel (straw and wood) added to the outside of the clay walls to increase the temperature needed for ceramic vitrification. Only one idea seems to hold up ; Symbolic end of house: Some scholars have theorized that the buildings were burned ritually, regularly and deliberately in order to mark the end of the "life" of the house. The terms "Domicide" and "Domithanasia" have been coined to refer to this practice. Using this theory, objects belonging to the house (including food, containers, and ritual objects) could possibly have been viewed as sharing the same "spirit" as the house structure itself. In destroying the house, it would then also be necessary to destroy all of the various elements that made up the house, which would explain why these kinds of items have been found buried in the rubble of burned houses. The physical act of destroying the entire settlement by intentionally burning it to the ground would have required an organized joint-community effort, involving stacking huge amounts of fuel around the walls of the structures, and then torching the entire settlement. Such a systematic act of destruction would leave behind the kind of evidence that is to be found in the archeological sites . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burned_house_horizon

700,000-Year-Old Stone Tools Point to Mysterious Human Relative
Nungali replied to Apech's topic in The Rabbit Hole
Curious, also many of the islands around there, throughout time, are separated by deep water that would have needed ocean crossing (not land bridge during low sea levels ) . This is a very early date ! A few possibilities; since archaeology and palaeontology are based on finds, there may still be a lot yet 'unfounded' . Early hominids made tools hunted and butchered. Humans been around longer than we thought . There is also evidence of early humans that died out , they were unsuccessful, no people remain but their tools do , the first settlement of the Southern Mediterranean is such a case ... maybe ingress from souther Africa via the NIle ? Or before the 'Green Sahara' phase. They appear to have disappeared . later settlement was via a 'middle eastern' / l Levant peoples . A similar thing also in Arabia. very ancient tools found that predate the (supposed) arrival of man there. Also the case there with horses - horse indications long before they thought horse riding evolved in the Pontic Steppe far to the east . -
I never seen this before ... so I update it .

And the results of those investigations ? or is this just a book advert ? or a random pic without relevant comment ? The author seems to stand up ok . Her book previous to this one ^ The Pentagon's Brain: An Uncensored History of DARPA, America's Top Secret Military Research Agency,[11] was chosen as finalist for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize in History.

Okay, that inspired me to give it a go, but I should have a witness nearby, so I got a friend to watch ; I opened the cupboard, we stood back, I waved my open palmed hand across in the same direction the cupboard closed .... nothing. He said "That was pretty useless." But I ignored him and tried again , this time moving my hand across a little faster .... nothing moved. He said " That was pathetic ! Didnt even make enough wind to close it ! " So I tried again, this time taking a big wind up and swung my palm at it. .... nothing. he goes " Thats just so pathetic! You are such a dork ! " So I swung my open palm at him .... he moved ! Telekinesis ! Yes !

... however, some say this culture influenced Tibet , and claim Tibetan wisdom comes from the west, and in the west of Pamirs, they say wisdom comes from the east . Also, very interesting things have been going on in Armenia for some time . The post Victorian occultists were very limited in their understandings, a lot of it was actually based on bad and now defunct scientific research of the time.

Blavatsky misread a historical phase regarding 'the roof of the world ' the old 'Aryan' civilisation centre pre-history, in this context appears to have been in the Pamir Mts. the extreme eastern part of their lands . In legends it became Shamballa , Shangrila. for terrain and cultural comparisons see http://www.heritageinstitute.com/zoroastrianism/aryans/location.htm

But I do wonder what criteria allows you to see one type of video fake and another not ... one type of human behaviour fake and one not .... one explanation of human behaviours and reactions fake and one not ? WOW! Look at that ! Did you see that ? wow

I cant imagine anyone but a very 'wealthy' society with 'resources to burn' doing that . Also it was the first great settlement in Europe , rivalling anything in Mesopotamia .... until 'urbanisation' and 'cities' were developed .

Its certainly interesting. For the first part, attributing animals to constellations, I think that started in many different places . There is certainly a very old tradition of it with Australian Aboriginals .... but nothing like the animals given above ( which does seem to indicate a common or similar source) . However ..... " The Pleiades also figures in the Dreamings of several language groups. For example, in the central desert region, they are said to be seven sisters fleeing from the unwelcome attentions of a man represented by some of the stars in Orion. The close resemblance of this to Greek mythology is believed to be coincidental — there is no evidence of any cultural connection.[6] The Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation explain them in the Karatgurk story. Another story involves seven sisters, the Maya-Mayi who were so beautiful that a warrior, Warrumma, kidnaps two of them. They eventually escape by climbing a pine tree that continually grows up into the sky where they join their other sisters.[7] However, stars were commonly used to measure time and the seasons and to regulate daily activities before written culture, and long after in some cultures. The myths of the Australian Aboriginal people are, as around the world, to do with moral lessons and various reminders such as when to eat certain types of food, which is itself a cultural connection in the general form of the stories. Therefore, the study of the stars is probably the oldest knowledge on earth, such that it remains an intriguing possibility that aboriginal star knowledge does contain some fragments of a much older original culture. Aboriginal people came to Australia from Asia 50,000 years ago (well before Greek culture formed 3,000–4,000 years ago), and presumably the Aboriginal people originally came from Africa. While there is no hard evidence of a cultural connection, the possibility should not be written off, and the door is open to research to construct models of older human cultures, through the tracing of these narratives and other means such as linguistics " https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Aboriginal_astronomy

How is learning magic compatible with Taoism?
Nungali replied to stovepipe's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
I practice western magic , of a certain tradition. It has taught me how to 'do things' (accomplish things ) by using the forces of the thing itself and the forces of nature, thereby making my efforts, not 'non action, or not doing', but certainly with a lot less effort . Think of gardening ; I might expend a lot of time energy and money watering my lawns and gardens today . or I might do nothing, as the knowledge and perceptions I have developed tell me its going to rain this afternoon , although the sky is clear blue as far as I can see . Or, regarding minimal effort, I might put off pulling those extra stubborn weeds out until the Moon's last quarter ... then they will lift out like 'magic' . But the thing is , any 'magic' you practice must be for the right reason and for the right ends . Seeking 'siddhis' for the sake of it , with no proper aim, does seem a cause of the ego . Also, one must be practical and realistic , if aims can be achieved by other ends ; as the teacher said to the student that had just returned from many years away to study magic, and tried to impress his old teacher by walking on the water to cross the river to his teachers house ; " What ? You spent all those years learning to do what the local peasants pay the ferryman a penny for ? " -
