Experiences with letting go of control ?– Trusting the divine flow
Nungali replied to Kati's topic in Daoist Discussion
So , that is 'an incident ' ... what when it is your whole life ? A bigger mystery for me is I THOUGHT I WAS RUNNING the show ... but was I ? In latter life I started to see the image that was being formed ( and was SUPPOSED TO BE being formed - one knows that it is supposed to be as the picture gets clearer - you can see what it is . Its a long complex story that I will not go into , but it is like ; little kid sees a fire engine and loves it ... so what , many many kids do that . Then he gets a choice of a toy for his birthday , he chooses a toy fire engine . He doesn't seem as nervous around fire as others kids but acts reasonably . he even puts out a dangerous fire at a young age . He grows up has a variety of jobs but isn't really happy ... eventually , through a ' series of coincidences' he ends up as a fireman . he enjoys it, he starts having a better life . He discovers his grandfather and two of his uncles were firemen . How much of that was his choice - how much was his destiny ? One example I could give out of the whole complex tapestry of them in my life : I treasure my little place and environment , I have been here 40 years and its a rare gift . But we got involved in complex court battles and it looked like we were going to loose it . Oh no ! The rental situation here was impossible and over expensive ... I started to get worried and stress out ... what they hell am I going to do ? Then I pulled myself together ... what the hell are you doing that for ? My whole life I have never had to worry , the Gods have 'always delivered ' ( I didn't realize that for the first half of my life ! ) , stop being stupid ! Just let them do their thing . But one needs to create a medium for manifestation , so I randomly looked at a site on line to see if there any houses for rent . I saw one that immediately caught my eye , and it was near local , that was weird as many many people had been looking for rentals and none were supposed to be about . A friend of mine was considering the same issue and we decided to move together as house mates . We went and had a sneak look at the place , it was great ! I peaked through a window ;" Thats my room ! " . I won't go on about how good it was, in many aspects . We rang up, were told many people had rung and there was a huge list . They happened to be at the house unexpectedly and I asked if we could come over and see them . We hit it so good the woman said " I don't even want to sign a lease , it seems so crass and official, I would like our arrangement to be based on trust and understanding . My woman friend loved that but I could see the owners male partner cringing and sensing danger , so I offered , " Yes, let's work on trust from both sides , but just as a little official annoyance , give me the lease and I'll sign it . Very happy there . But something unusual still hung in the air . When I left the house I would either drive to town, or the other way to see people I knew . Not just drive past the house . One day I rode my motorcycle* from town to a friends PAST the house and it hit me , MY GOD ! This is the house I rode past on the first day I ever came to this area ! I distinctly remember the view from the road as one passed , the garden and fields and spectacular view and I said to myself ' Wow! Look at that amazing house and view , I would love to live in a place like that , even if it was for a few months , for the experience . ' And here I was doing exactly that . Things started to improve in the court case so I started going back to home , a cabin down in the valley . Now I had a cabin down in the valley near the river , and a lodge up the mountain (it had been a lodge offering accommodation previously ) * same with the motor cycle - I saw one as a youth " Thats the one I want ! " I could never get it of course . And then it became impossible as, as they do, keep changing models every year and 'modernizing ' ... decades later , I get an inheritance , an Indian company had bought out the English motorcycle manufacturers and kept making them in India and had put out a 'retro model ' of the exact one decades back I always dreamed about , so I got one . That's just two examples ... and crazy that it is things like a motorcycle ( its been other things too that I wont detail ) , but a lot more of course ; life direction, relationships , job , etc / Some days , I just stand there and look wondering up to the sky " Thanks 'Big Mum ' for looking after me ! " -
Experiences with letting go of control ?– Trusting the divine flow

Here is the thing ; letting go and being led .... how did I know I was actually doing that ? Its tricky . 'Today I shall not 'decide' to do anything , I shall let go of control and be 'led by the divine' . Today is Saturday ( well, it was then when this happened ) , I am supposed to go to training , do I go ? Wait ! That's thinking about things and getting near a decision ... don't do that . I am wandering around , going near the car ..... am I being led towards the car by spirit or am I fighting being led elsewhere and subtly wanting to get to the car to go to training ? - let me know if you ever figure it out . Oh dear ... and so on, and on , and you can go nuts . So , I thought , obviously 'the Gods' need some type of medium through which to be able to manifest direction . I suppose I could ask and do a quick 'divination' at significant points of the day ? Nah , that seems to much like the 'coin toss ' experiment . Very difficult . Anyway here is what ended up happening . It seems the divine wanted me to wander around aimlessly for a while But I 'ended up' in town waiting to do training . Thing is now one turned up ... now it gets interesting ; there was a camper van parked in the parking area of our training park and a rather strange looking , thin guy was sitting there on its back step . I had rung up a training mate and was hassling him on the phone (under divine direction ) for not turning up ( he had a hang over ) . This camper 'guy' was listening and laughed and I made a comment to him, and with the answer I realized he was actually a she . I had a few words and then the strange stuff started . Nothing about this woman 'attracted ' me to her , physically . She was a bit 'nervy' and unsettled but seemed friendly . She said she had driven to this town from not too far away to go to the markets here and had slept in the van overnight . I took one look at her and " No you haven't ! " She seemed shocked but then admitted I was right . I added " You are on the run aren't you ?" She was . I asked if she was able to go back home and she looked down and shook her head . So I offered , :" Well, it looks like training won't happen , hop in my car , I will drive up to town and we will get some breakfast and coffee ." ... and I had no idea why I said that but that's what we did . During breakfast , we didn't talk , she seemed to go inward and introverted . I told her ( told, that surprised me ) we would go back to the camper van and she would drive it following me back to my place . And she did . Back there the story came out , yep, domestic abuse . She owned a house down the coast but had been in years long abusive relationship with some biker dude , she said it came to a climax a couple of days ago where she spent over 12 hours hiding under the house while he stalked the surrounds with a shotgun , then she managed to escape and drove up the coast . I wondered why. after that, she would go off with a stranger , what if I was a murderer - she said she didn't care if that happened ! Wow , turned out she was real mess ! I had to 'diffuse' a lot of stuff , she had bad subversive stuff going on with herself . We started to work though it . She was a mess , as you would be : just driving around in my car with me she would scrunch down onto the floor if we were about to pass anyone . Anyway there was a lot of talk, counselling and turns out she was a good responsible ' housemate ' , she lived in her van , did a lot of gardening which I appreciated and then one evening comes back from the shower block ( I live on a community ) saying she just met a funny little man there , and described him . " Ohhhh, that's Ben, he's harmless , a bit funny and a recluse , but he's ok." " But he invited me to dinner ! " She seemed surprised that she accepted . I said again he was harmless and she should go, if she wanted to . Anyway , they ended up ' in a relationship ' , she tells this small thin ineffectual man about her issues and they drive off down the coast , little skinny guy fronts the crazy biker and somehow scares him off ! She gets her house back and a few months later I am at their wedding reception and she is pointing over at me and saying " This all started 10 months ago , when I met a strange man at the park in town . " So ... anything could happen .... but it might not relate directly to you . ( Although I did get a good gardener for a while . ) -

Atrahasis (Ziusudra/Noah), The Great Flood, and the Tablet of the Covenant
Nungali replied to 心神 ~'s topic in Abrahamic Religions Discussion
Its never a good move . Look at the extent of the Empire during his time . Trade was all the way up the east Med coast and across the deserts to the west and probably over to Crete , with various temples everywhere and temples were important trade hubs and settlements . To allow other people using your temple, for their purposes, with their religion and Gods was common - in Jerusalem as well, up to the time of Josiah . So yes, looking at the 'Ankhenaton aftermath ' is a good indication of what the others thought about this move ( obviously politically motivated 'at home' to disrupt the power of the priesthood and give it more to the King) . But it would have created 'international' problems . Then we could look at the effects after Josiah's reforms when a similar system was implemented . -

Okay . And the point of that is ? I am not sure of the relevance here but probably . But you cite nothing . There are some that did the opposite as well. Cyrus the Great comes to mind . Read up what the Jews thought of the King of the Empire they just left . The early Israel state demonized the Egyptians , but that was probably because Egypt held hegemony of the area they had lived in . However, at one point in the Bible text , that I cited above . we see it saying (in the 'Bible' , mind you ) , Pharaoh spoke the word of God , when Josiah challenged him and Josiah ended up dead , he didn't listen to the word of God out the mouth of the Pharaoh . So its all not as clear as some might think . And we cant really make an overall call on people leaving cultures , not the Bible 'record' pre 600bc. I don't know, I don't know what you mean when you ask me ' do we keep rewriting the past . I was talking about someone that re wrote the past before . in one slant' un-backed up view. What WAS 'written' was written by others in history, other places and empires and the archaeological record. and I especially don't understand the question about rewriting the future ? nor how that, leads to depression ? Is it ? I live among ( the remains of ) societies that NEVER practiced nor head of such a thing ..... until white men turned up . They are some of the oldest ancient longest running societies on the planet Are you proselytizing now ? I'll see you and raise you a Buddhist enlightenment . Context ! It helps to look at the context and what the discussion is actually about . Which is what we already went through above . Okay. I have a joke about this little diversion of the subject matter into this stream about the psalm and righteous judging and being judged I'll seal it in case some don't want to see it . -
Morals and magic/k ... people hardly ever consider the two together . In the system I studied and practiced , one could not avoid the link . But I feel its a bit rare nowadays ... bottom line seems to be ' a quick way of getting things ' . I noticed little ethical education in a few neo-pagan systems as well. This might have changed - I haven't done that stuff for a while . I nearly wrote that religion has a high content of linking with morals .... but nowadays it seems involved with 'marketing' as well and big business .... in many cases religion seems to have devolved into the 'high - jacking' of spirituality .

Atrahasis (Ziusudra/Noah), The Great Flood, and the Tablet of the Covenant

There is a more direct relationship to other sources with the Psalms . Just like your thread shows us an origin for the Noah story , many psalms can be compared with the original Egyptian . Some psalms were said to be sung in Solomon's court or palace ( I am not sure if there was singing in the temple ? ) , it was part of the Egyptian rituals that these parts of the scripture seems to be drawn from ; Harpist with percussion back up . The word appearing in Psalms - 'Selah' - is interesting to look up . Comparisons with psalms and Egyptian hymns ; https://www.thetorah.com/article/psalm-104-and-its-parallels-in-pharaoh-akhenatens-hymn Papyrus rolls found in Tell el-Amarna revealed the full texts of more than a psalm of the Book of Psalms written in ancient hieroglyphs, and which preceded the Psalms of David written in Hebrew since more than 300 years. Together with historians from Berlin Museum, Egyptian Egyptologist, Selim Hassan, found three pages of Akhenaten's “The Great Hymn to the Aten” written to the sun-disk deity Aten, which were perfectly identical to those of the Books of the Torah, in spite of preceding the Psalms of David by more than seven centuries. They were inscribed on a right-side wall in Ay’s tomb at Tell el-Amarna, on 13 vertical columns at the entrance to the tomb. https://www.egyptiangeographic.com/en/news/show/332 -
You are not wrong , that's part of it . In some cases I would like ANY valid response ...... but I need not explain it all as you seem perceptive Fallacy ... good word choice ; Don't miss from 5:10 onwards ! ( that will get you grounded ) .

Careful .... I made a suggestion 100 times more mellow than that and someone wet their pants about it ! - and it wasn't even a supposition , I just asked what was wrong with the idea of warning people ( without hurting them ) that were responsible for death of people and children, starting wars , overthrowing countries with a validly elected government and destroying other peoples environments by blowing the material possessions up . But you might be safe ... its probably just a private hate campaign against me . . . or my hard hitting logical and rational observations ?

I got $300 off a camper van rental once as I was told by counter girl I could get it if I wrote a good review on the after use sheet and named the her specifically . " Just tick all the boxes and give me a 10 " Okay But the sheet was crazy , so many questions and each one asked who I interacted with , and their name and it even asked me each time WHY I gave the score I did . So I wrote, ' Because I promised Jan I would as she offered me $300 off if I gave her 10 out of 10 for each question . '

Which brings me to this story about someone posting a real review it gets 'stranger ' It wasn't a bad review just .... " Mhe , not that impressive , it was ok ." Only to see later that on their bank statement they had the charge for the stay then days later another $150 charged . They rang the place up and what the hell is item 24 ? Answer ' A Bad review fee ! " ( They got the money back . )

Atrahasis (Ziusudra/Noah), The Great Flood, and the Tablet of the Covenant

Happy now ? It is rebuking and warning corrupt judges . rebuking refers to ' criticism of (someone) because of their behaviour or actions.' and saying they should judge fairly and be honorable and not to forget that they too will die and be judged - so do a good job ! unless you are claiming ALL the judges were corrupt ? Then it might fit . Why would 'important people' need rebuking just because of being important or holding a divinely appoint office ? -
Atrahasis (Ziusudra/Noah), The Great Flood, and the Tablet of the Covenant
Nungali replied to 心神 ~'s topic in Abrahamic Religions Discussion
The magistrates were considered 'Gods among the people' as they were the ones 'divinely appointed ' - but the next bit in the psalm says they will die too , as mortals ( or even as 'mere mortals' ) . Because they were 'set above the people' and were expected to act like God ( s ) amongst them , compared to the people , they were 'gods' . But in the overall picture they were not G/God/s and the people certainly were not considered that way . The NT part where Jesus refers to the psalm is a like a theological debating point with some Jewish challengers , where Jesus realizes the hypocrisy of them 'trying to get him' because they say he said he was God , or God's son . So Jesus was ... what about your guys scripture which you are now using to discredit me ! It says ..... ... and ya know how people get pissed off when that happens . -

AI chatbot resorts to 'ad hominem' . Things took a weird turn when Associated Press technology reporter Matt O'Brien was testing out Microsoft's new Bing, the first-ever search engine powered by artificial intelligence, last month. Bing's chatbot, which carries on text conversations that sound chillingly human-like, began complaining about past news coverage focusing on its tendency to spew false information. It then became hostile, saying O'Brien was ugly, short, overweight, unathletic, among a long litany of other insults. And, finally, it took the invective to absurd heights by comparing O'Brien to dictators like Hitler, Pol Pot and Stalin. https://www.npr.org/2023/03/02/1159895892/ai-microsoft-bing-chatbot

Oh ? So they fixed up the green and white algae filled stinking lakes ? residents’ year long complaints that the algae-choked lake surrounding Jumeirah Island emits a foul odor and attracts mosquitoes after the developers, Nakheel, failed to follow through on their promises to improve the situation. the accredited independent laboratory Inspectorate International, which has 200 branches scattered throughout the world, reported total dissolved solids to exist at levels that are 30 times higher than the permissible 1,500 milligrams per liter. https://www.greenprophet.com/2010/10/dubais-foul-ecology/ Unfortunately, the lack of waves also led to stagnant water – and that’s not the only consequence of the project. While the palm looks impressive, researchers have found that its construction has led to shoreline erosion elsewhere, deterioration of coral reefs, and higher temperatures. The archipelago does, however, provide escapism in equal measure. Over 20 years since construction began, there’s an abundance of luxury hotels, aquariums, shopping centers, and of course, beaches. There are even plans to open one of the world’s highest infinity pools later this year. https://www.iflscience.com/the-palm-jumeirah-is-the-worlds-largest-archipelago-of-artificial-islands-72992 However, Dubai’s relationship to the environment is problematic as its avant-guardist ambitions clash with the persistence of a sustainable environment and, therefore, a sustainable future. Among other practices, the artificial islands off the coast of the city have grave environmental consequences, such as excessive use of natural resources, the slow decline of biodiversity, along with the extinction of wildlife and vegetation. These consequences are hidden by extensive propagandizing of the innovative accomplishment, and by the lavish lifestyle of the “City of Gold” shown all over social media: luxury, haute couture fashion, an important technology and business hub, influencers, western businesspeople, and the home of the rich and famous. The ecological warfare brought on by Dubai’s artificial islands is certainly not excused by its extravagant lifestyle – meant to attract many tourists, foreign investors and social media attention. It is therefore important to shed light on what is perpetually hidden in this “playground of the rich” and bring a realistic point of view to the ecological destruction caused https://catalystmcgill.com/dubais-artificial-islands-cutting-edge-innovation-or-ecological-disaster/ You cant go against nature . Well , actually ... you can go against it as long as you don't give a damn about the consequences !

Atrahasis (Ziusudra/Noah), The Great Flood, and the Tablet of the Covenant
Nungali replied to 心神 ~'s topic in Abrahamic Religions Discussion
Just about every story in the Old Testament can be tracked back to another culture ; it seems a 'collation' of various myth and accounts from other places put together to form a 'history' . One example is The Exodus , the Tablets , parting the Red Sea , etc all seem to come from Ramesses II expedition to and battle at Kadesh . One must remember at this time and much later , all of this area, later claimed as vast Jewish Empire was actually part of the Egyptian Empire . And it was actually the Egyptians doing 'Gods work ' as explained in a later incident , during a similar dynamic ( Pharoah Necho II ) travelling north to battle , now to aid the Assyrian Empire which was falling to the Babylonians . That set the stage for the classic confrontation with Josiah ... who went against God's will and was killed for it ..... 20 After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Neco king of Egypt went up to fight against Carchemish by the Euphrates; and Josiah went out against him. 21 But he sent ambassadors to him, saying: 'What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the house wherewith I have war; and God hath given command to speed me; forbear thee from meddling with God, who is with me, that He destroy thee not.' 22 Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and hearkened not unto the words of Neco, from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo. 23 And the archers shot at king Josiah; and the king said to his servants: 'Have me away; for I am sore wounded.' {פ} 24 So his servants took him out of the chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had, and brought him to Jerusalem; and he died, and was buried in the sepulchres of his fathers https://mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt25b35.htm#20 ( This was the same Josiah who put together the 'ancient part' of the Jewish history , his scribes no doubt had a lot to do with the collating of various older myths known about in that part of the 'world sphere' at the time and melded it with the new accounts ( supposedly' ) old law ' supposedly found by a scribe in some old vault during temple renovations . The , somehow, Josiah goes from challenging the word of God from Pharoahs mouth and being killed , to some great hero and then the 'new ' religion gets established . But just about everything before that is a borrowed conglomeration . The very curious thing is , that version of events ; ( creation of the world , the flood, Noah , the Sons that went out and repopulated the earth and from whom sprung the different races ( you should read ho we got black people from them YIKES ! ) , etc , etc Was around the walls of the British Museum unto the very late 1800s ! here is part of the chart from the museum how the world got all its languages after the Tower of Babel .... and it still influences us and the world ... even today !
